Stayed at the Iberostar Waves Founty Beach in Agadir, and it was overall a positive experience, though a few areas could use improvement.
Pros: The resort itself is well-maintained, though slightly dated. A modern touch would likely elevate it to 5 stars. The best part of our stay was definitely the staff, who were warm, helpful, and welcoming. Customer service in person was excellent, though assistance over the phone wasn’t always easy to get – often, I had to walk to the front desk to get help, which can be a bit of a trek if you’re staying at the sea-view end of the resort.
The rooms were very clean, though the decor could use updating. Basic amenities like the kettle and iron required a deposit, which felt inconvenient, and there was a charge to use the in-room safe, which ideally should be included.
Room and Tech Improvements: The technology in rooms is basic, with only the ability to dial reception. It would be great if the phones allowed calls to the spa, restaurant, or other services directly. An info pack on basic amenities like pool heating, kids' activities, and dining options would also be helpful, as the app is quite basic.
Amenities and Activities: The pools were cold unless the temperature was above 24 degrees – with the exception of one that warms up a bit more. The kids' pool, shaded by trees, doesn’t warm up much unless it’s particularly sunny. The indoor pool is nice but only accessible for 2 hours, which felt short for families with children.
The Kids' Club was well done, with a special shoutout to Hasna, who was fantastic with the children. The food in the buffet and poolside bar offered good variety, especially for someone who doesn’t eat a large amount. The Moroccan restaurant, Antares, was a bit underwhelming – the room felt dated, and some dishes were on the dry side.
Other Observations: The gym could benefit from some upgrades, as it’s a bit sandy and could use a deep clean, updated equipment, and better AC. Having greater opening hours would be a plus. The resort’s location in the city is a big advantage, offering easy access to local culture and activities with perfect sea front location too. While exploring the city, it’s best to be aware of some pressure from locals to buy or engage, which can be tiring but is understandable given the economic context.
Overall: Iberostar Founty Beach is one of the better options in Agadir for its balance of family-friendliness, value, and location. If a few things were refreshed, it would be a near-perfect destination.

This was our first time in Morocco and with Iberostar. Everything is completely honest about our time there.
room: The rooms are exactly like the photos and very large. Our room was cleaned every day to a high standard. The room has a mini fridge that is empty on arrival, a water carafe to fill at the water coolers, and a safe if you decide to pay for this. The bathroom contains shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel that are on the wall in the shower. There is hand soap and body lotion by the bathroom sink. I used these for the week as I am not that picky and found them good enough. If you need them refilled, simply take them off the wall and leave on the bathroom counter. They are a squeeze from the sides, not pushdown. There was no air conditioning when we were there last week as it is their winter, but it was still plenty warm in the rooms and you will more than likely need to leave the balcony door open during the late evening/morning to cool the room down.
staff: The staff are all very friendly, helpful, and cannot do more for you if they tried. If you need anything, just ask and they will do their best to comply to your request. Special shout out to Sa'id in the bar, I shall miss his 'sante!' There are plenty of security staff around the complex so felt very safe. They are good at their job as we didn't have bracelets (reception forgot to give us them) so we were approached about this. Quickly rectified.
food: There is plenty to choose from even for the pickiest person. Morning involves many different pastries (i.e. croissants, pain au chocolate etc), cereals (corn flake type, cocoa pops, granola etc), yoghurts, fresh fruit, fresh fruit juice, dried fruit, nuts/seeds, bread/rolls, continental meats and cheeses, egg and omelet station, baked beans, mini continental sausages, bacon, large continental type sausages, toastie making station. There are also a lot of batter type products such as pancakes, crepes etc. Lunch consists of burgers, chips, toasties, tagines, rice/noodle, pizza, various different meat options, salads, meat/cheeses, fish, chicken, and pastas. The snack bar has the burgers, pizzas, chips, salads, and a few other things if you don't want to go up to the main restaurant. In the evening, similar to lunch, but more options. Some dishes are the same for lunch or dinner, and they can be the same most days. However, a lot of dishes change at the same time. So you might find something you really enjoy and it is always there (chickpeas, onions, raisins, yummy!), and some things you really enjoy may change. Regardless, if you are a typical Brit and don't like to try new things you will be fine and if you like to try new things you will always find new things at each meal to do so. Puddings are also plentiful and varied, and I would recommend the handmade Moroccan donuts which appear at breakfast and during snack time at the snack bar. There is also plenty of fresh fruit as well at the pudding station.
