Le Farnatchi has been described as "The City's Most Luxurious Riad" by Food and Travel Magazine, "The Ultimate Hideaway" by Harpers Bazaar and "Best Luxury Riad" by Conde Nast Traveller. It was created out of six small Riads in the heart of the oldest part of Marrakech, with 400 year old walls and 21st C comforts. With just 10 suites Le Farnatchi has the feel of a beautiful, highly individual, private house. The 2016 addition of a new Spa with private Hammams and en suite Massage rooms and Le Trou au Mur restaurant in 2018 has taken Farnatchi to the level of a world class 5 star "boutique" hotel.

We stayed at this Riad in Marrakech for two solid weeks and I can honestly say that I have never had a better stay at any accommodation. There are only 10 suites at the Riad which meant that the staff quickly knew both of our names, always asked about our plans, and made sure we always had everything we needed. The turndown service each night was impeccable - drawing all of the curtains, preparing the bed, delivering of fresh towels.

The rooms themselves are large. We stayed in suite 8 for the first week which was a room on the top floor. The beautiful room included a living area with a fireplace and two arm chairs with a balcony off of the living area that overlooked the pool. The bedroom area (no door between the two) included a couch/sofa as well as large doors that opened to a private small courtyard with an olive tree. The large bathroom included a double vanity sink, large tub, and shower along with a small room containing the toilet and another sink.

The second room was suite 9 which was on the main floor of the Riad. The room was very large, containing a private good-sized courtyard with fountain and lounge chair. The living area had two low chairs as well as a couch. Connecting the living area and the bedroom is a hallway with floor to ceiling glass windows looking into the courtyard that can be opened. The bedroom area had a beautiful wood canopy and chandeliers. Their were very large closets between the bedroom and the bathroom. The bathroom contained a double vanity sink as well as an extremely large tub and shower. The toilet and a third sink were separate from the shower/tub area which was nice when getting ready in the morning.

Breakfast was included in our stay and was always delicious - combinations of coffee, tea, yogurt, eggs, breads, fresh fruit, jams, and granola every day. I am sure the staff would have made anything else if we asked, but we enjoy lighter breakfasts.

Lastly, the Riad itself is on the far north end of the souks meaning that the area is much quieter but you will need to walk a bit further to get to places such as Jamaa El Fna Square (0.6mi from the Riad) or Bahia Palace (1.2mi). However, the Riad is closer to the less traveled part of the souks meaning you will get better prices and is close to Le Jardin Secret (0.3mi).

When we go back to Marrakech we will be staying at Le Farnatchi again!

This Fabolous Riad at the heart of Medina is elegantly decorated and expertly managed by people that clearly understand and care about Moroccan culture and do a fantastic job at capturing and enhancing the style, artistic quality, gastronomy, and kindness of the Moroccan people.
Our room was tastefully adorned with exquisite artefacts presumably handpicked at the local souks. The bedroom incorporates a spacious clean, comfy bed, fireplace, and a small sitting room. Each room has a traditional bath, and private outdoor space, in our case a lovely terrace with views of the Marrakesh rooftops.

If you happen to be in a room with a private internal balcony or courtyard, you can still enjoy the views from the rooftop where you can, have lunch, soak in the sun on a lounger or enjoy a drink watching the sunset with the magnificent view of the Atlas Mountains.

The riad also has a sister Spa next door, where you can relax and experience a traditional Hammam, and a fantastic smart restaurant with a rooftop right opposite, serving both traditional Moroccan food and some western dishes with a twist, as well as delicious cocktails.

Thank you so much to James and all the Le Farnatchi team for their kindness during our visit. Only one wish remains: to go back and spend a few more days at this amazing place.

We had such an incredible trip and were completely blown away by the impeccable service from beginning to end. The location is incredible, although you're just moments away from the medina you feel as though you're in an oasis of calm. The individually designed suites are breathtaking (the photos really don't do them justice), we had a terrace where we sat each morning to enjoy our coffee, and a huge bath which we soaked in every evening. The restaurant opposite 'Le Trou Au Mur' is also a real gem serving a mixture of traditional Moroccan and modern European cuisine. Similarly, the hammam treatment at the onsite Farnatchi Spa was spectacular and a real insight into the authentic local culture. All in all we loved our stay and can't wait to go back!

