This hotel and staff exceeded my expectations. First class hotel. Location was perfect. I have already told my family and friends that Guatemala is a beautiful country and the Barcelo Guatemala City is the place to stay.. Hands down.
This is our second time we stayed at this hotel and it is awesome! This hotel is very clean, has high security, very comfortable beds, it's close to everything . The staff are all very helpful, professional and friendly. This is a great place to stay for the value, I highly recommend it.
The front desk agent was friendly and answered all of our questions on visiting Guatemala City. The hotel facilities and guest room was very clean. The restaurant servers were also friendly snd wanted to please us. The piano player in the lobby each night was awesome.
We loved Barcelo Guatemala City hotel. We arrived around 7 pm at the airport, the shuttle driver was already waiting for us at the arrival area, the hotel had nice, clean van and it’s only 5 minutes from the airport. Fast check in, the hotel is big and clean, our room was on the 8th floor with 2 balconies. We had a king bed and they provided us with 2 bottled water and a tray of fruits. They have a pool but we didn’t have enough time to enjoy it. Breakfast was very nice, they have different guatemalan food choices for breakfast everyday like fajita, plantains, beans. They also have the usual eggs, bread, cheeses, yogurt, cold cuts and lots of fresh fruits. The servers were so kind. We also ate at the restaurants inside the hotel, Kyoto for japanese cuisine and Strikers for american food. We exchanged currency at the front desk everyday since we don’t know how much money we will spend for every tour. We made Barcelo our base hotel and took tours everyday. We did Hobbitenango, Antigua, Chichicastenango, Guatemala city tour and Lake Atitlan with San Juan la Laguna, which we all booked via Viator, we were lucky that most tours it was only the 2 of us. There is a supermarket Paiz just one block from the hotel where we bought drinks and snacks. The area is very safe and the hotel has 24/7 guards at the lobby and gate. We also booked the shuttle going back to the airport, our flight was at 6am and we took the first shuttle at 4 am, plenty of time to get to the airport, security and immigration. Thank you Barcelo for the great stay and we hope to come back soon!…
I’ve been traveling to Guatemala for over 30 years and the Barceló is by far my favorite hotel. Exceptional service, the staff could not be nicer or more helpful. Great swimming pool and breakfast buffet, and close to the airport.
Overall experience was amazing. Clean and extremely well kept hotel. Amenities are out of this world, and the staff was helpful beyond belief. After staying in many hotels for business in Guatemala, this is definitely one of the best.
I stood three days at Barcelo and I enjoy the stay. I used the pool and the gym at location. I met some nice people while using the pool. The breakfast was very good and the staff provided great service. I have stay at Barcelo three times.
I have stayed at this property many times over the years and used to live in Guatemala, but have to say the hotel does need some IT rehab in their rooms (no USB connections) and can re-do the carpet and furniture as it is VERY dated and dark. I had a problem with my credit card that was used only for incidentals at the hotel, which was limited to one breakfast for me, which cost around 12 USD. My credit union cut off my card due to the charge for incidental being in Guatemala, and upon check out I received warnings for multiple charges on my card from the hotel. Keep in mind the room was paid in advance to Expedia with another credit card. When I got back to the US, I got an email from the hotel saying I was being charged 1200 Quetzales, which is about 150 dollars on the card Expedia had on file to pay for my room. I did not give Expedia permission to give anyone my card and the charge outstanding was only 12 dollars for one solo buffet breakfast. Why did Expedia give my card to the hotel, when I could have dealt with the hotel upon my return and paid the 12 dollar charge? I consider this a violation of my personal credit privacy and was not advised by Expedia that they had given my card number to the Barcelo. Poor Expedia. I am not. trying to resolve this overcharge and will contest this charge.…
We've used the Barcelo before when taking early flights or returning late at night to Guatemala. The shuttle service is excellent and the staff are very polite, helpful and hard working. The rooms and beds are very comfortable and quiet. We will definitely use the Barcelo again in the future and would really recommend it. Oh and the breakfast was delicious!
The best pool in the city, All the staff so kind and friendly and the Barceló loyalty program really brings benefits, if you want to stay in the city of Guatemala, it is surely one of the best accommodation options, it is also super close to the airport.