The a la carte restaurant is nothing to write home about. You have more choice in the main restaurant. We were expecting different dishes than what you can get in the main restaurant, but this was not the case. If you skip, you're not missing anything and we heard a lot of people the following evening walking out to go to the main restaurant.
Drinks: If you have the Iberostar app, you will find all the drinks and the drinks menu on this. The menu does not tell you the ingredients for non alcoholic drinks so you will need to ask about this if you are interested in one in particular (recommend San Francisco). If you are looking for something in particular that is not on the menu, I am sure the bartender will make that for you so just ask. The non brand measures are very generous. There is self serve draft beer (5.25%), wines, fizzy drinks, and water at the snack bar, and numerous ones within the main restaurant. There are water coolers on each landing to fill your room water carafe or a refillable bottle if you have brought with you.
entertainment: The team are very hard working, and put on numerous shows and the sports. All very friendly, and I saw many of them taking time out to sit and speak to various guests. We did not partake in the evening events, but everyone that was taking part seemed to enjoy these
Areas for growth -as someone that has allergies, the additional signs that others have managed to get the hotel to put up was helpful. However, there is no allergy information on the signs apart from the name of the dish. I managed to eat a few mouthfuls of things due to this issue and luckily I do not suffer anaphylaxis, but anaphylactoid so taking antihistamines was helpful. The only place I saw allergen information was in the Moroccan restaurant. This is an area that the hotel can easily remedy by putting allergen symbols on the signs as this will help keep those with allergies safe. -as someone that has worked in restaurants for a number of years, we were never allowed to wear our aprons etc when going to the loo. I noticed staff going to the loos with their aprons on. This is quite unhygienic, and very easily remedied by enforcing that aprons etc are not worn to the loo. Disposable gloves were still being worn when going to the loo as well. -a smoking and non smoking section would be useful, or having all guests that smoke go down to the grounds rather than on the balcony? As non smokers we were constantly being chocked by smoke from smokers that sat near us when on the large balcony. No issue with people smoking, but it would be useful for those that don't smoke to have a section where smoke is greatly reduced.
General useful information -the back gate closes at 1am so you will need to use the front gate from that point forward -the library is located in an alcove behind the ATM in the reception area ( left of the main entrance if coming in to the hotel) -the petit train appears to come by anywhere between quarter past and half past the hour based on the times I have seen it pass -rooms ending in an odd number face the back of the hotel (on the left side of the building if coming into the hotel at least). -As others have mentioned the doors do not close particularly quietly, so be prepared to possibly be woken up by those coming back to their room late -rooms located at the ends of the halls, near the water coolers that are on the landings can be very noisy due to folks coming back to their room and forgetting this area echoes. Be prepared to be woken up due to other guests not being particularly considerate to those that might be sleeping. During our stay, we did not get one full night sleep due to this and the door mechanisms as our room was right beside the landing. -when you leave you cannot exchange your money back within the hotel, you will need to do this at the airport. You will need to do this landside as soon as you get to the airport as there is no exchange airside. However, some of the businesses will take your MAD. -departure lounge is on the bottom floor on the opposite side of the Moroccan restaurant or just around the corner from the small shops. Plenty of toilets, showers, and a large changing area. There is no shampoo etc or towels so you will need to ask for towels at the reception or use your beach towel before returning, and your own shampoo. -Make sure you have a bracelet when you check in otherwise the security staff will stop you. -A few evenings a week, there is a few stalls one is jewelry which all looked very nice, and the other is argan oil and soaps etc. -There are two outside pools larger one is unheated, the smaller one is heated. -there is a list of excursions that you should receive upon arrival. Totally recommend Crocopark even if you don't have children, the guide we had was amazing. We worked out that the price to go there including tickets was cheaper via the rep than trying to get a taxi and pay for tickets. -We were told that a taxi to the Souk would cost 30MAD, it probably actually costs about 20, but we always ended up paying 25. -plenty of sun loungers still available mid afternoon. There is no need to put towels down, but people kept doing so. -Watch out for seagulls, as we were nearly hit twice with their mess
General impression is that this is a good hotel, plentiful food and drinks, and well worth going to particularly for winter sun.

