This was our fourth time down to Placencia and our first at Chabil Mar, and we LOVED IT beyond what any words can say. The grounds are spectacular, the pools are pristine, it’s in an ideal part of Placencia town - far enough to have peace and quiet but close enough t walk to EVERYTHING in town - the rooms were amazing (my family rented three separate villas), and the staff...OH MY GOD, THE STAFF ARE THE BEST EVER! Every single person we met on staff I feel like I can now call a friend: Sheldon, Nikita, Jordan, Nathalie, Ferdinand, Daniel, Oscar, Donas, Chris, and so many more, THANO YOU for making our family trip so magical in every way. We didn’t have to lift a finger or think, and after a very long year with exceptional family health issues, this trip was just what the doctor ordered. There is no question we will return. What a true gem in every way! …
I am reluctant to write this review since I don’t want to compete with others booking my slot for me next family vacation to Chabil Mar. This place is absolutely amazing. First and foremost, Chabil Mar is located in Placencia which is about 2 ½ drive from Belize City or 30 minute puddle jumper airplane. Transportation is widely available land or air. Where do I start… 1- This is a small resort where you find or feel that the servicing staff is almost 1 to 1 for every guest. Everyone is extremely friendly and accommodating. Example… We took in some sun too much one day and the staff noticed the same (we didn’t ask). The staff picked a fresh Aloe stalk from their onsite landscaping to rub on the burns. 2- Food is amazing and cooked to order. It’s not out of the ordinary to see the staff picking herbs or fruits grown on the property to go into the meal or your drinks (Can’t get any fresher than that). 3- Property is calm, peaceful and tranquil with no riff raff. 4- Views are spectacular from the property which has a deck right on the water. You can eat any meal on there. 5- I’m a fisherman and ended up fishing off the dock every morning and night. They have 4-5 foot tarpon mixed in with some barracuda hanging around the deck lights at night. Staff will direct you to a place in town where you can pick up a cheap fishing pole and gear (e.g. $30 US). 6- There are various toys that are completely included in your stay which include bikes for strolls into town, Kayaks (single and double) and snorkel gear (which is quite nice view in the blue water). 7- The hotel rents golf carts which is primary mode of transportation in town. If you want a break from the peace of Chabil Mar 8- There are two pools located on site which are infinity overlooking the Caribbean. 9- Short distance into Placencia village which you can either walk, drive, bike, golf cart or just ask the staff and they will take you via shuttle for free. 10- Rooms are very nice and all unique equipped with everything to include stove, oven, microwave, full sized refrigerator, comfortable beds and daily cleaning service. Security – Placencia is very safe with my family taking many midnight strolls on the beach into town. Chabil Mar adds another layer of safety by having a guard walk the beach all day and night. As indicated, I did a lot of fishing from the dock and the security guards were not always visible but were great resources of where the fish are. There is really no comparison with this place as Belize is considerably different than other popular locations such as Mexico. This place can be taken in with your own pace whereas some other “all-inclusive or like” properties treat their guest like huge herds of cattle with buffets, activities and thousands of people on the property. Lets put it this way, I have been going to Chabil Mar religiously over the past 3 years and see the same staff members and often find other repeat guest that vacation with us around the same time. This place will not disappoint.…
You won't regret coming to Belize and staying at Chabil Mar. Villas are spacious, quiet, and comfortable; staff are extremely friendly and helpful. As things reopen from COVID, everyone is extremely appreciative of our tourism as well. Easy walk, bike or golf cart ride to town where you can snorkel or dive, grab a bit, get souvenirs, and sample some great gelato. The beach and pools at Chabil Mar are lovely if you. just want a quiet day without a tour or hike. We can't recommend Chabil Mar enough!
Chabil Mar is simply wonderful. Nikita is truly one of the kindest most hardworking people we’ve ever met and she made our stay perfect! The entire staff is phenomenal and the hotel itself is unmatched!
We just returned from a great vacation in Belize and Chabil Mar was the perfect place to stay. The resort is beautiful, perfectly located just north of the village and only a minute or two away by golf cart. The staff is amazing, especially the concierge members Nikita and Sheldon who set us up with the best tours in Belize. Bartenders Ferdinand and Oscar were great and shared the best local restaurant advice. Ryan was so helpful in providing a ride when we needed one. And the food was great too from chef Daniel. We will definitely be back again, hopefully soon!
