The 1st room bedroom TV did work because the internet wasn't working. The pool area needs new chairs, umbrellas, and replacement tiles. There were two bottles holding up the bar. The volleyball 🏐 net was in bad shape. Ocean Beach area needs new furniture. This place has nice staff and great cooks. Black mold in the closet.

Hotel's Favorite
We just returned from an amazing week at the Placencia. I was a little worried before we arrived because I had read some bad reviews, but we loved it ! We flew to Placencia on Maya air. A shuttle from the hotel was waiting to take us to the resort. We traveled with 2 other families with 7 kids ranging from 4-10. We each had a two bedroom suite which were clean and spacious. The showers were my only complaint- the water was a little hard to turn on and off and the water pressure was not great. But judging from the plumbing we experienced everywhere else on Placencia, this wasn't a huge surprise. We rented golf carts for the week, which was a must. The hotel shuttles were often full and only left at certain times. We loved being able to go anywhere we wanted whenever we wanted. It was nice to have a full kitchen. We went grocery shopping and cooked most of our breakfasts in our room, as the hotel restaurant was pretty slow. The food was good for breakfast and dinner, but it took a long time. We enjoyed venturing out to Maya beach, seine bight, and into Placencia village for meals. The pool was warm and beautiful. The pool bar had a great service and delicious drinks. The beach was nice and had bags, jenga, and volleyball. We didn't swim at the beach because the seaweed made the water cloudy, but our kids enjoyed playing in the surf and doing the paddle boards and kayaks. We ate out on the pier one evening and the sunset was breathtaking. Housekeeping always came while we were out and did a great job. The excursion to Ranguana Caye was so much fun. We had a great week!

Food: Food quality was mediocre. We had the all inclusive meal plan and the food was what I would expect at a mediocre mall food court. They were constantly out of food and drinks. Their cappuccino machine was broken all 4 days which left us with mediocre black coffee. One day we went through multiple drink and food orders and they said they were out of each. Also, the steak (Walmart quality) is apparently not a included in the meal plan and we received a surprise charge at checkout. After I complained the front desk said there was nothing they could do. At best, it's a quick meal if you just need something, but please don't tie yourself down with the meal plan. Lots of great restaurants to try. Service The dining service was awful, but room and pool bar service we're fine. This is how most every meal went: we'd find a seat, we'd wait, waitress would stop by to ask if we wanted to eat, we'd wait, then she'd grab waters, we'd wait, then she'd take our orders, food would come, a few minutes would go by and she'd check in , we'd finish eating, we'd wait, she'd clear the table, we'd wait, and then we'd often have to flag her down to get the check. We were also the only people in the restaurant. Stack this slow service on top of them being out of menu items, mediocre food, and the surprise charge for steak and you can see why I don't recommend the meal plan. Rooms: We had a suite and the room was fine. The quality is on par with $120/night hotel in the States. The majority of the room was clean, beer was comfortable, but the couch on the living room was heavily stained. TV had a few channels one day and the next it didn't work at all. The buildings themselves are becoming run down and do not look like their website. Pool: The pool is the highlight of this poor quality resort. Pool bar service was good. Pool was mostly clean, although late in the day it starts to collect sand. There are some areas where the tiles had broken off, but didn't pose any safety concern. The men's bathroom by the pool smelled like an outhouse in Central America. Beach The beach was a mixed experience. It was fine for sitting under a cabana. The water was shallow, warm, and brown with lots of little weeds at the bottom and floating on top. Visibility was less than a foot. Lots of sargassum build up on windy days causing the beach to stink. Overall value: This is a decent resort if you are just looking for a home base in Placencia with basic amenities. Avoid the all inclusive packages and try other bars and restaurants. I still think it's overpriced for what you get, but if you keep low expectations, you might be only slightly underwhelmed.

Resort is pretty. Rooms are fine. Service generally nice. Beach itself looks good, but the water looks like lake water - almost muddy looking with lots of stuff floating around. Not seaweed. Like grass and debris. Food and drinks have so far been bad. Overpriced but not more than you’d expect at any other resort. They’re just not good which is the disappointing part. Food has all been overcooked and dried out. No WiFi at all. Despite what they tell you. You can connect to the WiFi, but the WiFi can’t connect you to the internet.

