Riad Laurence Olivier looks forward to welcoming you on your visit to Marrakech.
Loved the fact that the Riad is right in the heart of the REAL Marrakech. It's been renovated beautifully and authentically. The staff were amazing and friendly especially Simon who organised a day trip to the Atlas Mountains for us and taught us how to barter. Breakfast was authentic Moroccan and VERY tasty. Would recommend asking the Riad to collect you from the airport as it would be very difficult to find it the first time without some help. We were charged €15 for the taxi.
We stayed a week in this raid, very nice building and pretty bedrooms ,it has a lovely roof terrace . We ate there twice but found that there was nothing to do after our meal and it did get cold in the evening . The centre heating failed to come on except for 2 evening and never in the mornings so we and the other guests were very cold
A quiet and peaceful place in the Medina. Fifteen to twenty minutes walking to Jamaa El-Fna. The Riad es beautiful, breakfast is great. All personal make you feel at home, always nice and help you as their best. Nice and clean room.
I cannot emphasize the Joy we felt at the Riad Laurence Olivier enough. We were there a total of ten days and were able to experience a couple of different rooms. Each room tells a unique story, with the choice of color and presentation of the space. Very beautiful and sparkling clean! The attention to detail is loving and precise, from the decor to the beautiful smell of the soap. The staff is kind and considerate, many have been working here for five to ten years! There is a feeling of trust and a sense of home after coming in from the hectic market scene. The main square is a short walk away, though you may want to plan a day to just sit around the Riad by the pool, or get a spa treatment. The breakfast is really good and dinner in the garden has a lovely atmosphere. You can see the birds flying during the day, and these small cute bats at dusk. Make sure to witness either sunrise or sunset on the roof top. Laurence, the owner and manager is a loving host. She is also a very interesting person that has written several books, ask her about them! Her care and passion for Marrakech and the Riad shows. She is available often for warm conversations and recommendations for her guests. You will enjoy this treat/trip!…
It's not just a great place, it's not just its wonderful instantions but the staff is even better. We will always be grateful to the Riad for its impeccable treatment and service. It is a fairytail!!!!
ROOM – We stayed in a gorgeous, spacious, blue themed room. It was very large with a comfortable firm double bed. The room was really beautiful with traditional Moroccan style furnishings. The room has excellent AC and proper windows which close fully (unlike like some other Riad hotels I have stayed in). The bathroom was clean and practical, built in a typical style with stunning blue mosaic tiles. We loved the bathroom amenities too! LOCATION- The Riad Lawrence Olivier is in a great area of Marrakech, in the Old Town medina area of the city, about 10 minutes walk from the busiest areas and restaurants. It feels very safe around this part of the medina and I enjoyed walking around the quiet streets and taking photos. I also walked to the Koutoubia mosque from the riad very easily. FACILITIES – The entire riad is simply stunning and so photogenic, I don’t know what my favourite part of it was! I loved the cool central courtyard with lovely trees and greenery surrounding a picturesque mosaic tiled fountain water feature. I also thought the roof terrace was fantastic, with sun beds, tables and chairs, wonderful plants, and views across the city in every direction. The highlight for most people is probably the large swimming pool which is in full sunlight at around midday, but in part shade in the morning and late afternoon. Overlooking the pool is a very pretty tiled yard with daybeds, and another impeccable mosaic water feature. FOOD – We loved our breakfast every morning at Riad Lawrence Olivier! It was always delicious and picture perfect. It was great that we could choose a different spot to eat every morning (we ate on the roof one day and by the pool another day). The coffee was good and we enjoyed the traditional tea as well. The fresh orange juice and delicious seasonal fruit bowls were a highlight, as were the fresh baked roti pancakes and home made fig jam. STAFF – Simmo the doorman, and acting manger was lovely. His English is not perfect, but he is very good at his job, very pleasant to deal with, and offers great suggestions for restaurants and cafes as needed.…
Our room was beautiful! We were three people and we had one large room with a full sized bed, a couch and TV, a bathroom that connected to a smaller room with another bed and small table. The staff were very accommodating! They even made us a full spread of breakfast at 4am before our flight. The breakfast was very good, traditional Moroccan breads and pastries. The only thing is that it smelled like horses near the pool which was a little unpleasant. But other than that, had a great stay.
This is a beautiful Riad, truly an oasis in the heart of the Medina madness and mayhem. 15 minutes walk from the hustle and bustle, it is wonderful to return to peace and tranquility. With stunning roof terrace views across Marrakesh and out to the Atlas mountains, the sunset and sunrises are totally breathtaking. We arrived and were immediately greeted by the warm and friendly staff who could not do enough to look after us. The delicious Berber breakfast was served and we were totally relaxed and ready for the day. With a beautiful pool and terrace as well as the Riad courtyard and many relaxing rooms, there is plenty of space in addition to the lovely bedrooms to read and chill out. Laurence and her team of staff are wonderful hosts. I would highly recommend this Riad and look forward to returning again soon. Many thanks again…
Excellent riad. Good staff and good food. Well priced. Very nice pool. Having read some of the other reviewssince we got home I would liketo defend the small roof terrace rom - we thought it was a great price - lovely to be on the top floor and have the terrace area all to yourselves. I can appreciate people who had expected larger rooms would be a tad disappointed but having had a recent visit to Kenya where some of the "deluxe" rooms were a disgrace we thought this little riad was great. My only concern on being dropped off by the taxi was .... if I hadn't booked with Vogage Prive I would not have gotten out of the cab. The "alley way" you walk down to get to the riad is pretty grim - so beware but once you are at the door of the riad you're fine to go! The walk to the medina is very "authentic" - too much so for me - its workshops, donkeys pulling carts of cement, car repairs etc - to be honest - not to my liking and looking over the walls of the roof terrace makes you think you are in a very different place. So all in all - its a lovely riad, its close to the centre but I should probably have been in the modern part of town rather than the old part. On the other hand my husband loved it (did a motorcycle trip across Morocco last year - so he is more accustomed than me!)…
My wife and I stayed with Lawrence for 11 days over the new year. Our stay was first class. Laurence made recommendations on where to visit and what to do, her recommendations fitted our needs perfectly. The staff were all wonderful. The Riad was just perfect. The food was amazing, we ate in the Riad on two nights, we would have enjoyed eating there every night had we not wanted to try different places. The roof top garden is an idyllic escape in the sun all day long. Great place, have no reservations I assure you that you will come back super happy like we did. Even the people out in the street know and admire Laurence and do all they can to help her guests. 5 Stars all the way. See you soon Laurence. Pete and Kirsten
