We celebrated our honeymoon in Morocco, with 4 nights it the most beautiful Riad in Marrakech. The house is wonderfully decorated, with a quiet and intimate atmosphere (only 3 rooms), an amazing rooftop terrace where a delicious and freshly cooked breakfast is served every morning by Dris (a very nice and discrete local). Bruno and Guy are perfect hosts, very...

My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary and had a lovely stay at Dar Oulhoum. Bruno and Guy could not have been better hosts. Advising on where to eat, visit and even negotiated a tea-pot purchase in the Souk. The house is beautiful with a fantastic rooftop garden where we enjoyed breakfast and recovered from the madness in...

I was in town for a long weekend (of work) but wanted to experience the Medina. Dar Oulhoum was simply wonderful. I stayed in the Bali room which was comfy and stylish and had a lovely en-suite complete with all the necessities for a self-administered mini hammam! Breakfast each morning was up on the roof terrace. With a view of...

This beautiful hotel was a highlight of our visit to Marrakech. The care and attentiveness of the hotel proprietors really make this hotel extraordinary. They have decorated the common areas and bedrooms sumptuously, and they went out of their way to help us feel comfortable and enjoy the city -- helping us book spas, rides, fabulous places to eat, and...

The managers, Bruno and Guy, are a lovely couple and this is their home with artifacts scattered about from their various travels. And, just like the reviews state, Bruno and Guy are helpful, courteous and go out of their way to create a good “spiritual vibe.” However, when we arrived, we could not get over how incredibly cramped this place...

As the title suggests this hotel offers a really excellent service, that goes above and beyond what one would normally expect. The owners ask you to treat it as your home; and provided great hospitality from the moment we arrived. This ranged from having your own guidebook to avoid getting lost around the Medina; to advising us of the best...

I'm not exaggerating when I say the best thing about Marrakech is Dar Ouloum. Our trip would not have been as amazing without the help of hosts Bruno and Guy. The riad is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and is in a perfect location - close enough to easily walk to the souks, great restaurants, Jamaa el Fna and all the sights, but far enough away to be very quiet and peaceful. The rooms are large, bathroom is great with a huge bathtub and good shower, and the bed is comfortable....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Dar Oulhoum tells me a story ... The mid-nineteenth century, under the reign of Sultan Hassan 1st (born Hassan ben Mohammed in 1836 in Fez and died on 7 June 1894 in Tadla), a vizier (high-ranking official, with an adviser or minister from Muslim leaders), chooses a prime location to build this beautiful Riad, near the mausoleum of Sidi Ben Slimane (one of the seven saints of Marrakech latter being the founder of Sufism in Morocco), a sign of power. The proximity of the holy mausoleum, gave him a high respect. In the late nineteenth century, before the French protectorate, this place was that of a Spanish bank and a British legation. During the restoration of the Riad, existing telephone line upon arrival in 2000 of the weapons found at the bottom of the well and an enamelled plaque written in Arabic and Spanish testament to the power of the family that gave its name to the Derb.
