This private resort is a hidden gem! If you're looking for peace, quiet, relaxation, a non-party atmosphere.... totally Zen... then this is your retreat! The island only has a few villas, so there's not a lot of traffic. Our villa was three bedrooms, each with a private bath, and a living area and kitchen. It also had a plunge pool, and the villa sat directly on the ocean with phenomenal views! We slept with the sliding doors opened every night listening to the waves crash. There is no villa without a beautiful view and direct ocean access.

You can only access the island by boat. We had an all-inclusive meal plan, and the food was great! We also brought along our own spirits and snacks because there are no stores to access any type of food. Meals are served only three times per day, so if you're hungry in between serving times or miss a serving time, there's no other food options.

We did snorkling, boating, and canoed. We drank fresh coconut milk picked straight from trees. There are community games available for play. There's only one television on the entire island. It has a Firestick, so you can put in your password if you'd like to watch TV. WiFi was good, but not great. Kind of spotty.

Everyone on the island was extremely kind and helpful. Melvin was a joy! He took great care of us... He was an additional delight to our vacation! I'm horrible at remembering names, but a special thank you to each and every one of the island's staff for making our stay enjoyable and memorable!

This trip was a girls' trip, and now I'm eager to return with my husband so that he can experience this magical "Fantasy Island"!

Ray Caye is AMAZING! Not only is the island beautiful, peaceful and relaxing, but the STAFF truly makes this place special. This was my third trip to Ray Caye, once as a mother/daughter trip, second trip for my daughter to get married, and third trip was to celebrate a new career for me. I thought of exploring a different place in Belize for the third trip but could not even imagine anyplace better than Ray Caye. When you have found paradise...why look any further. The staff are phenomenal and truly treat you like family. We snorkeled, SCUBA, paddle boarded, got massages, and just enjoyed our time together. To top it off, the Lionfish Grill is amazing! Two of our 5 people were VEGAN. They figured they would eat rice and beans for a week, but no, the chef was able to accommodate this and made some of the most amazing vegan dishes for every meal - and dessert!! Truly this was the icing on the cake for this trip. He made a curry dish that was to die for! If you are up in the air on coming, I can guarantee that this will be the most amazing place you have ever visited with the most amazing people working there. I can't wait for my fourth trip...! Lastly...on my bucket list was to see a WHALE SHARK and we were so lucky that on our second whale shark dive this behemoth came from the depths and did a drive-by not once, but twice. I can tell you it was the most surreal - amazing experience EVER and so glad I could share that memory with my Ray Caye family!

Ray Caye was our final destination in Belize. Transfers to it (from Chaa Creek) were comfortable and smooth. The boat trip could be less pleasant depending on your fellow passengers. A mix up by our tour company meant we weren’t allocated the room we were expecting with a bath and we were given room C8. This would be a very pleasant light room with good views of the East side of the Island except it is linked to C9. The walls are paper thin. We could clearly hear the discourse of some loud and selfish guests made worse by their laughing and chatting noisily at 5am the next day. We dealt with this in the time honoured fashion but, irrespective, the sound proofing is inadequate. We got the distinct impression that the managing director was not that bothered about this or our other minor complaints as the party of 30 or so making the noise were a significant proportion of the resort.
We were offered a move but this was messed up when they got our leaving date wrong.
That’s the negatives. The positives are that the rest of the staff are excellent. They could not be more friendly, helpful and professional. William (fishing), Candido (sailing) and Charmaine (massage) in particular and Noya, Antonio and all the guys in the restaurant and bar.
I didn’t meet the chef(s) but the food at bfast lunch and dinner was exceptional and priced reasonably. There was a good choice and they would be happy to offer an alternative if you asked. My catch from a trip was delicious.
Drinks were reasonably priced for an Island 17 miles from a supply line.
The island was extremely well maintained and clean with several small beaches to swim off. Low tide restricted this but the piers all had ladders into deeper water.
Apart from the room, noise was kept to a low key mainly around the restaurant.
If going avoid C8 when the Yoga group are weekending!

