Riad Joya is a luxury intimate retreat nestled in the very heart of the Medina of Marrakech in the historical and protected area of the Mouassine, just few steps from the Djemaa el Fna square, the main monuments, the souk and the most exciting attractions of the “red city”.A gem of timeless beauty and sophisticated atmosphere, where discrete luxury fuses with eclectic style. The property reflects the traditional architecture of the riads, built around a small courtyard which is an oasis of tranquility, and features two stylish salons and a panoramic roof terrace. The roof top is the best place to savor a sumptuous breakfast, unwind during the aperitif ritual or surprise the one you love with a romantic dinner under the stars.

This was our fourth visit to Marrakech but the first to Joya. Prior to our arrival we had communicated about airport advise. Upon our arrival, at the Menara Airport, we were met and driven to Joya. The riad location is great, in the beautiful Old Medina, a stone’s throw from Jemaa El Fna square. The moment we walked inside the riad saw the birdbath fountain filled with rose petals; from that moment we knew we had walked into a dream. Joya captured our hearts, “our home away from home”. We had the chance to visit three rooms and every single one was magnificent ! Each room so unique, a perfect blend of architectural beauty. We stayed three nights in the Dar Arabe. Our butler, Noureddine, was a dream and the staff, trained with attention, paid to every detail; have been embraced by the most welcoming and dedicated people have never met. The rooftop was definitely a highlight of the trip, a so lovely sitting in the morning to have breakfast and dinner at night. We had dinner twice, food was amazing, delicious, fresh and tasty. We had also dinner at La Mamounia, one of the top hotels in Marrakech, but agreed ourselves that, at our next visit, will always dine at Joya. We could not rate this riad highly enough. We felt as if we were guests at some one’s home ! Shukran Joya !

It’s a pleasure to write this review to commend the fantastic work done by the team at Riad Joya. I guess the name of this place reflects fully the experience that Joya is there to provide. Every moment is a joy and a delight, from the morning breakfast to the dinner and the sleep at night, you feel totally relaxed and pampered. My room, Zanzibar, was wonderfully appointed. It was so well entertained that I was walking barefoot all the time and could actually enjoy the feeling of how clean the floor was. This is something I don’t usually do in hotels for obvious reasons. The large bathroom and the huge shower were perfectly tidy, with a window to get fresh air in and excellent water pressure, better than in a luxury grand hotel. I was observing the meticulous care and attention of the Moroccan lady who cleans the riad, she has worked at Joya since the opening, 12 years ago. She kept smiling at everyone all the time as she was passing through the courtyard of the Riad to go from one room to the other, she wasn’t showing any signs of fatigue even if I am sure her job must not be easy. The lovely manager who I had the pleasure of talking to several times, a kind human being with great dignity and respect, culturally open to great conversations. He is always there to assist you if you need anything. Speaks perfect English, though I was making an effort to use my French at every occasion. The very kind head waiter, who is doing a great job to make you fully enjoy your leisure time at the Riad. All of them have been at Joya for the same period of time, since it’s opening in 2010. Chef is also a very charming person, he has returned to his country in Morocco after many years spent working in different places oversea . He uses all the techniques he has learned in his years of work abroad, so the food is delicious and light at the same time, the use of the spices is well balanced, the fruit and vegetables he chooses have a good flavour as I understand he tries to buy mainly things that are in season. He has worked at Joya for several years now. Everyone was very kind and attentive, I think Joya makes a conscious effort to respect the people who work there as you can clearly see that the rapport that the staff has amongst them feels like a family. They help each other, smile to each other, even if you don’t speak the language you can understand that they way they speak amongst themselves is very respectful and quiet. This is beautiful to observe. I travel the world and rarely see so much sincere care put in the work by someone. It seems like the team enjoy what they do, the ladies at Joya put you in such good spirit even just looking at their gentle moves around the house. I have spent some time reading some of the many handwritten feedback left by other guests on a huge beautifully presented book that is available to guests in the lounge of the riad, to leave their feedback. There must be thousands of them, it seems the same book has been used since 2010, they were all so enthusiastic and praised the staff with such an admiration for what they do that is not so common to see. Children writings were the ones that made me smile the most, they were all so accurate in describing their feelings and their emotions about the stay, that is no wonder why they chose to stay in a place like Joya who gives so much positive emotions to people. When I stayed, an elderly couple, a father with his very young daughter, a solo female traveller in Marrakech for an interesting job assignment related to culture and four friends were there. All coming from different nationalities around the world, all extremely happy and open to exchange a few words, which made me feel very welcome. I have stayed for 4 nights, and have fully enjoyed every single moment, I felt very relaxed, though you are in a busy city and near the soul in the vibrant heart of Médina, you cannot even hear a sound. Had dinner at Joya 3 times and found the food so delicious and authentic Moroccan, that it didn’t make sense for me to go out to a restaurant when I could simply eat at home. This riad has what it takes to compete with luxury grand hotels for the attention to details in the service and in the decor, if you are looking for a more intimate experience than what larger hotels can provide, this is an extraordinary opportunity to enjoy one of the most beautiful beautifully designed homes we have ever seen and feel taken care by Joya wonderful staff. Well done Riad Joya and thanks for leaving me these wonderful memories of my stay in Marrakech. I will return as soon as I can.

