Sun Creek Lodge provides a rustic get away in the jungles of southern Belize. Family run, the place is beautifully set. I stayed in the Parrot cabana, which was airy and nicely furnished with multiple beds, table and chairs, a fridge, and a coffee maker. Electrical outlets were limited, so a large party would need to share. Breakfast is included with the stay and was excellent. Other meals can be arranged by request. Wifi coverage in the cabana was spotty, but is good in the main lodge. Each cabana has outdoor bathrooms and showers, which are a bit different and may not appeal to some. They were more than adequate for my needs. Sun Creek is right off the Southwest Highway and easy to find with good signage. You do get highway noise until about 8:00pm. More irritating are the neighbors barking dogs and crowing roosters, but that's par for the course in Belize. There is no A/C in the lodging. The Parrot had no ceiling fan, but did have a floor fan. As I said, this is more rustic and that's the intent. The location is excellent for visiting Punta Gorda, Lubaantun, Nim Li Punit, and other local attractions. The family and staff was courteous and helpful with lots of information about local sites and activities. I had a very pleasant stay and would stay here again.…
What a place! Great food, fantastic owners, and great tours. Lively discussion, an awesome blend of cultures and experiences. Our only complaint was we didn't stay long enough to do all the tours. You can go as fast or slow as you as you want and they'll take good care of you.
My son and I stayed 4 nights in late June while on a birding trip to Belize. Marisa, Thomas, and family were accommodating, gracious, and helpful hosts. Breakfasts were great and other meals are close by. We did several birding trips with local guide Steve Choco and saw tons of excellent birds. Highly recommended.
We booked this place a few minutes before arriving. There was one room left. Sun Creek Lodge is owned by a German family that gives great respect for Belizean diverse culture, and make every effort to treasure and support the people and land. The rooms are huts with an outside shower they have everything needed for a good night sleep. Very charming! Breakfast in tasty and plentiful. Thomas (Really the whole family) are in love with the Belize and will guide you to every treasure this area has to offer which are many. The common area is a hang out place for all to share their adventures and plans while drinking coffee, wine, or eating ice cream on the hammocks. Must stay here, you’ll not regret it!
If you are looking for that typical busy resort experience with full amenities then this is not the place for you. However, if you are looking to escape the busy modern towns and resorts, then come to Suncreek lodge. My family escaped for a much needed visit to Punta Gorda to visit relatives and we had a great time here. The rooms are clean and decorated with nice local art and mosquito nets on each bed. This comes in hand to keep any lingering bugs away- not only mosquitoes. Please remember that this property is in a jungle setting. They have wifi in the common area where breakfast is served and you can drop by to relax after a long day with a drink or meet new friends. They have a cooler with local Belikin stout, sodas and water that you can consume and pay at check out. Self service so they rely on honesty. The breakfast was good, and included in our room rate. Dinner can be arranged before hand. A car rental is highly recommended so you can visit the nearby town and villages for meals or to explore. A "Nice to have" would be a small pool for guests to relax after a long day. But maybe as the property sees occupancy increase Post-Covid its something they might consider. Also, more local beer options for the non stout drinkers. Not a biggy, but an observation. All in all- Melissa was a great host! Thank you for taking care of us, and we will definitely be back.…
The room was clean and decorated with a beautiful mix of the surrounding cultures! The common area was wonderfully natural and pretty! An amazing spot to hang out to do work, relax, eat, or just grab a drink while taking in the surrounding jungle and wildlife. The food was amazing and a perfect way to start the day full of energy. Dinner was also superb! The owners provide a homie, welcoming feeling. They were great with giving us advice to explore the surrounding area. All around a great place close to Punta Gorda!
Everything was great! Cozy accommodations, wonderful breakfast, rural Belize atmosphere, very nice people. Perfectly located in southern Belize for a multi-day home base worth every penny. Great place to stay!
This delightful lodge is just outside Punta Gorda. So you have to tell the bus driver to let you off early. From the road it is about a 5 minute walk, but your "roller" suitcase will be challenged a bit. The lodge owners were very accommodating and provided vegetarian and vegan meal options. The cabanas are situated to give privacy and have a higher wall area for the outside shower. The main "lodge" area is open and clean and for the first time I saw a hammock that was hung exactly right for lounging. Usually resort have them set with way too much sag. After a six hour bus ride from Belize City, it was near heaven.
We stayed at the Sun Creek Lodge for two weeks and it was amazing! The owners, Thomas and Marisa are beautiful people, always ready to make sure we were happy or just hang out for a friendly visit. Ms. Rosa is an incredible woman that you can’t help but love and cooks delicious breakfasts and helps clean the rooms. Everyone there made it an awesome experience for our family! Perfect if you prefer a serene jungle environment and only minutes away from the town of Punta Gorda and plenty of nearby attractions. For us it was the perfect getaway to relax after a full day of activities. 10/10 would highly recommend and will certainly stay at again when we can.
I loved the sound of nature all around & the natural lights pouring into the room through out the day. It's a comfort minimalist location with a feeling of home. My favorite feature is the bathroom which is indoor but outdoor at the same time. It gave me the most beautiful start to my morning to shower under the sun. My partner and I will definitely return
