Copal Tree is a very inviting rain forest-located hotel, with lovely accommodations, good food, friendly staff, and a superb location. Seventeen large rooms are set atop a hill, looking over forest and down to the sea. Abundant wildlife includes howler monkeys, agouti, coatimundi, and scores of bird (and insect) species. The lodge employs many guides with expert wildlife knowledge, who are available to give tours or just eagerly answer questions from interested guests. We enjoyed cultural tours (Mayan ruins and food), snorkel adventures, and long birding trips. The 3000 acre property houses a rum distillery, so drinks are a focus and are well made. It also houses a farm, which sources a lot of the food on the all-inclusive menu. The farm and distillery tours are worth the time!
Amazing resort. Beautiful and magical! Stayed in a Signature canopy suite and words cannot express how incredible it was. The room was beautiful, the views were extraordinary! The food was amazing! The snorkel with the chef tour was so much fun! Just an entire day of boating, relaxing snorkeling and eating! The food was incredible! I highly recommend. One day we took a bike ride sound the farm which was a lot of fun, then took a jungle hike which led to the dock at the resort. I highly recommend this magical place in the jungle! Would definitely return!
The most incredible place to stay for a full jungle immersion experience. Stunning setting, amazing guides and service at the lodge, comfortable and peaceful, with true farm to table food and drinks. Bugs are a real thing in the jungle! But they have lots of spray available and rooms are designed to make it totally manageable. 4 nights is probably the perfect length of time to stay. Highly recommend spending extra to be in the canopy suites - they're really amazing rooms.
We LOVED this property, and we are somewhat picky. We booked last min so the family lodge was not available and the higher rooms were booked so we stayed in number 8. We were surprised there was no TV in any rooms but that's ok bc it forced us to unplug from life for a bit. The meals and tours were on pricier side but all very good and worth it. Our guide Desmond stood out- he went above and beyond for us. Everything was fantastic except the massages that my daughter and I had - we are massage junkies- we have them everywhere we go-we spent $265 each for top of the line massage and it was 2 star at best. I did complain to both the masseuse at time of massage as well as mgmt and they did offer 25% off. Other than that I would highly rec and would def come back again.
5 stars! Amazing stay with above expectation views, food, tours, rooms, and staff! Absolutely perfect for our honeymoon! The food was amazing - all inclusive farm-to-table is the way to go! Our tree canopy felt like a dream - we felt so spoiled and loved every minute of it! The tours were very personalized and the tour guides were very friendly/knowledgeable. We hope to be back to do more tours that are offered through the resort!
A memorable experience staying in the jungle. The location is fantastic - nestled in the jungle on the banks of the Rio Grande. The ability to trek solo around the jungle or kayak in the river was something we particularly enjoyed. The howler monkeys serving as a morning wake up call was not irritating in the slightest - a great experience to hear their vocalisations and witness their morning (and early evening) bouts of activity! Only area for improvement might be the food offering, but in reality this place is all about the location and the sense of being in the middle of nature and so any shortcomings on that front are perhaps less significant than would be the case elsewhere. Thanks for a great stay.
My wife and I stayed at Copal Tree for our honeymoon and we could not be happier with our experience. We stayed in one of the jungle suites. The room was amazing, with a beautiful view of the jungle and a massive rain shower in the bathroom. The setting cannot be beat if you love nature, from right outside our door we would regularly see monkeys, parrots, hummingbirds and lizards. A short walk from our suite was the tram that takes you down to the river, where you can take out kayaks or canoes. We kayaked a ton, going out in the early morning or evening when the wildlife is more active. We would see multiple new species of birds every time we went out, including toucans! The best part of our stay was the staff. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed and enjoyed getting to know the guides, waiters, bartenders, housekeepers, and farm staff. We did multiple half/full day activities including the snorkel with the chef, half day birding, and the waterfall/Mayan ruins tour. These activities took us to beautiful locales, but they really shined because of the guides. On the snorkeling and birdwatching activities we felt lucky to be with guides who could identify wildlife from a glimpse. Also shoutout to George, who could literally talk to the birds. At the Mayan ruins, we learned a ton from Jose and got to see the second tallest stella ever carved. We also took full advantage of the bar, where Oscar, Tim and Ambro made us amazing drinks with the rum made on site. The rum was so good we were sad we could only fit one bottle in our suitcase! We would also recommend the sunset cruise! Can’t wait to go back.…
From the second we landed in Belize in Punta Gorda, we had a van and a driver waiting for us. It was a 20min or so drive to the lodge. We passed the sugar cane fields, the organic farm and drove up a steep hill to the lobby. Nestled in the jungle we were escorted into the lobby and our luggage was taken to our canopy suite. As soon as we sat down, we had FRESH drinks handed to us from the bar, and I mean FRESHHH. Every single ingredient was grown on the property, even the simple syrup was made from fresh sugar cane. From that second forward we were briefed on the property, what to expect and taken to our GORGEOUS suite with a wrap around veranda, private pool, private bartender and a balcony jacuzzi tub for 2! The food, the drinks and service was second to none and we're so blessed to experience this. I can sit here and type for hours about how great it was, but I reccomned you experience this once in a life time experience for yourself. Oh yes, how could I forget, go all inclusive, that is the ONLY way to experience it!!…
We will definitely be recommending Copal Tree Lodge to family and friends for a unique jungle experience in Southern Belize. In addition, the fishing experience was wonderful through although set up through a third party vendor. Copal Tree provided transportation to/from which made logistics easy.
We went to Copal Tree Lodge for the first half of our honeymoon. We could not have picked better. Everything was amazing--the food, the room, the tours. We also want to thank the incredible staff and guides who made it such a special experience. Now that we're home, we're telling all of our friends and family to go.
