Riad Luciano is a magical place by its mixture between the traditional Moroccan style that we find as soon as we cross the front door with doors of craftsmen, plasters of tadelakt, sculptures on plaster, mosaics and zelliges; and the Italian touch of Monsieur Luciano which is found in the height of the ceilings, the lamps, the living room and in the bathrooms fitted with walk-in showers and bidets. The Riad is located within the Medina, in a quiet street in the middle of the Dar el Bacha district, one of the most beautiful and most secure in Marrakech. The palace of Dar El Bacha and its surroundings are monitored 24/24 by the royal guard. Jamaa El Fna square is a 15-minute walk through the souks and bazaars which are just a few strides away. My Swiss husband acquired this Riad for some time and I just took over the management after renovations / improvements in December 2019. I am Moroccan by birth, having lived in Switzerland for more than 20 years, I take care of the organization and it is for me an honor to be able to offer impeccable and precise service as in Switzerland, warm and generous as in Morocco. I expect many of you in our comfortable Riad where a warm and friendly atmosphere awaits you. Laila Krattiger

We went to celebrate my birthday in Marrakesh and I have to say this Riad was the perfect location for it. We stayed in the Amir room. The room was beautiful and the service at Riad Luciano was perfect. The staff are the friendliest and fulfilled al our needs. For my birthday the hotel reserved a table next to their pool and brought out a birthday cake during breakfast. So very kind of them. We will always remember our perfect stay at Riad Luciano.

Hotel's Favorite
My partner and I had the most amazing 10 days at the riad. We enjoyed the comforts of the hotel and lounging by the most beautiful pool area playing cards and enjoying the glorious sunsets on the roof top, I finished a lovely book in the wonderfully designed entertainment room. The food was all delicious and the spa was excellent! Another leading factor of the stay was the brilliant and most amazing attendance of Btissam and Jamal. They were the most welcoming, helpful, and kind people. I have never experienced the type of care they took with us. A***** The room was wonderful and large. Great large bathroom with hair dryer. Excellent daily cleaning. Refrigerator and great air con! Also double closet space in our room! Very comfortable bed. No complaints! Also location is brilliant right in the middle of things and more close to gardens and things located outside of the medina. We would love come stay again. Highly recommended. Thank you for everything, we are very thankful!!

Fantastic staff that treat you like family and willing to assist with a warm smile. A beautiful well appointed Riad where you can escape to a Moroccan oasis. Lovely traditional breakfast served with care. Great location with easy access to Souks and also Dar El Bacha where taxis are easily found and safe due to good security.

We travelled to Marrakech from Gran Canaria, substituting a huge, palatial "all inclusive" hotel for a trip into the unknown (for us at least) in Marrakech. Flight timings dictated a late arrival into Marrakech airport, which necessitated some earlier discussions with Riad Luciano. Btissam (Manager of the Riad) had arranged for us to be met at the airport for transfer into the city. We duly straggled through the airport passport control and security. Despite previous indications that the process of leaving the airport could be lengthy, we quite quickly whistled through. The airport is very modern and any concerns we had about changing our Euros to Dirhams were quickly dismissed as, even at 0030hrs in the morning, the exchange offices were fully manned and money was exchanged very quickly. On passing through security we were quickly met by our transfer driver, who had excellent English and gave us some interesting information for our visit of 5 nights. The Riad is positioned north of the main square and very slightly to the west of the main souk areas. There is no access for cars, so our driver dropped us off at the nearest point, just on Av. El Glaoui at the start of Rte. Sidi Abdelaziz which is a cobbled lane which extends for about 400yds into the souk area. We were met at this point by one of the members of staff from the hotel, who was very helpful and walked us the 200 yards along Rte. Sidi Abdelaziz till we turned left into about 400yds of narrow winding lanes which brought us to the door of the Riad. We were then quickly given the keys to our room and at 0200hrs we had a quick whisky or 3 before having a huge sleep. The arrival process from Airport to bed was fantastically smooth and we were made to feel very welcome which given that it was our first trip to Marrakech and it was early in the morning, it was greatly appreciated. What can we say about the hotel? The Riad design makes it feel very tranquil, very safe and very welcoming. The hotel is basically just a beautiful oasis within the medina. From Btissam, her staff and the chef we could not have asked to meet more helpful, professional and kind people. It was a joy to be there. The hotel is scrupulously clean and beautifully appointed. Before booking we considered utilising some of the larger hotels outside the medina, I am sure they are good, but we are so glad we stayed in the Riad. Its location allows easy access to all the sights and smells of this wonderful city and, without moving into hyperbole, I have stayed in many hotels in many countries and Riad Luciano is the best hotel (by a long distance) that I have ever stayed in. Truly wonderful. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms (Bacha) for 5 nights, however the hotel has many areas to relax including a beautiful roof terrace, so we did not feel constricted by this. The room was still a fair size with a sizeable en suite with a powerful shower, We ate in the restaurant on one occasion, and the food was excellent. I cannot thank Btissam and her staff enough for their kindness and professionalism. Our transfer back to the airport was seamlessly organised by the hotel and I cannot think of any negative aspects of our stay.

