This past summer, I stayed at this hostel 3 separate times with large groups each time (one of them over 30 people) . The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. Rutt and her family are so helpful and make you feel at home! It is so close to the airport and very central to so many areas in Guatemala City. Our non-profit will definitely be looking forward to staying at Guatefriends in the future! Thank you for everything!
Hostel Guatefriends is pretty close to the airport, they have free shuttle service to the airport, also breakfast is included, typical delicious Guatemalan breakfast, I tried first night in that place and it fulfilled my expectations, so I decided to visit it again in the other two nights I spent at Guatemala City, also this place has comfortable beds, clean rooms, and a terrace where you can share time with friends, or just take a break, the hostel at night is quiet, also you receive an excellent attention, also the price is great and not expensive for the services you receive, so I hope to visit this place next time I will be in Guatemala, quite recommended!
This is a family run hostel approx 350 meters from the International Airport. Free pick up and drop off is provided. Request for a room in the back away from the street as it can get noisy in the morning though the hostel is situated in a safe residential area. Expect aircraft noise until 1am. Beds are comfy and they provide soap and towels. Bathrooms are clean with hot water and good water pressure. Breakfast consists of scrambled eggs, beans, bread, fruit and coffee. Wifi is strong in all areas. It is possible to order meals from out as there are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Local tours can be booked through the hostel. The $10 shuttles to Antigua are available from the arrivals area at the airport and contrary to what online reviews state, it is possible to get shared shuttles even past a 9pm arrival. This is a cozy, well managed family run hostel and great for a one night transit halt before a flight in a safe and secure area. The host was very accommodating and friendly. …
Stayed here in two occasions during travels in Guatemala with four people. In summary; hostel is clean, provides a nice breakfast, solid communication and easy pick-up from the airport. In contrary to what the person below me wrote in his review our pick-up was smooth; I gave the hostel a call, looked out for their car and we arrived in the hostel within 10 minutes after the call. Not a 5/5 due to the price: being in a rather lackluster location in the city really only suited when traveling onwards quickly, a price of c. $20 pnpp is pretty steep in a country like Guatemala.
Clean, hot shower, nice patio area for relaxing. The room was very basic, but just fine. Good hot breakfast is included. Free ride from the airport, which is just 3 minutes away. Take an Uber if you want to visit the historic areas in Zone 1.