The worst hotel experience of my life! Riad Joya is HORRIBLE. While my girlfriend was waiting to meet me in the lobby for breakfast, the hotel manager leered at her and asked, "did you come here for sex?" followed by, "do you want to have sex with me?" When she did not respond, he asked her, "are you mentally retarded?" Riad Joya's manager is a Moroccan man and I will refer to him as "N" for reasons of personal safety. My girlfriend, Amira, is Moroccan. There was no language barrier or miscommunication. (Amira is a pseudonym to protect my girlfriend from further harassment). I realize cultural differences exist, but I cannot believe this vulgar conduct is acceptable anywhere -- much less by a man who manages a 4 star hotel. I will be speaking with aggregators (hotels.com, booking.com, Expedia, etc.) to make them aware. This must be a violation of their code of conduct, not to mention their corporate values. I also hope to connect with the hotel's absentee owner to ensure he knows what is happening at his property. By local law, an unmarried Moroccan woman cannot share a hotel room with a man. This is normal in Morocco and not a surprise for anyone with a Moroccan significant other. So by prior arrangement, Amira stayed nearby. Our plan was for her to pick me up each morning at my hotel. On the morning of the incident, Amira arrived before I came downstairs. N made his lewd sexual overture while she was waiting for me. Thank God I arrived only a minute late and N's grotesque words did not turn into something far worse. Amira later told me that, at that moment, she felt overwhelmed with fear. At first, Amira did not explain what happened. I saw that she was deeply upset, but she would not tell me why. I suspected something was related to the hotel because after that morning, Amira refused to set foot on the property. During my stay at Riad Joya, I was very surprised by N's inexplicable hostility toward me. He insulted me several times for getting lost in the medina, angrily refused to answer basic questions about local tourist attractions and how to get around the city, etc. But I attributed N's rudeness to an obnoxious personality and lack of professionalism. Somehow, I didn't manage to put the pieces together! Finally, on the last day of our Marrakech trip, Amira told me about the sexual harrassment she suffered from N and her feelings of complete humiliation. I find it appalling that anyone is behaving this way in the year 2022. In reality, this predatory sexual behavior is just a form of violence against women and it is shameful. Almost surely this is neither the first such sexual harrassment incident from N nor the last. Sexual predators engage in these behaviors over and over again. Riad Joya needs to reform IMMEDIATELY and put a stop to this outrageous and completely unacceptable conduct.

Riad Joya exceeded ALL of my expectations! As a solo photojournalist traveling alone who was looking for a few days to relax after working in several countries, this was an oasis not just for my tired body but also my full heart. The beautiful setting of 7 rooms was intimate and peaceful. The hospitality by Noureddine and his team was truly AMAZING from moment one until I said goodbye several days later. They arranged for travel when needed, contacted excursion drivers to ensure my details, easily booked an on-site hammam bath and massage, shared directions and suggestions for experiencing the medina, and always asked if they could assist more. My room was attended to every time I left. In fact, I think I was greeted every morning and every time I arrived back to the Riad. I went on a dinner excursion in the desert and Noureddine stayed up very late to ensure my safe arrival back. Riad Joya is excellent at the special touches. Tea and cookies at arrival. Flowers, fresh snacks, and bottled water waiting in the room. Towel heater in the bathroom. The wifi was great, shower pressure fantastic, and the air conditioner kept me comfortable. The location is ideal as it is close to shopping and walking distance to the bustling medina but set far enough away to not hear a peep and to make one feel they're on a private island. Definitely take advantage of the Riad arranging a car service to meet you at the train station or airport as Joya is not an easy find by one's self. Noureddine was waiting for me outside the medina wall when I arrived by car and a gentleman transported my luggage by wheel barrel through the narrow alleys to the hidden gem. Likewise, the same process occurred when I left for the airport. Well worth the extra cost!!!! I know there are many beautiful places to stay in Marrakech but truly, if I come back whether alone or with guests, I will not stay anywhere else. I'm hooked. I look forward to my next stay at Riad Joya!!!

