This perfectly located 18th-century riad has been in the Bouskri family for almost 200 years and offers the complete package of traditional architecture, authentic furnishings, exquisite cuisine and, above all, overwhelmingly hospitable service. The owner, Mohamed Bouskri, having been a guide for the rich and famous for 34 years (Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman, former US presidents and others) is a mine of information and is always glad to share his knowledge and passion of Marrakech.

This quaint Family own Riad made our stay in Marrakech delightful. You get to meet the owner and the staff are so helpful and accommodating that we felt that we got to discover Marrakech through there daily experience. The owner Mohamed and his family own also a nice private museum in front of the hotel where you get to discover and understand the history of art and design that makes Marrakech so interesting. The owner was so nice - he also walked us to his favorite carpet store in the Souk while sharing with us some marrakech stories. We absolutely loved our time there. You get to enjoy your amazing traditional breakfast on the roof terrace every morning - the diner in the living room style dining room was amazing with the sound of live marocain band - the hammam - the pool all of it was great. And the Riad is well position in the Medina - that you don’t here the city when you go to bed. It is the most peaceful Riad we have been during our trip across Morocco. I highly recommend it.

Hotel's Favorite
I stayed at Riad Kniza in November as part of a week celebrating birthdays with a couple of friends, and with this being my first trip to the African continent I had no idea what to expect. We were driven from the airport to Bab Doukkala, one of the main gates in the wall of the Medina not far from the accommodation, and were met by one of the team from the Riad. Having been awake for over day already I was exhausted, and the chaos and smells of the area made me question if I had made a terrible mistake in my choice of destination. We duly followed the porter who wheeled our suitcases through the street the short walk to the Riad, navigating through the mopeds, fumes, mess, and crowds. Suddenly he took us down a small side passage and through a large wooden door into the Riad. In an instant the madness of the outside disappeared and we found ourselves plunged into a gorgeous world of calm serenity. As we had arrived early we were invited to take a seat in one of their lounge areas, and were provided with traditional Moroccan mint tea and pastries. As we sat and rested, all that could be heard was the trickle of the rose petal-filled water fountain in the courtyard. With a few hours to kill before checking in we were asked if we would like to spend some time on the roof terrace. As the temperature was around thirty degrees we thought it was too good an opportunity to turn down and were taken up to the recently expanded space on top of the Riad. It was an oasis, and I still cannot understand how it was so peaceful given how load and chaotic it was at street level. The terrace has a number of shaded wooden pods and sun loungers dotted around, and was the perfect place to spend a couple of hours decompressing before being given the rooms. When 2pm came we were checked in, and I simply cannot fault the rooms. I had the suite on the ground floor with a bedroom, bathroom, wardrobe area, and lounge space, and the couple I was staying with had double room on the adjacent side of the courtyard. The rooms were spacious, traditionally decorated, comfortable, and had everything you could need - bottled water, toiletries, towels, robes, a safe for valuables, etc. It was faultlessly clean, and the attention to detail and touches such as rose petals around the room was a lovely addition to be greeted with. Having not planned food for our first night in Marrakech we asked if the Riad would be able to accommodate feeding us that evening. "Of course" was the response they gave (to be honest this was the response to all of our requests for the week). That evening my suite's lounge was converted into a dining area and we were presented with a fantastic and filling multiple course dinner of traditional Moroccan foods. Tagines, salads, pastries, etc. It was an excellent welcome to the city and we were astounded by the quality and volume of food they put together at short notice. The following morning, our first in Marrakech, we were treated to an equally filling and excellent breakfast on the roof terrace. Traditional breads, yoghurt, cereal, pancakes, cheese, jams, coffee and tea, and freshly squeezed juice. We had also asked the previous night about the possibility of a birthday cake for one of the group, and the staff presented us with a phenomenal Opera Cake for us to celebrate with. This was just one example of the multiple occasions where they went above and beyond, and organised something last minute for us without question. After breakfast we met the legendary owner Mohamed, who warmly welcomed us to the Riad and who invited us to visit his museum next door. Having read about the museum I assumed it would be a small room or two in the Riad with a few artefacts, but what we were greeted with was an incredible collection of traditional Moroccan and Berber clothing, jewellery, tools, artwork, rugs, and more. As we we ascended through the floors of the museum we also saw some of the clothing and jewellery produced by Mohamed's wife and daughter, and some examples of fantastic photography by his son Youssef. The trip to the museum was concluded with a visit to the terrace of the adjoining Terraces des Arts restaurant, and a stunningly beautiful 360 degree view of Marrakech and surrounding mountains. If you go, you have to visit the very top floor and breathe in the views. The team at the Riad were some of the most attentive and helpful I have ever come across. The housekeeping team completely reset the rooms every morning, would pop back in during the afternoon to replenish towels and toiletries, and would return in the evening to turn down the room ready for bed. It was all impeccably timed so would always happen when you were out or doing something like sitting on the terrace, so it never once felt intrusive. The reception staff were excellent, and wouldn't let us do the smallest thing like closing the front door behind us. They'd jump up with a "don't worry, I'll get that". One of the staff in particular was even doing things like ringing ahead on our behalf to check our excursions were running to plan, so we didn't have to worry about things not going smoothly. The waiting/porter team were always on hand to help, and whether it be carrying bags or serving food and drink they did it calmly, discretely, and always with a smile. One of our group had a massage and hammam treatment and he came out saying it was the best massage he's ever experienced (which coming from a physiotherapist is high praise indeed). Whilst commending the staff, I will also take a particular moment to thank Mohamed himself. He is a kind, gentle, and phenomenally knowledgeable man who I could quite happily have spent the week speaking to. The couple I stayed with were looking for items to decorate their new home, and he offered to walk us into the Medina to show some hidden gems of shops which you wouldn't know were there unless you were shown them. One in particular was an Aladdin's cave of spectacular rugs, lamps, and anything else you could possibly need. He also throughout the week would impart some of his unparalleled knowledge and tips to help us (such as purchasing a combined ticked at the YSL Museum rather than standing in the ridiculously long queue at Jardin Majorelle) - it was like having our own personal guide, and I can see why he has been relied upon by US Presidents and celebrities over the years. When the week came to an end I couldn't bear to leave. It was a fantastic place to stay - the accommodation, staff, location, and service were perfect. I wanted to see if I could think of something to criticise so this seems like more of a balanced review than a gushing message of thanks, but aside from the temperature control on the shower taking a couple of days to master, I literally cannot think of a single negative aspect. When I woke up back in my own bed in the UK the morning after arriving home, all I wanted was to take breakfast on the terrace again. I simply cannot recommend Riad Kniza enough - you HAVE to go.

