The Riad is just beautiful and an oasis of calm amongst the hustle and bustle of Marrakesh. Laurence was so welcoming and gave us some really good tips on places to visit. The staff, Simon, Mohammed and Ali couldn’t do enough to help us and ensure that we had everything we could possibly need. We had the De la Croix room which was comfortable and nicely furnished. The weather was unexpectedly cold during our stay in January so the staff lit fires in the dining rooms and provided a heater for our room. The Riad provides evening meals which we opted for on a few occasions. The food was plentiful and exceptionally tasty. The Riad is situated in the Medina and It was about a 25 minute walk along a busy road into the main square. I would highly recommend the Riad Laurence Olivier if you are planning a trip to Marrakesh.

My wife and I have just returned from 3 wonderful days in Marrakech to celebrate our 50th Birthdays and stayed with Laurence and the team in Suite Matisse. We booked direct with Laurence as advised by previous guests which added to the experience as I built a rapport with her before arriving and also cut out the agency fees. Access to the Riad is from a busy road packed with donkey drawn carriages, motorbikes and taxis which is being resurfaced with beautiful cobbles to match many other areas of the Medina. As a few other guests have noted, it is located in an industrial part of the city, full of metal works, small factories and hardly any tourists and the road resurfacing meant it was quite dusty at peak times of the day. If you didn’t know where you were going, you may think twice about heading down the small, worn backstreet leading to the Riad, however we have a spirit of adventure, were with our transfer driver and embraced the authenticity of it all. On arrival, you are greeted through 2 stunning gold engraved doors and enter a cool and silent oasis that is as beautiful as the photos on the website. The owner, Laurence welcomed us and settled us with tea and home made cakes which were delicious. She took time to talk us through the facilities and gave us a map, noted with great areas to visit. She also advised a few do’s and don’t’s in Marrakech which were very welcome and served us well during our stay. The Riad is approx 1 mile from the main square which we happily walked but for some it may be easier to get a taxi for 50-70 dhiram, especially if you’re less adventurous than us as some of the streets you have to walk through may be off putting to some. Suite Matisse was beautifully appointed on the 1st floor with a huge, comfortable bed, lounge area, bathroom and separate living space (which we didn’t really use). It was exactly as expected and what we hoped for, staying in a traditional Riad. Our view from the room was of 2 beautiful orange trees that dominate the Riad’s interior. Breakfast can be served in two rooms on the ground floor and was lovely, with pancakes, yoghurt, fresh fruit, breads/cakes and home made honey, fig and apricot jams. We ate out every evening as we were only in Marrakech for 3 nights and wanted to experience the city, however have no doubt the food and service would have been fantastic. We enjoyed the roof terrace with its wonderful views and sunsets over a few glasses of wine. Laurence and team had no issue with us drinking what we brought from UK duty free, storing in their kitchen’s fridge and serving us as if we had bought from their bar with no charge. We did buy a bottle of red Moroccan wine which was very nice and only 15 Euro. At our request, Laurence arranged a guide (Abdul) who gave us a great overview of Marrakech, the Palace Bahia (we skipped a long queue as a result!) and especially the Souks taking us to authentic stores to purchase goods that were slightly off the beaten track and did not sell inferior copies, dressed up as Moroccan goods which had really been imported from China. Abdul was charming and at the end of the 4.5 hour tour left us at Restaurant Al Baraka, just off the main square which has a gorgeous garden and is one of the only places in the Medina to serve alcohol. He also carried our shopping back to the Riad whilst we enjoyed a lovely lunch. The whole experience was fabulous and was well worth the 40 Euros. Laurence and her whole team were very welcoming, the service was great and a a special thanks to Simon for often going the extra mile, ordering us taxi’s, negotiating the fare and always with a warm smile. Laurence also gave my wife a gift on her birthday which was a lovely and generous gesture. If you’re looking for authentic Marrakech, warm personal service at very competitive rates then we highly recommend.

We enjoyed a great week here over Christmas and the Riad was a Haven of calm amidst the bustling chaos of Marrakesh. The staff were super, the food great and the building has been beautifully restored but it is in a very deprived part of town and not many will enjoy walking through it.