In the midst of the very hectic and chaotic Marrakech Medina is a haven of serenity, comfort and rest for your soul. Riad Joya is not only a beautiful and luxurious hotel offering comfort in a lovely setting. In addition, the service is impeccable. While Riad Joya may be the most finely appointed hotel we’ve stayed at it is the service which we will forever remember. The host, Noureddine, not only met us outside the Medina and walked us to the Riad, but also offered the same service when we departed. He also walked us to our favorite restaurant in the Medina, Cafe Arabe. He was an omnipresent source of assistance whenever we had a question or a need. Fernan, our waiter, was as pleasant and courteous as you could possibly imagine. And Chef Ahmad prepared us several amazing and delightful Moroccan dishes, always giving consideration to our requests. Riad Joya and it’s staff will always remain one of our fondest memories of travel on the road. You owe it to yourself to check it out.

Riad Joya is hidden gem that needs to be discovered. Situated at the heart of the Medina of Marrakesh, and still, once you enter the complex it is totally quiet. The riad is beautifully designed and mostly important, the staff is amazing. Nouradin and his team - they are the big joker of the riad. He helped me a lot: from escorting me from the airport, arranging a guide tour, joining me to pottery shopping, and being available on whatsapp for any question I had etc... The breakfast is great, and the big plus is that once you get out of the riad you are in the middle of everything. I really recommend this place for people who want to feel the beat of the medina. Prepare yourself to walk a bit, as in the medina vehicles are limited.

It is hard to find the right words to express our appreciation to Mr. Noureddine who runs this Riad and who extended superb personal attention and assistance – from early morning to late at night. This is the place to stay, a small Riad with 7 rooms, amidst the little alleys full of shops. Whilst the first walk to the Riad from Jemaa el-Fnaa place may look a bit confusing, it is in fact very easy to find your way – and – above very near to the center of Marrakech. The rooms are comfortable and kept very clean. Breakfast is nice and served in the little restaurant on the ground floor. But the real reason why you should stay in this Riad is Mr. Noureddine. He seems to know everything about Marrakech, was able to answer all our questions and solve all our little problems. After one night at this Riad we felt truly “home” and comfortable grace to him. We can highly recommend Riad Joya to anyone who looks for a small, intimate place, centrally located from where you can easily explore Marrakech by foot.

This was our first time in Marrakech and this is the only place we would choose to stay if we come again. Riad Joya is really something special and if it were possible to rate higher than a 5, they would get it. Besides how beautiful the building is, the service was top notch and so personal. Noureddine took care of organizing every detail for us and he really made our stay completely stress free. The rest of the staff were so friendly and attentive and the food in the restaurant was fantastic. Highly recommended.

We have recently returned from spending 3 nights at Riad Joya. Noureddine (the host), and his team were exceptional throughout. The wonderful service that we received began during the booking process, where we were afforded generous flexibility amidst changes in our arrival date. This continued when we were warmly greeted following a long drive back from the Sahara desert, and guided through the winding alleyways to the Riad. The team demonstrated their care and attentiveness on numerous occasions. On 2 of the nights we returned very late having enjoyed the Marrakech nightlife, Noureddine was more than happy to make arrangements for our return regardless of the time. Following one of our late nights, we caught up on sleep and sauntered downstairs at around 1pm. To our surprise, we were immediately offered breakfast, and the team laid-on a meal that was just as fresh and extensive as on the other days. There are several other examples like this, and we were constantly amazed by the level of treatment provided. During our stay we also took part in a cookery class with Chef Ahmed, who took us to the market to procure fresh ingredients, before showing us how to make some delicious dishes in the kitchen. Ahmed was great company, and an impressive chef! We hope to have the opportunity to visit again one day!
