I had been on the property prior to our 3 night stay at Villas Pico Bonito, but I did not realize how much we would enjoy staying there until we did! The location is perfect, the grounds are beautiful and well-cared for, and the staff is great. My husband and I stayed in the Bejuco Lodge and it was perfect. We had a full-on view of the waterfall, for which the accommodation is named, from the large deck on the river side of our lodge. Our bed was super comfortable, the bathroom was large and the kitchen was well-stocked. We prepared most of our own food, but we did eat in the restaurant one evening...the ambiance was lovely and the food was good. The infinite pool is not heated, but was not too cold. In fact, once I got in, it was incredibly refreshing! So, bottom line, I wish we had stayed here before (our daughter and family live in La Ceiba, so we come to the area somewhat regularly), we will stay here again, and we will stay for more than 3 nights next time!

This is a wonderful place. After visiting a few Central American countries each year, THIS is the place we now just go back to. Villas are clean, spacious, and beautiful. They overlook a river that is clear and warm, you can walk along the river just a bit and find your own private swim area. The restaurant has very good food, really nice outdoor pool, and the whole place is only a 20 minute drive to La Ceiba for supplies. There is another restaurant up the road too. There is nearby hiking to the waterfall, 10 minutes south of town there is a lovely hot springs place to spend hours in. There are many more little surprises that make each day enjoyable. We stay there a week, and the ONLY thing this place is missing is more tourists! There are certainly many accomodations for more people--for groups, couples, families, and solo travelers. The last couple miles to the place are gravel road--any car will make it just fine, but I would recommend renting more of a utility vehicle AWD, just to be more comfortable.

It was a long way up a bumpy dirt road but worth the drive. There was only on other couple so it was very peaceful. The villa was nice and clean - not glitzy. It was easy to relax in. The grounds are amazing. Many cobbled paths meandering the property taking you to see something new - the parrot, turtles, views of the waterfall, the river, infinity pool... Very nice staff.

I stayed here with my husband over the new year. It is a magical place, with tons of paths to explore around the property. We stayed in El Bejuco and woke up every morning to a beautiful view of the falls and Rio Cangrejal. We spent time swimming in the river, reading in hammocks, drinking beers at the restaurant and chatting with other guests. We also went on a tubing tour which was incredibly fun. It also included a short hike to a smaller waterfall with a swimming hole. Richard and his staff are incredible hosts and I highly recommend spending a few relaxing days here!

I have lived in Honduras for 2.5 years, and this was my 3rd visit to the Rio Cangrejal area. After a bad 2nd experience staying at a place in the area, I picked a random new place to stay the night before I left on the ferry to Utíla. I was pleasantly surprised at the view, the service, and the facilities. I will definitely be returning, and bringing more people next time!
