Stayed on a Friday night. Very, very quiet. Executive king accommodation. Would have given 5 stars but two negatives. Coffee maker did not work. Desk chair vertical adjustment stuck at lowest level. Comfy bed. Two nice stuffed chairs for reading. Good lighting. Nice shower. Good computer and internet offering

Rooms were clean, parking was plentiful, but the place needs updating. The beds were comfortable and we appreciated the plentiful towels. Breakfast buffet was very pedestrian, what you would expect from a Hampton Inn. Apparently there was a pool, but it was under construction.I am sure during football season the place is packed, the location would be ideal.

The place was supposed to be the best place in Ames. I don't doubt it, but there was really nothing to compare it with. The layout was a bit confusing, and the rooms were spacious, clean and generic. It was OK, but nothing special or fancy. I guess I was paying for convenience to the campus, but it didn't seem...

My parents used to stay here when they visited me, and it's still a very nice place st stay. Rooms are nice, bed is comfy, and the best hotel towels I've seen in years. Pool area is very meet and well tended. The decor in the Libby might be eating dated but rooms felt fresh and lovely.

Our first room had a major leak in the ceiling. We were moved to another room after that. The staff were friendly. The hotel does appear to need some updates. There is a pool fitness room and sauna. The pool is nice the fitness room has lots of opportunities. The hot tub was nice. We did not dine here.

Ames does not have a lot of great, or even what could be considered good, hotels. Typically I would try and stay at the Hilton Garden Inn or if that was filled, the Hampton Inn. It had been years since I had stayed at the Gateway. Had a chance to stay in August and September and was very impressed. Great...

First the pros. The staff was friendly. The hotel is located just off of Hwy 30, very easy to find. Plenty of parking. Nice walking / running trails nearby. The restaurant on site is very good! A little spendy, but very high quality food and drinks. Now the cons. The pool is FRIGID! Worst I've ever experienced for an indoor...

It is dated but the choice in Ames is a bit limited so I would say this is probably your best bet. The staff are very helpful and the rooms clean. the desk is big enough to work and the WiFi reliable.

First time visit to Ames for a weekend wedding. Prompt and friendly check-in, very clean and comfortable room, and food at restaurant was very good. It is very close to the ISU campus and I would highly recommend it for a football/basketball game stay. If I ever return to Ames I would stay again.

Pros: Pleasant and clean rooms. Good conference facilities and a full bar & restaurant. Nice room TV's. Cons: Aged frayed towels, certain outdated wallpaper and hotel design. No outlet where they place the coffee pots. Suggestions: Throw away old worn out towels. Move the coffee pot to the bathroom or desk near an outlet. Don't make the guest have to...
