Detailed Reviews
Our family stayed on this beautiful property for 5 nights. The adults had one room that looked out directly at the waterfall. Our kids had the other which also had waterfall views. There was a third room, separated from the main building and there was a lovely couple staying there.
Olvin makes delicious meals, consulting us for the most part, about what we wanted to eat. Olvin also went above and beyond in other ways to make our kids feel welcome and special. The other staff at the lodge was very helpful, keeping us in fresh towels and even doing our laundry.
If you take pictures of foods you would like them to buy, Don Merlo will go into town and buy them for you. Our kids appreciated Oreos and Marischino cherries!
It was lovely to go to sleep each night with the roaring sound of the waterfall. There is no AC, so we also had the sound of the fans. But with the fans, the temperature was ok. The rooms were beautiful and the shower the best we used in Honduras.
We did the mountain bike tour and waterfall tour with the lodge which were both great. Our kids especially loved the waterfall descents and I highly recommend this. Olvin made us feel very safe.
If you are looking for a relaxing retreat to the jungle, this is a great place to go.

An incredible weekend, the lodge was beautiful located right next to a waterfall. Views were breathtaking. Olvin the resident chef cooked us incredible meals and went out of his to way to make sure we had everything we wanted. He speaks good english and was so informative. We sampled local dishes which were delicious. Some of the best food we have ever tasted. We did the relaxation package which was fab. Ziplining was an incredible experience followed by hot springs which was beautiful. We had spa treatments plus a sauna in the jungle on 2nd day. Dom Merlo picked us up from the airport and drove us to our activities. Its a well run lodge and so peaceful, we saw monkeys in the trees by lodge plus numerous birds, butterflies. It was just a gorgeous oasis in the middle of the rainforest.
The open bar was a great addition, we helped ourselves and its well stocked with all spirits, beers and wine.
The hike up to the the top of jungle was so lovely.
The lodge had an outside shower we could see the wildlife whilst showering just incredible.
Really is worth a visit we will definitely go back and sample some other actvities/sites.
Just a jaw dropping weekend and really exceeded all expectations.

From the moment my husband and I started planning our Honduras vacation we knew we had to stay at Las Cascadas! Ryan. We spoke almost daily and at the end of our stay he wanted to make super we were pleased. Attention to detail in every aspect! He was super informative and so very pleasant to communicate with. We were pleasantly greeted at the airport by Don Merlo who gracious allowed us to stop by a grocery store to pick up some essentials. We were greeted at the hotel by Olvin who immediacy became our “go to” guy. He was our chef, our guide, weekend housekeeper! He was outstanding! He and Don Merlo were super catering to our needs and introducing us to new things and activities daily!
The room was so nice and clean! The outdoor shower and huge tub were so refreshing and the view from the room was spectacular viewing nature and the beautiful waterfall. We will return someday to repeat this super experience!

Amazing place to stay on the weekend and the best thing: is that all is included. Go and do rapeling in waterfall descent to 81 feet, what a great experience with the best team very well trained, they give you the confidence to experiment without problems, the guide Olvin takes excellent photos and the equipment they use gives you the peace of mind you need , rooms really great and big and finally drink some Guifiti that would made you relax your body. The most important thing is that they are vaccinated and comply with the biosafety team.
Enjoy your stay!!

My husband and I, with our three teenagers, stayed for four nights in June 2022. This was a Covid trip that was postponed. Ryan communicated with me for TWO years (we were waiting for restrictions to be dropped) and never once was impatient or unavailable. He did an absolutely fantastic job with all of my questions.
The lodge itself is phenomenal. We've been traveling for 30+ years and we never stay at the same place twice (I like to go to different places). This is the only place I would go again, and if I could, I would be there tomorrow. Olvin, the chef and property manager, cooked wonderful meals and managed our tours beautifully. My husband really like talking to him and I think they spent hours talking together over the course of the stay. Olvin was always right there if we needed anything. When he found out I liked passion fruit juice, he made three pitchers (hand-squeezed!) for me.
The staff is wonderful as well. Don Merlo, the transportation guy, made a point to teach my girls spanish (they are learning in school but speaking to a native speaker is really great to experience). He was always patient and kind.
When I asked about a Catholic Mass for Sunday, the lodge arranged it and Don Merlo took me there without a further fee! What service!
The grounds are gorgeous, and I could spend hours watching all of the hummingbirds at the various feeders. The pool and hot tub were really enjoyable, as well as the waterfalls. I thought the waterfall that is about a 25 minute hike on the property was prettier than the one in the national park. The property is very secure with its own security presence on site. Kids loved the tire swing, and although we didn't get to do the river swing, the pictures looked fun. We also did the mountain biking, hiking in the national forest and on the property, and white water rafting. The teens like jumping from the huge boulders into the river.
All in all, it was a great experience and I can't recommend it enough. It was easy to get to from Roatan and a nice beach break.

