One of the wonderful, unique things about Belize is it’s series of cayes, pronounced “keys,” which are many little islands off the coast, each with their own character. Staying on one is an experience way beyond that of a conventional hotel or resort. Ranguana Caye is a great island for this... it's small, with a friendly and attentive staff, and snorkeling right from the island. Most people visit for a day trip, which the people we met seemed to love, but we stayed 4 nights in a raised cabana with sweeping ocean views. We signed up for the all-inclusive and enjoyed the easy breezy, personalized service, "What time would you like your morning coffee?", "What would you like for dinner, lobster, fresh fish, or pork chop?" The staff were gracious and accommodating. Relaxing on the beautiful, picturesque beach, you can wade right into the water and see fish and an occasional ray, or snorkel to your heart's content. We even got to experience batches of baby turtles being born on the island, as we, and the staff, carefully helped direct wayward little ones out to the ocean. The staff was really friendly and welcoming. Freddy is the main bartender (with backup from Tommy) and is knowledgeable and willing to share interesting facts about all things Belize... it's food, people, culture. Chef Danny provided us with delicious ceviche and coconut shrimp, and meals at times we chose. The cabanas are pretty rustic, but the beds are comfortable. "Glamping" comes to mind. The hot water is spotty, but it works (I'd be careful with children showering, as the water can come out scalding hot before you adjust it). There is no A/C but a ceiling fan and a standing fan did the trick. When you see how up close and personal you are to the sea life and nature, you don't mind a little rustic. We enjoyed reading on the beach, kayaking and seeing who came by boat to visit every day. We met friendly Hondurans and mostly folks from the US, there on day trips to snorkel or fish. What the other reviews said are true. We felt so welcome and had a unique, thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable island vacation. We want to go again!

Ranguana is a dream island. We have had the most wonderful vacation, far beyond our highest expectations! This is the most serene place on earth. Incredible staff with the biggest heart. A rare experience with rare people. We woke up naturally each morning at 5:30 am to watch spectacular sunrises from our beautiful Laughing Bird cabana. Hot coffee was brought to our balcony during sunrise by our awesome island buddies with big smiles on their faces and a cheerful ‘good morning’! Breakfast is served whenever you feel like having one. We had ours each morning on the picnic table that’s overlooking the beach, right underneath the coconut trees. Quality fishing and snorkeling is EVERYWHERE. You’ll be eating the freshest fish of your life because you literally pulled it out of the water an hour before dinner. There are several major pristine reefs nearby and you’ll be in a world all to yourself, all the time. Take a kayak and feel free to explore the extreme beauty of this miracle of a place. Forget about cruise ships, the masses, news or politics. Prepare for birds, waves and the sound of breeze running though the leaves to be the soundtrack of your trip. Leave your shoes at the cabana and feel free to walk around barefoot on powdery white sand all day. Take a book and read it on a hammock, a sun bed, a trunk of a coconut tree that’s bent above the water, or in your balcony while friendly dotted stingrays pass gently below you, and while Bully the iguana is watching the horizon from the treetops. Ranguana will take your breath away. It will tenderize your heart. It will nourish your mind, and it will free your spirit. You will remember this trip because there’s nothing else quite like it. I’ve already booked the entire island for our next stay- my 40th birthday week with friends and family. Beware: You’ll need to almost be dragged off this little piece of heaven. 7 magical nights were NOT enough and we can’t wait to go back.

Me and my partner spent 3 nights at Ranguana Caye in May 2019 and I wish I could take the time back ! This small island in the middle of nowhere is a total paradise. It was our first experience on a tiny private island, and we had the time of our lives. Not only the island itself was extraordinary beautiful, surrounded by small island reef just few minutes swimming off the island, and the actual barrier reef 15 minutes by boat, everybody on the island looked after us extremely well (a big thank you to Freddie and Sarah who helped us organise our stay). You can enjoy different activities ranging from incredible snorkelling, fishing, kayaking or just relaxing in a tropical paradise. We received excellent pre-departure customer service from Sarah who answered all my questions and queries. I really hope to be able to come back very soon ! Until that time, I will come back to our lovely memories from this beautiful paradise.

My husband and I visited Ranguana Caye for my 40th birthday this month. We were completely blown away from our experience! The staff (Eli, Freddie and Juan) were so knowledgeable and friendly. They went out of their way to ensure that we experienced all the island and ocean had to offer. From snorkeling, to the cuisine and the overall atmosphere, these guys took such good care of us that we ended up going back for a second day! We have recommended it to all of our friends and will absolutely be back! If you’re looking for an authentic, relaxing island vacation, this is it!!

Came to the island for lunch during a day of scuba diving. Beautiful water around the well manicured island. I'm sure it's really quite in the evenings and morning before any day boats show up. We came to the island on a Wednesday, and that day there were maybe 20 people from various dive and fishing boats, plus a handful of staff.
