Most travellers chose Holiday Inn because it's a known and dependable brand, I would guess. But the staff at the Holiday Inn in Guatemala City go well beyond dependable and take customer service into the realm of exceptional. They were helpful at every stage of our recent four-night visit. Before we arrived, they were very responsive to emails and in giving suggestions for a private tour guide, who proved invaluable in helping us navigate the city's sights and culture. On check-in, they were flexible about room requests. And on check-out, they were able to provide a late departure, which was greatly appreciated. Reception staff helped to organise taxis, translated with drivers on our behalf, and were unfailingly pleasant and professional. Waiting staff in the hotel restaurant were warm and welcoming and also as helpful as they could be. Staff on the buffet breakfast were really very lovely, pleasant and keen to be of assistance. And the tostada with guacamole made for an interesting local start to the day! The rooms on the executive floor were well appointed, the beds were clean and very comfortable, the TV had BBC and CNN. I find rooms where the windows don't open to be difficult, and I am not a fan of hotel air conditioning, but was glad for the higher floor and solid windows because, on the streets and outdoors, Guatemala City always seems to be alive with music and traffic and horns and vibrancy. If I had any criticism, it would be that the outdoor pool is far too hot, more like a hot tub than a swimming pool. And it would be nice to have more seating in the lobby area, which was always busy with people. This hotel is well situated for the airport and in a safe zone of the city. There are restaurants beside the hotel and across the road that were welcoming and had excellent food offerings, a bakery nearby that turned out some delicious food, and a couple of shops to pick up bottled water and snacks. I would recommend this hotel in Guatemala City without hesitation. I hope other travellers share this very positive experience. Thanks for reading.

Room was good, hotel was good. The breakfast buffet is awesome. The dinner menu was not very good. I found only one dish that was good. The other menu items were barely tolerable. It is difficult to get out and go to another restaurant, so I was stuck at the hotel, and could only have dinner there.

I always stay at the Holiday Inn as it is centrally located in Zone 10 of Guatemala City. There are many good restaurants within walking distance. I am always greeted with a smile by the bell boys and the receptionists and the rooms are always very clean.

Surprisingly nice and rather upscale for a Holiday Inn. Located in the heart of Guatemala City it is close to the airport and as long as you not trying to get there during business hours is only 15 min. away. If you have traffic plan on much longer. The rooms were great, I had a corner balcony that overlooked the city which was awesome except from 4-7pm when the trafffic is unbelievable and the drivers feel the need to constantly lay on the horn for absolutely no reason. There are no real traffic laws or policing of them if they do have them. Be careful trying to cross the street. The hotel has great access to shopping and restaurants all walkable and fairly safe. Staff was excellent, there is underground parking which is highly recommended and they will assist with your luggage from your vehicle. Pro-tip, there is a large scale in the parking garage to weigh your luggage prior to going to airport. Rooms are very modern and comfortable, takes a while to figure out all the fancy lighting controls. In room coffee maker is great with awesome Guatemalan coffee! Water even in the city is not safe so plan on bottled water even for brushing teeth. They do leave 2 bottles in the room. Shower not so great. Hot water seems to be an issue everywhere. It eventually gets warm but it takes a while. Bring a wash cloth, I did not find one hotel in my travels that supplied wash clothes.