The 5 star rating is for the hotel not the spa. Staff are all very friendly and helpful, the hotel and grounds are kept spotlessly clean. We had a very large side sea view room which a large balcony and a drying rack for clothes, very welcome. We found the room to be very quiet with no noise from neighbours at all. The exception to this is when they have pool activities with loud music between 2 and 5 pm, and then 10.30-11.00 pm there is music outside reception which can be heard from all balconies I would imagine. We turned off the a/c and had the balcony door open but not until after 11pm due to the noise. Beds are singles but pushed together for king size, and very comfortable. There were 2 chairs and a table in the room plus a sofa, and on the balcony another table and 2 chairs. Th bathroom has an efficient shower, rainfall and handheld both worked well, with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand wash and body cream supplied in refillable containers. There’s a bidet too. The hotel certainly strives to save energy and plastic waste. Security is tight, which is good. The gate to the beach has a guard, and on the beach there is an area for hotel guests with loungers which is patrolled by security too. At the front gate, vehicles are checked and any person without the hotel wristband is challenged. The food is great: there is so much choice in Mercure Restaurant that it’s perfectly possible to have different choices each day. We were entitled to one meal in Antares Restaurant which is called a La carte but actually only has a choice of 2 mains: lamb tagline or chicken couscous. However, it’s a 4 course meal so make sure you go with a fairly empty stomach! The 2 adult pools weren’t over-busy. Aquarobics took place in an area of the cooler pool, but didn’t run unless at least 4 guests turned up. The warmer pool was 1.6 min metres deep, no good for anyone shorter, and not therefore suitable for aquarobics either. Towels are issued by presenting a card which you get from reception but take care that nobody pinches your towel as there’s a £15 charge for lost towels at the end of your stay. Now for the spa: you will be pushed towards the 1200 dirham (£94) treatment. I went for this, thinking that the advertised prices were fixed. In the hammam I was with another lady who asked me what I’d paid, as she had initially refused to book and was then offered the same treatment for 900 dirham, about £30 cheaper. In this treatment there’s quite a lot of time spent just lying in the hammam. At the end, I did as my fellow guest suggested and challenged why I’d been charged more. The man at reception said she had received a different treatment to me, and pointed to the different prices in the price list. Later I saw the same guest again and she said she had been told off by the man from the spa for telling me about her price. I do not appreciate being lied to, as indeed had happened. I spoke to the hotel manager who explained that the spa was under a different management but who apologised and suggested that I wrote this review to warn other would-be customers of the spa. This spoiled what was otherwise a brilliant impression of the hotel.

A rather large resort with plenty of rooms, pools, space and in a good location. There are a few positives, the first has to be the staff, can’t fault a single one as they all seem to have good attitude toward guests and are friendly and always helpful. There is good amount of space generally as it’s a large resort with two adults pools, a children’s pool and plenty of sunbeds. There is always some food on offer, you will never go hungry.
Now for what could be improved. Lets start with food, though there is plenty of choice, it never feels of quality. It seems to cater to the bland crowd and nothing has any flavour, spice or taste. Again this could be subjective, as many may like this blad styled food, but if you are adventurous and expect 4* quality this would be a disappointment.
