Just returned from Utila Lodge and I want to go back! I had the best trip there and the most amazing diving. The room was nice and we had some days with a lovely breeze so we opened the door to our private balcony and...More
3 of us divers went with our non-diving wives. We weren't sure if they would have enough to do while we were diving but we were wrong. They went horseback riding, did the deprivation tank experience, went to the Jade House and just walked taking...More
The lodge is well situated in the middle of town which affords one the ability to try local foods and shop for forgotten items or souvenirs.

I stayed here for a week and had the best time. I did my open water referral with the associated dive school (Bay Islands College of Diving) and my instructor, Kelsey, was awesome, fun and encouraging!

Hey John, the instructors here are great! This would be a perfect option for a refresher and the dive sites here are varied so there's always opportunity to practice improving your buoyancy etc. I'd recommend taking the advanced open water course if you're looking to dramatically improve your diving and get the most for your money.

Sorry to take so long to answer your question! Utila Lodge is a scuba diving "resort". Probably wouldn't recommend for kids or grandkids who don't dive. I, myself don't dive, but my husband does - I like to sunbathe - no pool or beach at this location, so was hard to do that. The nice thing though about the island of Utila is that you can walk around the whole island - it isn't very large. The lodge itself is kept clean, meals are buffet style and food is good!