What a wonderful experience - each and every staff member here was absolutely delightful and very attentive. We booked a transfer from the airport to the hotel since it was our first time in Marrakech, and the driver was waiting for us when we arrived. The Riad down a few pedestrian only streets, so we were met as close as the car could get, by another staff member on foot. Once we knew our way, we were able to get back to the Riad easily but the staff still accompanied us to the meeting place if we were going on a prearranged trip. We were mainly in town for a wedding, so we hadn’t planned much in advance - the staff helped us decide what day trips we might like to take, booked everything for us and sorted out all the logistics. The trips we did were great and I can’t wait to go go back and see more! On our way back to the airport, they were honest and said a prearranged drive would be more expensive, but gave us great tips and suggested prices for us to pick up a local cab. Breakfast each day was really tasty and more than plenty, I would recommend not missing this! If you would like dinner at the Riad, it’s good to put your dinner orders in earlier in the day as some meals can take longer to prepare - but on the days that we hadn’t planned this well, we were happy to have whatever was available and the wonderful chef was still able to make us some amazing dishes with what she had. I really can’t recommend Riad Luciano enough - you really feel like you’re well looked after and you’re right in the middle of a beautiful place!

10/10 would recommend Riad Luciano! During my 2-week trip to Morocco, I switched Riads every few nights, and stayed in various accommodations including tents in the desert and 4-5 star Riads. In terms of room quality, staff service, cleanliness, and location, Luciano stands out as having the best overall experience in my view. Location – it is located inside the Medina, near the Dar el Bacha museum. DO NOT TRY TO FIND IT ON YOUR OWN! You will get lost as Google Maps does not show all the narrow streets and alleys in the Medina. Give them a call when you arrive and they will tell you a destination point to get dropped off at and a staff will come and pick you up. My group and I arrived from the train station, took a taxi, and had no issues. The hotel staff even gave us a reasonable guideline for taxi prices. The inside of the Riad is beautiful and as captured in pictures. There are several shared seating areas in addition to the pool, and the roof top terrace is also an excellent place to lounge. The rooms warmed up quickly with heaters (it was December!) and were so cozy and comfortable. Thoughtfully furnished and clean. What stayed with me the most was the genuine hospitality of their Staff - Btissam, Mohammed and Ismael, were who we interacted with the most, and they were super friendly and professional. Btissam was so eager to hear about our daily excursions, provided crucial advice when it came to bargaining in the souks and for taxis. She gave my group numerous tips on navigating around the Medina and how not to get scammed. Each day when we returned to the Riad she genuinely wanted to hear what we had been up to and it felt like catching up with a friend. It was very fun just chatting with her. Ismael was also so helpful in making sure that we were comfortable and taken care of, and offering advice on the best places to visit. Also a special shutout to Mohammed – who literally saved our lives when our bags were lost enroute to Morocco. Since neither of us spoke anything other than English, he helped us make calls to our airline and the local airport to help us try to locate our luggage. He was able to get real information on the tracking whereas I had no luck when trying to call myself. I really appreciated his help and was able to have a wonderful rest of my trip because of his efforts.

Riad Luciano was an amazing place to stay!! It was my husband and our 2 year old son for a few nights in October. We stayed in the Sultan Suite, which was perfect! Very spacious, clean, big comfortable bed, lots of room for our items, made it easy to feel at home for our stay. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay amazing - arranged airport transfers, assisted with our bags, recommendations, directions, coordinated a night to the desert for us, helped make things as easy as possible for us with our toddler, etc. I truly cannot say enough about the staff. Every person was exceptional! The breakfast was incredible, so delicious. I am still dreaming about the tea and Moroccan Pancakes. The pool was a fun bonus, we loved taking a dip. Location was also great - within the medina but tucked away a bit. It was very easy to walk into the main part of the medina, but nice to not be in center of it all. Everything was perfect. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend Riad Luciano to anybody.