The selection changes from day to day, but 90% of it stays the same, just moved around to different parts of the room. The fruits are always the same, apples, grapes, oranges and pears, feels very European for Morrocco. The breads don’t taste fresh or like it has that French influence, the tagines don’t taste like Moroccan tagines. Would rather have less choice but more quality and more local produce that’s of better quality.
The worst offender has to be the à la carte restaurant, it’s a set menu with almost exactly the same food as at the buffet just served at your table. The red wine on offer is very low calibre, the alcohol at the bar are all no name brands with questionable quality. You can pay for branded stuff but the brands that you have to pay for are ‘Grants’ & ‘ JW Red Label’, not Glenfiddich 15 or Jura. If Grants is the best quality they have on the paid menu dread to think what is the included quality on offer is. The coffee machines are very inconsistent and do not ever serve good coffee.
The rooms feel dated, and when the weather is not so hot the aircon in the room seems to be switched off. The shower is good but the area around it felt very old and dusty.
Based on the food, drinks and coffee on offer I would struggle to place this hotel / resort as anything above a 2* variant. A tip though would be to be careful of the heated adult pool by the beach bar as it can be rather deep at 175cm.
Agadir is a nice location for the adventures, and I feel bad giving a bad rating for this resort but there are a few areas that it really needs to improve. The quality of the food needs to improve and asking guests to pay 42DH (£3.40) upgrade fee for a serving of Grants or 52DH Black Label isn’t right for a 4* resort. I might pay that for a good single malt but no such thing on offer as an upgrade.

This is an interesting all-inclusive option - convenient location, direct access to the promenade and a guarded hotel beach right next to the hotel. There is also plenty of space around the pool and there has never been a problem with a lack of sun loungers. A very large selection of meals at any time of the day and anywhere. The meals are also well presented and generally tasty. The rooms are not new, but you don't really spend any time in them. so it didn't matter to me. However, they were always clean, filtered water was available without limits in the corridor from a dispenser.
However, some elements contributed to the lower rating and it is worth the hotel taking a closer look at it. On the first day, I asked the hall manager to prepare a table for 11 people for us during subsequent meals and was told that it would be no problem. However, the table was never prepared - even though after some time the waiters recognized us - we had to wait for the tables to be joined or sit separately. Coffee and tea are not available for dinner. You can't order a taxi at the hotel reception - I was told to go out to the street and catch a taxi myself. The cards for 4 rooms were programmed incorrectly and all of them expired the day before departure. In my opinion, the music by the pool is too loud. During evening animations, there is only one bartender at the bar, which causes long queues for drinks. Additionally, I noticed that guests who leave tips are often served without a queue, while others have to wait. During check-in, Yassine informed us that it was possible to extend the rooms until 2 p.m. free of charge, but later Youssef did not want to agree to this and claimed that it was impossible that someone had confirmed the extension of the hotel day. Check-in at 2:00 a.m. took 60 minutes. In my opinion, it should be simplified as much as possible so as not to keep people in front of the reception desk for so long. Additionally, Mehdi, who was responsible for accepting payment for the city fee, was very unpleasant. On my booking confirmation there was information that the city tax was 1.60 Euro per person per night and I had the deducted amount in Euro ready. However, the hotel converts this into the local currency at its unfavorable exchange rate and demands a larger amount in Euro. Mehdi turned out to be the most unpleasant hotel employee who did not want to understand my reasons and said that we had to pay that much because he would not give us the keys.

On arrival at check in its a bit chaotic, staff herd you away from the reception and provide forms and pens to fill in,no welcome,no drink no friendly hello. A bit of a disappointing start after a lot of travelling.
We were eventually checked in and given an upgrade to a side sea view, not sure this was a 'better' room as it was along way from the amenities and the balcony didn't get any sun in the day.