Stayed at the riad for 4 nights in total and it was such a beautiful experience. The staff were lovely and provided tips on how to navigate around Marrakech. It really felt like a home away from home. The breakfast every morning was amazing and different each time, the details in the decor was absolutely amazing with each room having a different theme. The rooms were large, gorgeous and comfortable. I felt very safe and peaceful and it was lovely heading back to the riad after a busy and buzzing day in the main square. The location was perfect, didn’t need a taxi at all and was a lovely short walk to the souks, main attractions and main square. The staff truly made the experience and all seemed to have a good relationship with one another. It was definitely one to remember and we will definitely visit again! Very seamless experience :)

We spent 3 nights at the Riad in November 2022. It was absolutely beautiful! The Riad is a little piece of heaven in the middle of the craziness of Marrakesh. The room was lovely and very comfortable. The staff were brilliant and went out of their way to make us comfortable and help us with anything we needed. Breakfast was lovely outside in the garden by the pool. It’s a good 30 min walk to the centre of the medina, so, be prepared for a walk, however, this wasn’t a problem for us! And taxis were very reasonable if we didn’t feel like walking! I can’t recommend highly enough! Would love to return one day! Thank you to all at Riad Laurence Olivier 💕

Our 5 day stay at The Laurence Olivier Riad will be something my wife and I will never forget. This was our first visit to Marrakesh and from the moment we arrived at the Riad we were made to feel like old friends. The staff of Mohammed, Simone and Ali were superb and nothing was ever too much trouble . Marrakesh is fantastically diverse and a very busy city and after a day walking around the Medina the Riad is a place of calm and sanctuary where you can recharge over a cup of mint tea, or a glass of wine. The rooms are good and very traditional in their style . We originally stayed in the Yves St Laurent room which is accessed off the roof terrace . A small but perfectly proportioned room which was nicely secluded down a small flight of steps off the terrace and styled in the colours of YSL. We then upgraded to a suite at no extra cost, which has a spacious bedroom , bathroom and dressing room all beautifully decorated in a traditional style . This review could go on and on about the quality of this Riad, from the attentive staff the lovely breakfasts by the pool and the wonderful owner Laurence but I will try to sum it up in a few words - well one actually . BRILLIANT !

Wow. What an amazing 5 days. I can’t recommend this place enough. From the location to the breakfast!! Location-wise it was just 10 mins from the square and we were so thankful for the pool in the end as I don’t think we realised how crazy it would be! We spent a lot of our days chilling by the pool or on the rooftop which was heaven. The staff were so so friendly and couldn’t have done enough for us. They sorted out all of our taxis, even airport collection and also our private trip to the desert for a great price. The breakfast each day was served til 12pm which was great for those late lie in! I am allergic to gluten and they did their best to accommodate, which I appreciate isn’t the easiest when all local homemade breads are made with gluten. We had the amazing mint tea whenever we asked and was never charged. We also got a upgrade to the suite after day 1 and it was quite honestly breathtaking. Email and book direct to save ££ !! Thank you for the most magical stay.

Such a stunning riad, beautiful and classic, the atmosphere, relaxation and comfort was second to none, the staff and owner were very helpful, genuine and had fantastic customer service, we felt like part of the family, the rooms are luxurious, the pool and walled garden were stunning, we ate here for breakfast everyday, which was sublime, tables layed up beautifully with linen etc, lunch and evening meal were fabulous which we did a couple of times (4 day trip) .. the owner is so lovely and very helpful with ideas of where to eat, see and transfers. We love Marrakesh and this is our go to place to stay now, 5* service , it’s about a 15 minute walk to the median, which we were given a map to help us, ( it’s easy to find) stunning views in the evening from the roof top terrace, we had the best hamman and massage here which was arranged for us by the owner, we can’t wait to go back

Loved the fact that the Riad is right in the heart of the REAL Marrakech. It's been renovated beautifully and authentically. The staff were amazing and friendly especially Simon who organised a day trip to the Atlas Mountains for us and taught us how to barter. Breakfast was authentic Moroccan and VERY tasty. Would recommend asking the Riad to collect you from the airport as it would be very difficult to find it the first time without some help. We were charged €15 for the taxi.