Stayed with friends in Dec 2022 in the Marocain suite. Pros: Very beautiful and modern Riad, friendly staff. Nice breakfast (fresh orange juice, tea or coffee, an egg, bread with jams and dips, yoghurt, crepe) and ample space to lounge around in the common areas. There is also a small little pool you could use, but it's not heated in winter so you'd probably only want to take a dip in summer. Ismail and Muhammed were super friendly and did their utmost to accommodate all our requests. The room itself is beautiful, and the bathroom has a beautiful half barrel ceiling reminiscent of local hammams, with a huge shower area as well as his and hers sinks. The whole Riad is clean and well maintained, and it is quiet at night. Cons: Getting to the Riad is a little tricky for any first time visitor. It's tucked away in a small street (Terazine? I forget) and though I'd booked directly with the hotel, they didn't send any instructions on how to make our way to the Riad - Google maps is not accurate. We called the hotel and they sent someone to meet us at Abdelaziz Street near Hammam de la Rose. It's about a 3min walk in on cobblestone streets, so hopefully your luggage isn't too heavy. Four of the wall sockets on the side of the king sized bed were not working at all when we arrived - the staff promised to fix it when we got back at night, but in the end we had to wait until the night after for it to be fixed. This made the room unevenly lit and dim, as there are no ceiling lights. Plus, we could not charge more than one of our devices without taking out one more lamp. It took a fair bit of discussion before they thought to bring up a multisocket extension. The cleaning staff also came in to the room twice between 9 to 10am to try to clean the room, assuming that 2pax were downstairs having breakfast despite it being a triple occupancy room (and it being booked for said pax). We asked for the room not to be made up, but the cleaning staff did so anyway - putting my sleeping clothes on top of my dirty luggage. Restitution was eventually agreed upon at 10% of the entire stay, but only after much negotiation as well as a strict requirement to post a tripadvisor review (the staff wanted me to show proof on the spot of the submitted review before she gave the partial refund). Conclusion: Riad Luciano is a beautiful hotel whose service is very good, with some slight exceptions. Some potential improvements could be: - give the option of a Do Not Disturb sign - Provide more electrical sockets in rooms, and ensure that an 'all off switch' only affects lights, rather than sockets that could be used for charging. - add some form of ventilation in the bathroom; after two showers, the room gets filled with steam that can only be dispersed by opening a window. - provide clear instructions to guests on how to get to the hotel, no matter which method of booking is used. Don't expect guests to pay for airport transfers.

Thank you very much for your review. Please note that we recommend and offer the airport transfers on request, this is part of our first email welcoming you when you book your trip. This include door-to-door service including luggage transportation. We cannot be held responsible for your interactions with people in the Medina which are not working for Riad Luciano. The most disturbing part of your comment is on the strict requirement to post a review. In fact, you have required a 10% discount for the missing sockets and another 10% for the cleaning staff knocking on your door, threatening us to leave a bad review. When we agreed to give you the discount you required, we didn't require you to post a nice review, otherwise how could you have posted this review ? We were considering offering you an upgrade since a better room was free, but when you asked for 20% discount treating us to leave a bad review, we realized it was worthless. In another review you left on TripAdvisor you were complaining about the lack of signs on the roads in the "desert", maybe another attempt to get 20% discount on this trip too ? We wish you a safe trip back home. Best regards,

Fabulous Riad in the Medina. Clean and spacious. The staff were fantastic and nothing was too much bother. Easy walking distance to the main square, Mosques and souks with plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby. Watch out on your pick up from the airport, particularly if you booked transport with booking.com. The drivers are supposed to phone the Riad so the staff can meet you at the drop off point (usually the main police station at one end of the Medina) to walk you to the Riad, 5 mins away. They don't and leave you to the local transport lads who charge 200DR (£15-£20) for the 5 minute walk with your bags - can be quite intimidating as there are usually 3-4 lads escorting you!! Common occurrence apparently with Booking.com. Don't let this last issue put you off though - this Riad is fabulous and well worth a stay.
