Located very near "campus town" this former fraternity house has been refurbished into a lovely bed and breakfast. Rooms are spacious and well furnished. There is a little bit of awkwardness in the plumbing layout, but that is to be expected with such a significant remodel. The Ames House is perfect for people coming back to visit their alma mater!

My husband and I came to visit our son who is a student at Iowa State. Iowa House is very close to campus. It was convenient, nice and clean, and the breakfast was excellent. The room was spacious, the atmosphere was welcoming. It was nice to chat with fellow visitors at breakfast. Will definitely come back!

My son and I were in Ames overnight for orientation at ISU. Booked the Iowa House for proximity to campus and because we like to stay in "local" hotels versus chains, when possible. The Iowa House was great. Very welcoming and homey. We arrived later in the evening due to the day's orientation schedule and when we walked in, our... More

I really enjoyed staying at Iowa House. You absolutely feel like your a guest in someones home. It's tucked in a quiet neighborhood minutes from the main ISU campus. The breakfast was awesome and pleasantly served by the chef. The rooms are very well kept and clean. I will definitely stay there on my next trip!

Shower doesn't work in room 303. Its sad after a long hot day, to return to the room and have no shower, just a bath. Good breakfast, should open early than 7:00 am but its very close to the university, 5 min walk. Nice quite place to stay, the room are pretty cool with the bed on the second floor.

Disclaimer, I didn't stay there but spent 4 nights at the Econo Lodge. However, I was intrigued enough on the Iowa House from the various booking sites, to make a point to drop by and check it out for the next trip. I asked at the front desk and was told that I can tour the entire building on my... More

I really enjoyed staying at the Iowa House during my 2-day meeting at Iowa State University. I felt as if I was staying in someone's very well-kept home, with antique furniture and beautiful quilts on the beds. I was close enough to walk to my meetings at the Scheman Building, but tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. The bed was... More

Our first stay was due to a very homesick freshman at Iowa State. We ventured out to soothe the fears and chose to stay in a cozy location. The homey feel helped her turn the corner and she will graduate in a few weeks. This past weekend we stayed again for an event for her graduation. Here is what I... More

Great place to stay. It is a beautiful old fraternity house on the Ames Campus so it is close to any activities taking place there. Rates are reasonable. Bed very comfortable. Good breakfast in the AM. Very accommodating.
