Riad n°9 is an 18th century bourgeois residence that has been reincarnated as a boutigue bed and breakfast. The decisive factor in purchasing the property was the roof terrace which has sweeping views over the medina. Riad n°9 was originally purchased as a vacation home in 1999 and underwent a 3-year restoration process. We uncovered all the original 18th century mosaics, carved wood and plaster and hand-painted wood. In 2007, we opened to the public and changed nothing believing guests would appreciate the "personal" touches throughout. Our philosophy is to offer guests the possibility of appropriating the space for themselves and experiencing what an authentic medina home feels like.

I researched Boutique Hotel and Riad 9 came up. As soon as I saw what Stephen Direnza had done in terms of restoration and choice of objects, I knew it was the right place for us. It totally was. Exquisitely done and there is nowhere else. Our room was immense with a restored ceiling to die for. We could have just stayed there! 1940s dentist chairs as towel holders. YES. We were wonderfully looked after - different breakfast every day - by the fabulous Attica. There's a roof terrace which is amazing too. It is not yer average riad. This is special. It's an experience. A thing of beauty created by designer Stephen.

Stayed 2 nights during our Morocco tour. Had a small room appropriate for small people. (I bumped my head twice and I’m 5’8”.) Great service and restaurant recommendations. The roof top is great for a sunset glass of wine.

Wonderful Riad meticulously and gorgeously redone and furnished. The attention to detail is beyond words and the service was outstanding and their willingness to help in any way made our time in Fes very comfortable. Highly recommend staying in the top room and going to the rooftop. Stephen was responsive throughout all our planning and Atika was a fantastic hostess.

We loved our time here - we were there in April 2019 and actually were the only guests during our 2 nights in Fes. The riad was stunning to enter - hidden behind an unassuming door - it doesn't need the eye pop of Riad Fes because it is absolutely beautiful in its own right. We were given the top room which was even more impressive than the room we booked. The ceilings must have been 15-20 feet which was incredible and the room was huge. Breakfast on the roof was one of the most picturesque moments of our time in Morocco. Views of the hillside, of the Medina and the rest of Fes. Stephen and team organized a tour guide for the medina for a day and he was absolutely excellent. The best guide we had in Morocco (we liked him more than other guides we had in other cities).
