"There are not enough stars to give this hotel! I am a tour operator that was in Guatemala with a group of 16 when the country’s borders closed, all flights were canceled and bus travel was not allowed. We were at Hotel Atitlan when this happened and ended up staying there for an extra 10 nights. This beautiful hotel graciously kept the property open just for the 17 of us. They graciously served their delicious meals and took great care of us! The staff became like family to our group. They even baked two special birthday cakes for our group. We were sequestered at the hotel from anyone that might have the virus so it was the best situation I think we could have been in. The group, while stranded, was happy and felt safe in a stunning environment. They could walk the gardens, swim in the pool and relax. I will never be able to thank the owners of Hotel Atitlan and their staff enough for their generosity and kindness. If you ever go to Guatemala, you must stay there! It is remarkably beautiful. Imagine an enchanted azure lake surrounded by three towering volcanoes and many traditional Mayan villages; the soundtrack of scarlet-colored macaws as one wandered lush gardens filled with orchids, bougainvillea and other aromatic exotic flora. That's the spectacular and serene beauty of Hotel Atitlan in Guatemala."…
Ideally located on the lake this is a very pleasant hotel. It does most things really well. The room was large, two double beds, good sized bathroom and patio out to the amazing gardens with a view over that fantastic lake with the volcanoes in the distance. Breakfast had the best selection of the whole holiday with pastries, fresh cooked omelette and other eggs. Everyone was very pleasant but I guess it just lacks a bit of character, that shouldn’t put you off and I would strongly recommend getting a tuc tuc into town for dinner and lunch where the is a great selection of restaurants.
What a wonderful stay we had at Hotel Atitlan! The rooms and food were wonderful, but the gardens were fabulous! So relaxing to walk around and e experience the sights, sounds and smells of these magnificent gardens!
We stayed three nights at the Hotel Atitlan and I rank it as one of my all-time favorites. Not only was the room lovely with a view of the garden in our case, but the gardens themselves are as spectacular at the view of the lake, which is visible everywhere. We loved the restaurant and experienced outstanding service everywhere on site. A great value, too, for such comfort and luxury. Highly recommend! P.S. Groups can be a bit overwhelming at times! We chose to order breakfast off the menu, rather than do the buffet, and it was delicious.
We were there with a tour group. Breathtaking view! Well kept gardens EVERYWHERE on the grounds! Friendly and helpful staff. Buffet....WOW! You won't go hungry and a nice variety to choose from. Nice and relaxing pool/hot tub. We had a corner room, so we had GREAT views of the grounds, lake, volcano!!! Could have stayed longer! Our group took a boat cruise around the lake, too. Amazing!!!
