Casa de la Iguana is a fabulously famous party hostel for fun and friendly happy travellers. It is set in a jungle garden with awesome wooden cabins and dormitories all unique and worth the extra Q for a good nights sleep. We may not be the cheapest in Livingston but we pride ourselves on having handmade lockers in each dorm, comfortable beds, spacious private rooms, superb wifi for Skyping and calls home, great social staff and fantastic fun most evenings, especially when a lively Happy Hour involved. There is fantastic free wifi. the best in Livingston actually, as well as an international book exchange. We also arrange tours to Belize, La Ceiba, Siete Altares, Playa Blanca and Rio Dulce and recently added, our own very exciting Tiger Cave trip and Fishing (eat what you catch). Spanish Lessons available too. We have a great reputation for our parties but it happens when we have a great bunch of people too! Come see us soon, meet other like-minded free spirits.

Casa de la Iguana has just changed ownership and is now striving for a more chill vibe. When I was there the owners were doing renovations and they were very friendly and laid back! Apparently the former owner doesn’t want them to get clients as he has a newly open hostel that is now competition (but still access to the fb and website) so he has listed the hostel as closed online. It’s open though!

The staff were amazing, as was the manager, Chris. They were super friendly and willing to help us with anything we needed, plus they were always up for a party!!!!! The name is no joke either - we saw some huge iguanas during our stay!

The hostel is very very basic. There are only cold showers and the dorm does not have even a proper fan, even though temperatures are high at night! Staff is not really friendly, only limiting the information to the very necessary. This is supposed to be a party hostel but we have not seen any of this. At 10pm everything was dead, but the noise due to guests returning from somewhere else at 3 am was quite strong. Our recommendation: consider another hostel in Livingston.

Not sure what it is about Casa de la Iguana, but I loved it there. The pool is a big plus given how hot Livingston can get. It's sort of like your favorite t shirt, comfy, friendly and chill, but they did have a good time at night, so its a great place to meet other travelers.

I stayed here for a weekend back in Oct and highly recommend if you’re after a social/party hostel. The hostel itself isn’t the nicest but this is made up for by the manager & volunteers - they were very welcoming and always encouraged a drink/party with beer pong etc. I met a bunch of great people and had an awesome weekend.
