Dar Seffarine was the most beautiful place that we stayed during our two week trip to Morocco. We don't normally splurge for a suite, but we loved the extra space and all of the details that went into making our room and sitting room extra cozy. We ate dinner at Dar Seffarine twice during our stay, and can honestly say they were the best meals that we had in Fes. It was very fun to be staying in the heart of the medina and to sit on the terrace and listen to the workers in Seffarine Square. The staff also helped arrange a half day walking tour and driver to see Volubilis. All of the staff were so welcoming as well. If we come back to Fes, we will definitely stay at Dar Seffarine again!

My partner and I stayed at Dar Seffarine's Blaine room for four nights and we were blown away by the quality of the room and guesthouse. The tile and woodwork quality was top notch, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious. The service was friendly with an excellent breakfast spread and great rooftop views. At a cost of €85 per night, the quality is on par with (or even better than) many hotels that cost double or triple the price. Highly recommended when staying in Fes.

Wonderful boutique hotel experience. Gorgeous rooms and rooftop. Breakfast and dinner were spectacular. Several months later and I’m still longing for the pumpkin and lentil soups!! One of the most special hotels I’ve ever stayed at—a rare case where the hotel itself is a core aspect of what makes the stay in Fez so special.

What a wonderful gem in Fez - my wife and I stayed here for 3 nights during our stay. Alaa, Kate and their team are really hospitable and attentive and when we arrived quite late (9pm) after a day of travelling, they welcomed us with a feast. The location is perfect, tucked in a quite side street of the bustling Medina and close enough to a gate to make going in and out of the medina easy. The interior courtyard of this Dar is absolutely gorgeous, rooms were very well decorated and comfortable, the rooftop views are simply amazing - you should take a look at the photo album of the restoration to truly appreciate the effort and care that went into the house. I highly recommend coming back to the rooftop in time for sunset for a view of the whole city while listening to the call to prayer. Food here is excellent too, we've had 2 dinners and breakfasts here, and we really enjoyed our meals. We would be lucky to come back!

Absolutely wonderful. Huge gorgeous rooms, incredible central courtyard, terrific location, beautiful rooftop for relaxing and listening to the sunset call to prayer after a long day of touristing. The staff are invested in your experience and you should take any opportunity to eat meals here as they're incredible, especially for vegetarians. There is no central AC but each room has an AC unit over the bed and a rotating fan, which when combined with the high ceilings was completely sufficient for hot days. You'll never have to manage your luggage on the stairs, but if you need a ground floor room make sure to request it. Similarly, the WiFi is stronger in some rooms than others so make sure you request any preferences when making your reservation. Stayed here for a week, ate most meals here, and cannot wait to return.

After arriving in Fez from the UK we had a bit of a culture shock when our taxi pulled up to Bab R’cif. We loved it. Our taxi driver (airport pick up was organised through the hotel), walked us through the maze of the Medina to Dar Safferine. We were welcomed in and given mint tea and although our late arrival 9pm meant we had missed dinner, our host served us some lovely lentil soup. We were shown to our room after marvelling at the architecture in this exquisite Dar (not a Riad as our host explained). I chose a room with separate sleeping areas for my daughter and although not luxurious I loved the charm and quirks of this traditional old building. Breakfast and dinner was served outside in a lovely courtyard and there is a roof terrace for views over the Medina. It felt very homely staying here and we were well looked after. Our room was very reasonable. We paid €95 per night including breakfast. Thank you for a lovely stay.

What a Riad, what a place, what a home. This Riad is truly one-of-a-kind. The slogan they love to use is 'Feel at home' and they truly mean it. The owner Alaa will welcome you like you're his own relative who has come to stay. Feel at home to walk through the kitchen into the courtyard, enjoy the best dinner you will eat in Fes- and that is a fact. Admire the incredible Islamic architecture that will never fail to take your breath away. This is the place to feel like a Sultan, and simultaneously, feel right at home. The rooms transport you to another time, as you look around and imagine all the walls have seen from 600 years ago to now. The rooftop is a balm to the tired and weary souls traipsing around the Medina all day. But really, the most wonderful thing about this place- if I had to choose just one- is the conversations you will have here. This Riad is designed to create spaces of sharing- be it food, memories, wisdom, time. This isn't a place you will ever feel alone or lonely. This is a place where you will bask in the joy of living. A thousand compliments to this glorious Riad where I have left my heart.

A colleague recommended this house, and we were thrilled with what we got. We were still in a warm-up phase for this foreign culture, and Fes is a strict place religiously, especially during Ramadan. With the largest medina in Morocco, we were well advised to have the hotel arrange our arrival with a taxi driver to take us right in front of the hotel door. Once we arrived, we could hardly believe our eyes. The 15th-century house is a palace inferior only in size to the city's palaces. Well preserved and carefully and tastefully restored, these rooms allow you to experience Arab architecture and culture. Our room was vast and wonderful. The service in the house is very courteous, attentive and, in contrast to the ambience, modern. The view from the house's roof is spectacular and makes the sight of the sunset, and thus in Ramadan, the beginning of iftar, a visual and an acoustic experience. We booked a guide through the Dar Seffarine, who took us through the medina for three hours and enlightened us about Arab culture within Morocco. This, of course, included visits to various shops with sales performances. If you want to walk the medina streets on your own, I recommend arranging a Moroccan sim card for your phone so you can use Google Maps to find your way. Don't be put off by the many young men who approach you blatantly, sometimes rudely, to show you the way. Pay attention to them, look them in the eye, and, if necessary, decline their offer in a friendly but firm manner. It would help if you had a few Arabic phrases of politeness ready. This way, you will quickly gain the self-confidence to transform yourself from a tourist to a human counterpart in this for locals sometimes-unstable environment. We enjoyed our time in Fes and Dar Seffarine, overcame our initial culture shock, and learned our lesson. Thank you very much! We had a wonderful time.

Just a fantastic place: the historic building (after a 7-year meticulous restoration) in a terrific location within steps of the Keirouane, the room (we were lucky enough to stay in one of the 2 suites, but all rooms look great), the home cooked dinner, the terrace, the "family" atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.

The photos don’t really do Dar Seffarine justice, it is one of the most unique places we have ever stayed. The house has been restored beautifully and to top it of you have a calming roof terrace to see all of Fes from. The food was delicious, we would recommend having dinner at the riad during your stay at least once. The staff are so friendly and happy to help. We really loved it and would recommend to all.
