Our mission team ate Sunday lunch at the hotel restaurant. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Wide selection of dishes, and the less complex ones were fine. The place is uniquely decorated. Important note the restaurant does not take Visa.
Our mission team stays here every year when we go to Chichi. Staff is very nice and accommodating and keeps the hotel clean despite its age. Most rooms now have hot water showers instead of the old "widow maker" type of shower head.
You get what you pay for at this place. We got two single beds as they were only ones left. Fairly clean room but the toilet was dripping all night. They have free water and instant coffee in reception. Fine for a single night when passing through this awesome little mountain town.
I have stayed at the Giron the last 6 years during mission trips. If it were in the US I would not stay there but with it being in Chichi and knowing how hard they work to keep it clean I don't mind staying there at all. Could they make some improvements? Absolutely, but the beds are comfortable. They change the sheets several times a week. And are very good about giving you fresh towels everyday. We also feel safe with the locked gate at night. This year we were excited to actually have tapped hot running water for showers.
Stayed for a mission trip for the 2nd time in 5 years. Not much has changed, but some rooms do have piped hot water now, not just the widow maker. Very safe, surrounding community can be a little loud at times, but not the hotel's issue. Great staff, even went the extra step with my towels a few days (see pictures)! Very convenient, market is right outside, can walk easily anywhere in town or take a TukTuk during the week.