The gardens are well kept but the pool suffers with noise and loud music most of the day,to the point it becomes unbearable. We went for walks and to the beach to avoid it. There are pool rules but they are not enforced and so many guests reserve sun beds from early morning and staff turn a sly blind eye because they receive a tip!....
The room was clean, large and well furnished with lots of storage. The bathroom with large walk in shower was spacious. The towels were old and thin. The beds ,two twins pushed together were firm and the pillows like sand bags had seen better days. There was a fridge but it was empty and therefore pointless. Housekeeping are late to service rooms, one day at 2.30 our room still hadn't been cleaned even after 5 hours of being out. So no fresh towels or bed and a long trek to reception because nobody answers the phone at reception!
The restaurant is canteen style, self serve with many dishes without labels, which doesn't support anyone with allergies. The choice of dishes was large, but many supposedly hot dishes were just warm. The quality of the meat wasn't good,it was chewy from the live cooking stations.
The cooks at the live cooking stations were surly and refused to cook a poached egg at 7.30 am when they were standing around and it was quiet. All three were asked again by reception and all refused. Eventually the head chef appeared and offered to cook some....
The worst is still to come, because they had added cola to the red wine bottle and poured this when asked for a glass of red wine!! Disgusting practice, and downright outrageous.
It was brought to the attention of the hotel manager who asked all levels of staff in the restaurant including the restaurant manager and all told the same story acknowledging it was mixed and that the 'guest wanted it'.................!
Shockingly bad practice and based on this alone we will not return to this hotel. Staff are unprofessional with a very poor attitude towards guests. They acknowledged their error and put a bottle of sparkling wine in our room, which if we wanted could have had from the bar because it was included. This no way compensated us for a spoiled meal experience and potential health issue. We left it unopened, never to return.
The score is based on the overall environment, location and room comfort,if it was based on food it would be zero.

We returned from week stay April/May 24. Transfer from Airport to hotel half hour was good but avoid Porter at Airport who asks if you are Easy Jet then takes your bags and demands payment. Check in process was good but no explanation with WI-FI and asked for me to email holiday voucher bizarre, meal times, towel cards , departure information if you can locate the room nor any assistance with baggage to your room. No kettles are provided other than communal water machines and there is a hefty charge to use the safe. Room was very clean and very comfortable beds two separate but pushed together and lovely bathroom with great shower with daily cleans if required. Found the hotel too busy with large groups of golfers and parties that took all outdoor seating area up and large number of small children unsupervised in dining area made it very noisy. Food is mediocre, plenty of choice but repetitive and my partner had a couple of bad stomach’s , meat was heaped up on the hot plate not cooked and red inside, very fatty and food was mostly luke warm time you came to eat it. My partner tasted cross contamination eating fruit where the same knife had been used cutting onions. Plenty of sun beds and parasols and lifeguards on duty but more entertainment could have been provided for kids but the pools were too deep. One pool was cooler the other was warm but it needed some deep cleaning. Gym was small but adequate but needed air con. Great location for walks by the beach to the harbour where you can find lovely restaurants along the way where the food was tasty warm and great value and there was plenty of visible security. In summary this is a good Iberostar hotel in great location and staff are very friendly but we found it was just too busy and food in particular needs some improvement . Unfortunately we will not be returning.

Main gripes… after check-in which took quite a long time due to multiple forms to fill in, we went to the buffet for lunch where we were immediately asked to fill in a survey about our stay. Not sure why you’d interrupt a guest’s meal to do this. This happened again another night during dinner.
The food quality was usually quite low and some had gone cold. There was quite a lot of choice but they seem to be going for quantity over quality, and each mealtime became very repetitive very quickly as lunch and dinner are virtually the same. Labelling hardly ever corresponds to the actual food presented so anyone with allergies or who is picky be warned, it is a minefield and you should book elsewhere.
You have to serve your own coffee (awful taste) and soft drinks (watered down), and they don’t clear dirty plates very quickly so you can end up with stacks of dirty dishes. Limited cutlery on tables too. Some of the waiting staff were pleasant enough, but they seem to be understaffed for the sheer volume of people during mealtimes.