Greetings from The Placencia Resort in Belize, We know that life can become a bit hectic as you return to your daily lives. As such, thank you very much for taking the time out to leave us a review. We understand that your stay with us, was not as planned. We apologize for your experience, and would like a moment to address some of your concerns. The Waters: While we generally boast pristine waters along our shores, with the onset of the tides, the shallow water along the shore tends to become a bit murky. Additionally, Turtle grass forms meadows in shallow sandy locations in the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. Turtle grass and other seagrasses form meadows which are important habitats and feeding grounds for various marine life. For these reasons, this grass is allowed to thrive. To offset this, we have a team of grounds keepers who work tirelessly to assure that our beaches are maintained daily. Our restaurant prices are in line with like resorts within the area. While we pride ourselves in offering an authentic Belizean Culinary experience, we have to apologize for your experience as this is not the food quality that we promote. In cases where guests are unhappy with a meal served, we encourage you to reach out to our food and beverage manager, who is readily available to address your concern While WiFi is available throughout our property, the service may be a bit spotty at time. We recommend connecting in the common area to secure uninterrupted WiFi internet access. We are happy to report that we are in the process of improving in all areas of our business. We would love the opportunity to host you and your loved ones for a future visit and show you a different experience. It is our objective to ensure a memorable stay for each of our guests, and we apologize that this was not the experience that you received. If you would like to further discuss this review, we invite you to give us a call at 1-877-417-9179.

We came to The Placencia Resort for my wedding. I spent on year working with Lizbeth Casasola making all of the accommodations. My visit/wedding was epic. Words can not express how beautiful and pleased we were. Every single detail that I gave Liz for my expectations for my wedding we taken to the next level. It was like a fairy tale. I would tell any bride to work with Liz. She takes the time to listen and makes you feel like no one else but you are important. I forgot my husband ring in my room this woman ran across the resort to retrieve his ring so that by the time we said I Do I had the ring in my hand. That's dedication. She treated us like family and my entire family fell in love with Liz.

The Placencia The Placencia, a Muy'Ono Resort We had to wait a long time to get our room. We arrived at 2:15, latest check in was supposed to be at 3 but didn’t happen until 4:20! Once again, the people win! Smiles, Tracy, Michelle, Yasser, Junior, David, Leonard-cho, Nairobi, Sandy, Darwin, Jeremy, Jason and Sudi were great. If it wasn’t for them, the food (best chicken wings)and drink, this would have not been a great stay. Most of the vacationers were great, but you get those ugly, LOUD PEOPLE! Our room was ok, the place was a bit tuned down especially the back side where they put us. It was good to be in the back of the building! Loud people all around us. They really need to put some time into fixing structures, windows, painting, the stairways and buildings,. The shower was OK but it was one of those that come straight out of the top so if you didn’t want to get your hair wet there was no way to avoid. The toilet Was so low and every time that you did your squat, the toilet seat would flip up, and make noise it became very annoying. The bed was OK, the sheets were stiff, and I felt like I crawled into them with sand already being on those. Also, the bed headboard itself rattled, and made a crap load of noise. What I do know is that there are much better hotels for the kind of money that they ask for. ALSO, a plug, a great feature, they offered us a free shuttle. They did pick us up from the airport and, also took us back we really appreciated that. All in all, Not sure if we would stay there again, probably not!

We are pleased that our staff were key to providing you with a welcoming experience. With that said, thank you for bringing to our attention the areas of opportunities during your stay. Allow me a moment to address some of your concerns. As with most properties globally, our standard check in time is at 3:00 PM. I got back a few days ago from my stay at the Placencia. Overall I’d say there’s room for improvement. As solo Belizean traveler my intent was a relaxing weekend. The room was clean and comfortable. Only minor complaint would be that there was a missing blind, which could be looked into. The biggest improvement has to be the food. It could use a bit more flavor as there were two times I ordered and really wasn’t pleased especially given the price. Who wants to pay for expensive unflavored food right? The worst one would be my to-go breakfast. I’d hope to see some improvements in this aspect as, if one doesn’t have transportation to a restaurant in the village, you’d depend on the in-house restaurant. The staff was pleasant, from the receptionist to the bartender, waitresses and housekeepers and the manager as well. I’d also hope they add some snacks other than food, drinks and desserts, perhaps some local chocolate snacks or ice cream or even a variety of locally made chips. This would allow for children and young at heart to snack as they enjoy pool or lounging. Other than that, everything else was pleasant and very enjoyable. The property is clean and very appealing. The beach is kept clean and there was no sargassum build up to harbor smell. I would definitely visit again with family and sincerely hope to see improvements next time around.

Overall for the money and in comparison to other resorts I’ve stayed in Belize I would give The Placencia a 5 star out of 10. Many cosmetic blemishes that are an eye sore. Cracked and missing tiles from the pool area and steps leading to the room(too many to count), broken garbage disposal in the room, hand towel rack in bathroom barely hanging on, loose hot water handle in shower. The food at the resort is very overpriced and not very appealing. Luckily we only had to rely on their food for a night or two. We caught the bartender at the pool overcharging us for drinks several times and my husband had to question him about it. Charging twice the price. The staff overall were just ok. Friendly but not overly so as other encounters with Belizeans. Based on our experience I can’t say that this is a resort I would recommend.

This resort and staff are excellent! We went with 3 couples and stayed in a 3 bedroom house. All the doors can be locked out to make it a one bedroom, 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom. We had everything we needed while we were there. The pool was nice, no sargassum on the beach. We had a really good time. The lady at the front desk recommended some places for dinner which was excellent.