Our visit to Riad Kniza was a wonderful experience! We adored this oasis of peace located right in the heart of the Marrakesh Medina. The Riad is beautiful and clean and contains incredible artwork, furniture, and fabrics that make you feel like you are part of the local and historical experience. The staff were kind and attentive, including the managers Fatima and Bouchra, who organized tours, dinner reservations, and even an overnight trip to the Agafay desert! The riad owner, Mohammed, a truly kind and generous man, took us on a tour of the riad’s private museum and a walk through the Medina where he shared his knowledge and insights of this magical city! Really a delightful experience! We loved the food and service and complimentary live music at their in house dinners and enjoyed the Hammam and massage experience with Nargete, a real pro and expert therapist. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this Riad for a stay while in magical Marrakesh! - Stephen and Nathalie from Montreal

Has a beautiful rooftop to enjoy breakfast .Stayed at the royal suite which was incredibly beautiful and magnificent. The other rooms are also good. Restaurant food is good especially the harira soup. Also they have an excellent spa and hamam. Overall a good experience

We visited for lunch. We hadn’t booked, we found the Riyadh by chance. What a lucky find. The welcome was incredible. The decor was amazing. The lunch on the rooftop was perfect… we were treated like royalty, the food was exciting, generous and beautifully presented. The service! Thank you Hassan for making our lunch so special. We all agreed it was an occasion we would remember forever.

My husband and I spent four nights at this riad for our first trip to Marrakesh and cannot say enough good things about it. From the minute you walk in the door you are treated so well. The staff is beyond helpful and nice; always smiling and willing to assist with whatever you might need. The Riad itself is beautiful and is so well taken care of; instantly makes you feel like you've stepped into something special. The owner Mohammad was so personable and gave us a tour of his museum showcasing many items while telling the Marrakesh history. We had dinner there one night and it was an experience all of it's own; great food, impeccable service and gorgeous surroundings. We took advantage of two of their tour options: - Full day tour of city with guide Mustapha E Farissi, which was incredible! - Balloon rise at sunrise, Berber breakfast and camel ride, which we loved! We were referred to this riad by two different friends that live near us that stayed here within the last 5 years and we couldn't have been more thrilled with our decision.

