The riad is of stunning beauty and very calm. The breakfast was amazing and everything in the room seemed to be custom made with a lot of care. Would definitely recommend having dinner if you feel like staying in. Cabs are easy to find and you can get around to the souks easily if you feel like walking as well.... More

One of the most authentic & prettiest Riads I've visited during my 22days in Morocco. The furniture pieces were very unique, and the rooftop terrace is the highlight of the Riad. We tried two rooms and both were spacious & rose filled. Love staying on the second floor with views of the Riad at night. It's stunning both during the... More

After staying at a different Riad prior to this one we were expecting the same type of service as we were paying a bit more and the place was stunning. But besides the beautiful decor, stunning rooms and the rooftop, we received were basic customer service and wasn't the greatest. We didn't get much of a sense of helpfulness unless... More

I had a lovely one night stay at this welcoming Riad as a solo traveler. The warm staff, particularly Simon and Zak made this a very gracious experience. The location is walking distance to the souks (5 minutes) and also close to the grand square (10-15 minutes). It is a five minute walk from where taxis can let you off... More

Located a little remotely from the square (Djema el Fna), but still walking distance. Nice and quiet. We used a parking lot where cabs congregated as our landmark to find our way back through the small side streets. Palacio de las Especias has a wonderful rooftop with a lovely Berber style tent. The lobby and rooms are decked-out in colonial... More

We just spent three nights at this beautiful Riad and could not recommend it more highly. The place itself is equisite and has been decorated with extreme love and care- full of beautiful aesthetic details. The breakfast included is delicious and obviously prepared with care. Most of all though, we loved the staff- so helpful, warm and friendly. Simon in... More

This riad is a wonderful property in a great location in Marrakesh. It is in the medina but not where the souks are so it is not difficult to find it and go around while in Marrakesh. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay also thanks to Zak, Simon, Idris and Jamila. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the breakfast... More

We stayed for one night in this riad and stayed in a room which was absolute luxury. The decor was amazing - lots of artifacts from all over the world. The bathroom contained a magnificent copper bath which we did not actually use but looked amazing. I suspect care would require taken by visitors not to use too hot water!... More

Calm little haven in great location. Staff very helpful and kind. Breakfast delicious. Taxi rank very close to the Riad so if you are finding yourself getting a bit lost, grab a taxi for 50-70 dhms and it will get you most places in the medina and the new town. We got an airport transfer on our first day so... More

Marrakech stole our hearts and this Riad served as the oasis in the desert. As others have said it is beautiful and tranquil, the rooftop is amazing with mint tea and the sounds of prayer in the air. Not to mention turtle friends. The room was excellent, clean, and spotlessly maintained by the staff who even folded our clothes. The... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Palacio de las Especias recovers the splendour of a building erected in the 19th century. The building was originally owned by the Echerid family, who were spice merchants but, unfortunately, the years and neglect had taken their toll. Today, respecting the original building, but adapting it to provide the comfort that an establishment of this nature deserves, it opens its rooms from within the heart of the Medina, in order to provide its visitors with the enjoyment and relaxation they are looking for. The decor of its rooms, the coolness of its patios, the murmuring of its fountains and the peaceful evenings on the terrace mean that resting inside its rooms becomes the happy ending to a perfect day. ... more   less
