The room was amazing and completely clean. The location is ideal as it is at the entrance of the village which gives you the opportunity to explore it in its entirety in one easy drive. The people are really hospitable.
I should say this place is probably better when not during the global pandemic, but I'll try to give a review that is fair. The staff of the resort are all super nice, friendly, and helpful. Everyone made us feel welcome and they all took care of our needs. The physical condition of the property is slightly in need of repair. Our 2 bedroom, on beach condo was pretty old, needed a good cleaning, and there were several unwanted visitors as in cockroaches. It was likely just the fact that they are short staffed due to the pandemic, and I'm hopeful the owners will buff up the place once we get back to whatever the new normal is. The food at the restaurant was good, not great. The housekeeping staff seemed to forget about us, so I had to keep calling to get the basic essentials refreshed. Over all, this place is good, but I suspect there are better just down the street, maybe even for a cheaper price. This place does have great beachfront, with fun/free toys to use for some water activities. The water off the beach had a bunch of jellyfish along with a few spotted eagle rays and the usual assortment of fish. …
My husband and I went for an anniversary outing to the Placencia Resort. The pool is a great place to just relax and have a couple drinks, although I’d say the food and drinks are a little overpriced. But the worst thing is the amount of sandflies. I forgot to spray OFF the first time we went on the beach, and it’s 2 days after and I have seriously HORRIBLE itching! My husband doesn’t have that problem so it’s definitely different for everyone but that’s just one thing where I think the resort should do something to lessen the amount of sandflies. All in all, despite the aftermath, our stay was pleasant, the staff was really nice, and it’s a great place to unwind!
First of all, I want to say that the staff at The Placencia is amazing. So friendly, helpful and willing to go the extra step. We did not get to say goodbye to William, but he made our first days of acclimation so easy. Also a special thanks to Jason for all of the coconuts! The pool is definitely a highlight and the beach is kept spotless. We had read that water was not swimmable, but did not find that problem. The bottom is mucky due to construction up the coast, but we spent time in the water and really enjoyed the paddle boards and kayaks. Saw some Jellyfish, but not much in the swimming area. I personally loved the Iguanas! The food was good, but it is a rather limited menu, so ventured out a lot and did buy some groceries for the room. The two main criticisms would be some of the room features, or lack thereof, and the high price of the food. We found other restaurants to be much more economical with more choices, which was frustrating when you don't feel like leaving for a meal. The chef was great and flexible when we ordered slightly off menu. They also prepared a special meal for one of the local holidays and had drummers at dinner. The room was missing things, but I think they are also pretty individualized, so not sure how much of a problem it is overall. However, we had not towel hooks or racks, which is an issue in a humid climate for a beach vacation. The lighting was not well done in our room and both bathrooms could have used some updating. Another huge miss is the patio furniture. They have huge patios and no comfortable chairs to sit in or tables to eat or play cards on. Would add to the living space if they made these more cozy and functional. So overall a wonderful stay, just some basic comforts that would have made it a little more in line with the price tag.…
We visited the Placencia Resort Oct 18-26. We were treated exceptionally well. Everything gets a excellent rating from us for the Staff, amenities, lodging, pools, restaurants, grounds, tours, and on and on. Our primary contacts were Edgar, our tour guide and driver. He is well versed in the culture, geography, Mayan ruins, and is top notch. The go to person if any issues show up is Mayesha, she handles everything. Such a pleasure having her to assist us. Such a pleasant person that seems to be working 24-7. Thank You!! Other names of staff that helped us immensely are Irma, Hiaro, Travis, Pablo, William, Daniel, and more that I forgot.
