My two daugthers and I stayed for 2 nights at beautiful Casa Renaissance, a clean, quiet, comfortable, spacious and affordable guest house, the best I have come across in my traveling experience. Besides a very large room and comfortable beds, we particularly enjoyed being able to cook some meals that we could then eat in the pretty courtyard - a... More

We arrived late in Xela and Marieke made sure everything was allright. Also after our Tajumulco trip everything was arranged. She also helped us with our further travel plans so we could enjoy Guate for the best. Price/quality ratio=amazing! Marieke is a very open and helpful person. You can ask her anything and she is willing to help. Thanks again!!

This was the best guesthouse I stayed in in my entire time. The little garden is an awesome place to relax, the rooms are spacious and have a nice decor and it is always very clean! it can make you feel home easily, beacause of the big and comfy livingroom where you can hangout. Marieke, the owner is super nice... More

A friend and I spent two nights at Casa Renaissance in August 2015. It was a last minute trip and we didn't book anything ahead. We showed up in the evening and we're greeted by the owner. She is friendly and helpful. We decided to get our own separate rooms since it was so affordable. The rooms are huge and... More

I found Marieke very accommodating. I am on a moto and she allowed me to park in the entrance. She helped me locate everything I was looking for. Would have stayed longer, but wanted to learn more spanish and stay with a host family for full immersion into the language.

We stayed 3 nights in this hostel. The rooms are big and clean. The showers have actual warm water, not the electrical shower heads. The hostel is located just south of the central park. The host was nice, helping out with tours and giving information about other places to visit. All in all, we recommend staying here.

This accommodation has everything you could need and with a friendly and attentive host. I initially was going to stay just one day but stayed a week. I woukd stay longer if i didnt have to get moving. Location excellent, good facilities, option to book tours in you want as well. This deserves such a high ranking.

Marieka was a welcoming and understanding host. We couldn't withdraw more money from the ATM that day and planned to leave very early the next day for hiking. The rooms are big, very clean, nicely decorated and comfy beds. The bathrooms are very clean. Nice internal courtyard to chill out in and a well equipped kitchen for cooking. Thanks for... More

We stayed 4 nights at Casa Renaissance, and the hostel is very nice, but the women owner is not. She was not any help to us at all: She would only help with tours through the very expensive travel agency that she "worked" with and she pretty much threw us out the last day because she had rented our room... If you're staying in Xela for any reason then this should be your number 1 choice! It is incredibly well priced especially if you're staying 1 week or lomger as you get a percentage discount. The rooms are amazing! Huge, high ceilings with comfortable double beds. A TV and large wardrobe can also be found in the rooms. The spacious... More