We had the luxury of being the only ones at the resort which was extra special as it was my birthday and we just got engaged. The quiet and peaceful location was unbeatable. The surround sound of the waterfalls and rivers was so lovely, the hummingbirds and lush jungle greenery was beyond beautiful, and although we only stayed for a long weekend it was a peaceful and much needed respite. We chose an all inclusive package which meant we didn't have to worry about activities, food, drinks, it was all sorted for us, and the bar never closed! We stayed in the River House which felt like we had our own home away from home being that it is set back from the main lodge. The service was amazing, Olvin was a great chef and looked after us just the right amount. He was very friendly and his English was great, and communication was always clear. We felt safe with the security guards keeping watch and communication with the manager, although he was not on site, was fast, easy and clear. We LOVED our stay and will be back.

I travelled with 5 friends and we had a perfect stay at Las Cascadas! I was immediately in awe from my first step out of the taxi. The grounds are stunning with beautiful tropical flora, surrounded by mountainous rainforest and you can hear the calming sound of the 2 closest waterfalls of the 5 on the property as you sit by the pool or relax in the lovely hot tub or relax in your room or while you dine in the main lodge. My room was perfect with gorgeous views of the grounds and that beautiful waterfall, had a big tub and huge outdoor shower, the bed was comfortable and the wifi was great. The meals were absolutely delicious and I always felt that each one of our group was being personally catered to with various dietary restrictions. The variety of the food was great and we got to try different authentic Honduran cuisine. All of the staff were so friendly and very attentive to all of our needs. We were able to explore the spectacular grounds with various hikes to the upper waterfalls, the waterfalls with the nearby sauna and the birders paradise hike to the orange grove. The staff also assisted us to arrange an abundance of nearby activities such as white water rafting, a guided hike in the national park, a day snorkelling, a very private hot springs adventure and a day at the Cuero y Salado Wildlife Refuge. This was the perfect vacation and I can’t thank the amazing staff at Las Cascadas enough for my beautiful experience in the Honduran rain forest.

Wow, what a trip! Las Cascadas Lodge is much more than a hotel. It is an experience - a rare combination of spectacular natural beauty and luxury; adventure and comfort. I visited for 10 days with a group of 6 friends. The Lodge is small enough that we had the whole place to ourselves. Our own private rainforest with rooms overlooking a waterfall, a pool and hottub, a network of trails through the jungle, and gourmet meals made by our own chef (and house "mother"), Olvin. The staff organized everything for us - our transportation to and from the airport and all our excursions. I felt pampered and very safe.
And the birds! I knew that Pico Bonito National Park was a birding hotspot (and I did some birding there), but I discovered that some of the best birding was onsite. There is a 30 minute loop trail starting in the front garden that leads to a beautiful lookout over the river valley. I sat there for hours in the mornings, watching a parade of exotic birds travel through. A highlight was the 3 Lovely Cotingas that posed for me. Birders can see my checklists on eBird. The Lodge also connected me with a local birding guide, Kelvin, who was a valuable companion, teaching me about the local birds and, of course, spotting way more than I could find on my own.
Just one example of the personal attention we received... One bird that eluded me for most of my stay was a Lesson's Motmot. When Olvin learned I had not yet seen one, he was determined to remedy this. On my last morning, he volunteered to come in early and take me to an area they are known to nest. Sure enough, he used his birding magic to call one out, giving me a great view. A storybook ending to magical week. PS I miss you Olvin!!

A place like no other. Sleep under a thatched roof with only a wall of screens separating you from nature and a waterfall just outside your room. Amazing hiking, snorkeling, birdwatching and swimming in a luxurious setting with all meals included by chef Olvin (who is also a guide extraordinaire).

We booked Las Cascadas for 4 nights following time in Roatan. Communication with the lodge was excellent from booking through airport delivery. The lodge is exceptionally clean and beautiful. Great care and thought out into preparation of the room, food and activities. Olvin was the heart of our experience. All meals were top notch. We did river rafting, hot springs, water falls and a trip to the local village. We tested our comfort zone deciding to family vacation in Honduras and so happy we did!