My daughter and I had a joint hammam with Fatima yesterday and it was quite without doubt the best hammam we have ever experienced. Fantastic smells of Eucalyptus to awaken the senses whilst we gently steamed and then the scrub was amazing. I felt like a child being cared for by their mother! Thank you Fatima for looking after us and sending us out with skin which was pink, fresh and soft. What a treat. I also gave my husband an hour massage and he was very sad to be brought out of his reveries. Thank you Attmed also, Whatever you do, keep those wonderful healing touches coming and thank you Le Farnatchi for giving us all the attention to detail, patience, the amazing private birthday dinner that you gave my husband. We are too sad to be leaving tomorrow but will be back without a shadow of a doubt. Shukran James, Morad, Mohamed and all the other you have made us so welcome and thank you for making our stay simply unforgettable. You have been amazing and Le Farnatchi utterly beautiful. Nothing here but praise for you all.

My husband and I stayed at Le Farnatchi for a week. The whole experience started with a fresh towel and mint tea on arrival and this simply set the tone for what was to come. The traditional riad is simply beautiful and had all the amenities of a 5* hotel (and more!). The attention to detail that has gone into designing this riad cannot be fully described in words. Our suite was luxurious, comfortable and spacious. We particularly loved our walk in shower and the large balcony overlooking the courtyard garden. The staff are incredibly caring and helpful. The food is nutritious and plentiful! The Riad's pool is simply stunning and the garden is an oasis of peace and tranquility in amongst the madness of the medina. A meal on the roof terrace at Sunset is a must, as is a hamam in the Farnatchi Spa. Thank you Saida, Mahfooz, Aziz, James and everyone else at Le Farnatchi for our unbelievable stay. You were simply the best hosts we could have wished for and we are grateful for the opportunity to have been your guests!

What a wonderful treat it was to stay at this Riad. Everything from the location, to the food and the service was impeccable. The manager and every single person from their staff go out of their way to make your stay wonderful. Our breakfast every morning was out of this world and best of all, they serve you at any time you want. Our room was beautiful and had a small terrace, a patio and a big bathtub to soak in and relax after a busy day in the great streets of Marrakech. The location is super convenient and you are within walking distance from many tourist attractions, such as the Djemaa el-Fna, the souks and Le Jardin Secret. We can't wait to go back and stay here again. Thanks Le Farnatchi for a wonderful vacation!

We spent four nights at this lovely, welcoming riad in the medina. Felt like we had a pied a terre with a separate sleeping and sitting area, 2 terraces and the most unique bathroom that had an exquisite marble slab tub. The architectural details and design make it such a Moroccan experience. The staff goes beyond the norm to help make your stay the best it can be. Most of the time our taxi was met by a staff member to guide us back to the hotel. You can choose to have an ample and delicious breakfast anywhere on site or in your room. They made wonderful sightseeing and restaurant recommendations. The owner James is an experienced hotelier (English I believe), genuinely friendly with a wealth of information if you want to know about the riad renovation or the city. Great location. We took a morning walk to the Bahia Palace-maybe 30 minutes and watched the shopkeepers prepare for the day. There are 2 sights worth visiting a couple blocks from the riad. (A small photography museum and a school) Don't forget to get your advance tickets if you want to see the Marjorelle Gardens and go as early as you can as it is incredibly popular. If you ask, the riad will arrange your taxi with drivers they trust. They helped us with what to pay, etc. I had a treatment at the spa that was heaven. We certainly hope to return.

Beautifully restored riad ,with outstanding rooms and service. Situated bang the middle of the hubbub of the old town, with souks and places of interest are all within walking distance. Can highly recommend

Top tips for Marrakech, download "Map.Me" app ( Google maps doesn't seem to work ), or you'll get lost in the soulks, also get a good paper map as back up , hotel has them.

Hotel will come and "rescue" you if you get lost and will walk/guide you to restaurants, etc, if required ( be aware of locals giving directions as they require a hefty tip )

Make sure you have plenty of small bills if you are going to buy/haggle in soulks as getting change back can be an issue .

Cafes and street food vendors everywhere (obvs at street level are alcohol free )

Great range of really lovely prestaurants in the old town, but essential to book them before you fly , because they do get booked up. You can reserve most directly via email or just call them .

Can’t come up with a single negative thing to say about my stay at Le Farnatchi. The personel were amazingly kind, the rooms were neat and nice, breakfast was tasty and you felt very at home at all times. Like I told my mother: ”It’s the perfext mixture between luxury and cozy”!!!

The old buildings have been beautifully converted into 10 suites. We had a sitting room downstairs and upstairs a bedroom with a roof top terrace. We had both hot and cold weather - when it was cold, we were given breakfast downstairs by a roaring fire, when hot on our roof terrace. The restaurant serves both local and international food and has a good wine list with some excellent local wines. The staff were friendly and helpful. Owner, James, was always on hand. We hugely appreciated his helpful advice about what to see in the city.