The pools are cold and sun loungers packed together like sardines, with not enough umbrellas around. People start reserving loungers with towels from 7 o’clock in the morning. This was the single most frustrating aspect as some of the best spots right in front of the pools had towels on them from 7 or 8 o’clock and the people sometimes didnt actually use them until late afternoon. Why does the hotel allow this practice?
The wifi in our room was virtually nonexistent in about 75% of the room area, other than one corner. Certainly zero wifi in the bedroom and balcony.
We had a suite but the “bed” in the second room wasn’t even a proper bed. The sheets did not cover the mattress and we had to request pillows. The mattresses are very hard and after several days you will have a bad back and wish you were home in your own bed.
If you book a room on the ocean side (sea view or pool view) be aware the entertainment goes on very late and was very loud, so I recommend bringing earplugs if you or your kids want to go to sleep before 11pm. Overall, a pretty poor experience and we have stayed at all-inclusives before, but this was bottom of the pile.

Have just returned from a 10 day trip to this wonderful hotel. We arrived late after our plane had to return to UK with technical issues and they were waiting with a hot meal and a smile. Check was relatively simple, you are required to complete a paper form and then pay the tourist tax. Everything was explained about the hotel in depth by a member of the reception team and then we were shown to our room. We had a family room with sliding doors to a seperate seating arrangement and balcony. Also had an outdoor seating area but we never used it We were in block 3 so the other side to the hotel that is being renovated next door and to be honest we never heard any noise from the works, if you are in block 1 you may hear more but as most things go on in the middle of the hotel it's not disruptive at all. The sun came over block 1 in the morning approx 10am and covered the beds till roughly 5pm. No issues with sunbeds at all and the heated pool was lovely. Sunbeds on the beach are good too and although there are people selling on the promenade a simple no thanks and they leave you alone. There are several cooking stations in the restaurant as well as many other options and I really do think if you can't find something to like you must be really picky. Best idea is to choose a theme and go for that so,we had a roast dinner one night a pasta another etc. Water stations are dotted about all around the resort and I normally have a funny tummy but everything was fine and I filled my bottle 2-3 times a day at different stations. Walking along the primenade felt safe and secure. We ate at the morrocan themed restaurant and enjoyed but please go in with an open mind and check the menu beforehand, you have several courses and it is traditional. Enjoyed the entertainment and was impressed by how hard they all work. Special, shout out to Ben who really interacted with everyone. The bar staff work really hard and all have a smile, favourite by far was Zyad who looked after us so well. Check out the lesson on how argon oil is made and how to make traditional moroccan tea. Even the lifeguards work hard cleaning the sunbeds daily. Resort was clean and staff were constantly cleaning every area. Outdoor eating area is well stocked and changes daily, especially loved the hot donoughts at 4. Did the trip to the cable car and souk and found it really enjoyable. Go down to the beach and watch the sunset its an amazing time. We loved it so much we have already booked for next year

The hotel was fantastic, it was clean throughout and had some beautiful features. There was plenty to do and all the staff were fantastic and friendly. There was never a fight for sunbeds with plenty to go around. The beach area was beautiful especially at sunset. There is an area for hotel guests only. The room was a brilliant size with a really good size balcony, there was plenty of plugs but also USB ports in the rooms. There is also water facilities to get filtered water in most hallways! Food- There is an extensive menu being vegetarian your never sure what to expect but everything was clearly labeled and they even had a dedicated vegetarian section which was a first for me! They did also have a gluten free section. There was a variety of food on offer from pastas and sushi to traditional morrocan food. We enjoyed dinner at the a la carte on my birthday where they again were fantastic serving a traditional meal which was lovely and even sining happy birthday with a cake which make the day even more special! Also the WiFi is fantastic and reached even as far as the beach! The local area is beautiful and worth exploring.