An Amazing 6 night visit!!! From my initial enquiry to the day I left (not quite left yet, tomorrow) the service has been immense! I have stayed in many hotels around the world and I’ve never found better and more attentive service than in the Riad Kniza. Not even the service in the acclaimed best hotel in Africa, which is here in Marrakech has better service than the Riad Kniza. Mohamed the owner and his team, are so wonderful, it has truly been like saying good bye to family and friends today, as some staff are not working on the day we leave. By singling out some staff members I’m conscious I may miss / offend but those that left a memorable influence over our 25th Wedding Anniversary week here in Marrakesh are; Salma who has been attentive from my initial enquiry to our last full day, nothing has been too much bother, including organising our trips and being there for us when ever we needed her. Fatima, who welcomed us on our first day and made arrangements for the best seat in the house at our chosen restaurant on our anniversary. Abdul and the young lady (sorry I forgot, brain like a sieve 😄) on the front desk who helped with a photo frame for my wife. The waiting staff were all so hard working, Abdul, Hussain, and many others who are constantly serving to every need, up and down the stairs of the Riad. Now to the Riad itself, as other reviews have described this is an oasis of calm and tranquility in amongst the hustle and bustle of the Medina. It is perfectly located between the main square of the medina (about 20mins walk) and the new part of the city in Gueliz, which is modern, spacious and cosmopolitan. Don’t miss this area. We ate dinner in the Riad twice, on our first and last evenings. The service, food and wine were excellent quality and value for money. Limited menu but truly Moroccan and plentiful. On the last night we decided not to go to one of the best Moroccan restaurants, instead choosing to stay at the Riad, for its comfort, warmth, service, convenience and lovey food. It did not disappoint! The rooftop terrace is another special feature. You can choose from multiple stunning locations to eat throughout the Riad but we chose the roof top everyday. Breakfast was a feast of breads, eggs, cakes, pancakes, yoghurt, cereal, coffee, tea and orange juice. Just press 0 on the phone 20mins before you want it and it will arrive wherever you want it. Previous reviews have commented on Mohammed the owners Museum, it’s across the alleyway, as is his little gift shop. Worth looking here early on in your stay, you may find what you are looking for without searching the Souks. Tomorrow, is our last day, we’ll be leaving mid afternoon, and we’ll be sad to say goodbye to the Riad Kniza team, who could not have made us feel more at home. Thank you so much, you’ll leave lasting and very fond memories in our hearts of our special anniversary week with you all in Marrakesh. Good luck to everyone who is so hard working. You’ll not experience a Riad experience anywhere else in the world, so my advice is, don’t stay in any of the big hotels, you can do that anywhere in the world. Stay in a Riad, stay in Riad Kniza.

I have been to the Riad previously. This time with my two adult sons. It is still excellent, including the extension and Museum across the alley. This family run Riad is wonderful, the staff are so friendly and helpful. Every room is a delight and the cool swimming pool wonderful, after a hot day. We ate twice and it was fantastic, as were the breakfasts on the roof daily. Marrakech isn't for everyone, but try to stay here.

A quiet oasis in a chaotic bustling city. We couldn’t believe how quiet, calm, peaceful beautiful this Riad was. We were met by the porter who took our bags whilst we followed through the hustle and bustle of the medina and then down a small side street. As we turned the corner it was as if we were in another world. The Riad was a serene and lovely place. The rooftop terrace was a great place for breakfast as well as a quiet place to share a bottle of wine after dinner. The food was amazing. Beautifully presented and very tasty. We had dinner there on our first and we’re glad we had only closed 2 courses as there was so much. Really nice and so well cooked and the presentation was fantastic. The rooms are large and cool with the air con and very welcoming after a day sightseeing around Marrakesh. They were comfortable and very luxurious, with cushions, drapes etc. Small pool also welcome after the heat, which was warmer than average during our stay, which was only a couple of weeks after the earthquake. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful with nothing too much trouble. Thank you. We had a late flight out of Marrakesh, but not a problem because they let us stay in one of the beautiful lounge areas long after we had checked out, providing tea and coffee etc. The Riad is a fabulous place to stay and in an excellent position for exploring the medina. I recommend a stay there!
