I loved staying at this place. Orange Walk itself was a welcome relief from the stiflingly suppressive atmosphere of Belize City: people here were helpful and friendly. The Lamanai Riverside Retreat is superbly located, a ten-minute walk from the centre of town, and right bang on the banks of the beautiful New River which runs through town. The three cabins... The staff here were lovely. We arrived to orange walk later than expected and they were able to accommodate us and organise w trip to Lamanai the next day.the rooms were basic but the location was perfect. Next to the river we regularly saw crocs and lots of birds. The food was great -watch out The jerk fish is very... More

We didn't stay here, but we wish we had. We booked a Lamanai tour from here and later went back for some drinks. The hotel had a lovely view and everyone there seemed so nice. Raul drove us to dinner because the kitchen was closed at his place. The next day he saw us waiting for a bus in a... More

While driving along the bank of New River in Orange Walk, we decided to check out this restaurant beside the river. Surprisingly the cool breeze came in from the river onto the patio where we sat was very welcome on a very hot day. The food were good, portion were enough, very tasty. The waitress was very polite and courteous,... More

This is a great place, very welcoming hosts, yummy food, beautiful and peaceful river setting where you can spot lots of wildlife crocodiles, manatees, iguanas, and lots of varieties of birds. You can arrange a boat tour to Lamanai directly from there. The cabins are simple belizian style, very clean and comfortable. The price is fair can def. recommend this place for a few nights.

We have now stayed here twice...once two years ago and again last week. We can't speak to the rooms as we camped out front both times, but the family that runs the place is extremely pleasant, there's a great view of the river (only feet away) and our dinner was absolutely brilliant!

We went September 2009 for the Independence Day celebrations (23rd). Walked into the room (3) and my first thought was 'OMD!! It's just like a bordello, satiny, garish . . . . ' However, next morning, I felt totally differently. What lovely people own the place and everyone is soooo laid back. We were asked what we'd like for breakfast... More

Simple guest rooms with moskito netting, A/C and private bath, friendly management. I arrived very early in the morning by Bus and was able to check in without paying extra. You can get picked up by a boat for the river tour to Lamanai. There is a bar on premise that can get some guests but it wasn't too noisy

Lamanai Riverside Retreat is a nice neatly keep place to camp ($15us) or rent a room by the river that is close to banks and shopping. There is electricity and Wi-Fi at the river. Bathrooms and showers are around back of the restaurant. Nice place but too expensive for my budget, so I only stayed one night. But I do... More

This is good choice if you want to spend a night in Orange Walk. Restaurant and rooms are located just on the river bank. Owener was very helpful and arranged for us boat trip to Lamanai. Room was average
