We didn't stay but we were treated like guests. Amazing property and definitely worth the drive for anybody visiting the island.$5 for a day pass and worth every cent. Manager greeted us in the parking lot and gave us a tour. Brought a bucket of beer to the secluded beach, hiked some of the trails... amazing views. Snorkeling is great on the point to the left of the beach. Didn't want to leave
Having toured the Caribbean for the better part of three and a half decades, you think you’ve come across and seen just about everything, but occasionally you stumble across a beautiful hidden gem and that gems name is Paya Bay. When we were picked up to be brought to Paya Bay the initial impression was kindness and excitement from our host / driver Juan. As we made our way to Paya Bay we learned a lot about the island the area and the property. Pulling up to the property you know you’re in for a treat, the lush surroundings open up to 180 degree panoramic views of the ocean, no words can actually describe the paradise that awaits you at Paya Bay. The cliff side views, the trails, the food, the service, it’s all truly is a slice of heaven on earth. I could not recommend this oasis of a resort more to someone looking to escape from it all and be transported to a place like no other. Be prepared to never want to leave, we didn’t.…
We have been coming to Paya Bay for about 10 years now. It seems to get better with every visit. We spent last week there with some friends from Utah and were so glad to have company. I think our friends , experienced travelers, really had a great time. We also met several other fun couples from all over the US and Canada and we enjoyed game night almost every night .I don't believe anyone had anything but a fantastic time. Certainly no complaints from us. Everything was wonderful!!The food is always world class, the staff is always the best ever, and the place is truly the garden of Eden. We have already made plans to return.
Our 4th visit to Paya Bay over a ten year period. The staff is essentially the same and they contribute to the overall feeling of well being at Paya Bay. This is a place to be comfortable and welcomed. This is the place to relax, enjoy the sun and water, have a cocktail and watch the sunset. The property and views are stunning. The food is like having home cooked meals and the staff will accommodate your tastes, if supply is available. This is a family run operation and their clients are treated more like house guests. We were very pleased they were able to endure two years of COVID reductions in travel and know that the quality of their personnel contributed to this success. We will continue to enjoy Paya Bay.
The natural beauty of the location is great. The drive up is a little long due to the road being poor. The biggest beach on the property was very dirty. The resort is advertised as 23 acres and the place was empty, so it is probably hard to maintain it adequately. The food was average at best. If you just want to escape the civilization for a few days and lower your blood pressure. This is the place.
We went and spent day at this resort. Really enjoyed it. Went on a guided hike. What a workout....but really enjoyed it. They even gave us a great snack after the hike. Very tasty! Spent rest of day at beach...beautiful grounds and beach. Didn't stay here but loved the grounds and area. Restaurant was very good.
I hesitate to write this because some part of me wants to keep Paya Bay just for me. But then I think, maybe the world would be a better place if more people visited this sanctuary. There isn’t a spot at the resort that isn’t filled with peace. This is a place for your soul to find serenity, your brain to find peace, and your heart to find beauty. There is one big con, you cannot live here, after your time, you must go. Your heart and soul will weep but you will carry a gratitude for being lucky enough to experience Paya Bay and the McNab family.
We felt like we were explorers that had just discovered a tropical Paradise! Just returned from 7 nights and we could have stayed longer! At the end of Roatan this resort was everything we hoped and more. Small, boutique, private, fabulous food, a boat and driver pretty much twice a day and the most beautiful tropical location. We love all the trails that lead to isolated beaches and lounging areas! Loved our over the cliff waterfront bungalow and the sounds of the ocean. The staff were amazing and the food was so good and plentiful. It was just us and one other couple due to Covid which made it super private. If you get a chance.....just go!
What a wonderful experience. Great staff, great food, great beaches, great trails! There's nothing they will not do for you and if they can't it is not without trying. Just can't say enough. We had planned to do some exploring of the island, but just could not pull ourselves away from the relaxation Paya Bay offers. If you need a break from everything or even if you don't, you NEED to go to Paya Bay. Don't be afraid to go because of COVID, that process was amazing too!
This is a great place, and the menu was nice and the food good. The secluded discrete beach was very sexy. A great value. Try the onion rings they were especially good. The ceviche was fresh snd excellent.