A perfect place to have lunch after hours of snorkeling with sharks and sea turtles! We chose fish tacos and a club sandwich. We enjoyed a little walk on the beach. It was a day trip we didn’t stay on island but that’s a possibility. The lunch prices seemed to be around $15-20 American per person but the experience=priceless!

Ray Caye Is our favorite place to vacation by and far. We rented this island for a week and had over 30 guests/friends, our friends fell in love with the place. We love this small cozy island. The staff is AMAZING and we know all of them by name and consider them family. Their attention to detail and your needs are better than any 5 star accommodations I’ve ever witnessed and they are sincere about It. I have So many great things to say about this little Paradise, i could Literally go on and on but, the staff truly makes this paradise what It is. Their chef is incredible and I’m amazed that they can cook for big groups and still prepare delicious meals.
Another thing I truly enjoy about this island, when you first get onto the island, Dasha greets you, tells you all the things they offer like, scuba diving, fishing and many other excursions, then they leave you alone. No high pressure sales trying to get you to empty your pockets on excursions. They want you to have fun doing whatever makes you happy. If you want to lay in a hammock and read a novel for 4 days, they’re happy as you are. If you want to book a diving trip, they are on It quick and taking care of all your needs.
I could go on and on about this amazing place. In my opinion, anyone who leaves a bad review about this hidden little gem is in the wrong place to begin with.

If you're thinking about booking here, do!! My wife and I had an amazing time on our Honeymoon. We felt so well taken care of from the booking process to any questions that we had before we even reached the island. Once on the island the staff was incredible from the dining team, the grounds crew, the welcome center, the dive shop, and housekeeping. Top notch service all the way around. The food options and variety was on point and the quality of the ingredients was exceptional. I can't say enough about everything that we did, saw, and experienced. A trip we will remember for the rest of our lives.

This was our second trip to Ray Caye and it was wonderful. We had tried a different resort, you know the saying, "You never buy your first car" Well in this case we were lucky enough to find the best place our first trip to the Caribbean. We met a really nice couple that told us they had been all over the Caribbean and this was their favorite place. You can snorkel right off the Island and every time I went out I saw something new. My wife and I took a trip to their sister Island, MoHo, and loved the white sand beach, spearing our own Lobster lunch and the company of Elroy and Jeffrey (the two employees and now friends) that took us out for the day. We have found our "Go to" place for romance and fun!!!

If you have not visited Ray Caye Island Resort, add it to your list because everyone deserves a taste of paradise.
We spent 3 nights at Ray Caye Island Resort and we were blown away by the excellent customer service we received from the staff (From the house keeper to the waitors to the bartender to the tour guide to the director). Everything we requested was made possible, even if permission needed to be requested. Our kids loved the kids- friendly pool. We had our own pool on our villa but they preferred the main pool because it was perfect for my 1 year old daughter. The slide was a highlight for us. We were on the slide every afternoon and jumped from the Dock couple times a day.
We even did a hobbie cat ride with Jeff. This ride was informative and fun.
The food and drinks served were also great. I loved the fresh watermelon and orange juice.
The view from our room was amazing but I realized that every location had a perfect view. It definitely was an amazing four days in paradise.

We stayed at Ray Caye for a week in May 2021. It was a wonderful experience. Accommodations were first rate including air conditioning and fast internet connections. The food served at resort’s restaurant, the Lionfish Grill, was exceptional For breakfast and lunch, you order off a menu and dinners are a 3 course menu with options to choose from for appetizers and main courses. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. We are avid snorkelers and had an outing every day to nearby reefs to snorkel that were great. The guides were personable, knowledgeable and flexible. Our main guide Elroy was in a class by himself and became a good friend by the end of the week. Working with Ardie to arrange our visit was a pleasure. This was our first vacation in a very long time due to the pandemic and we couldn’t have made a better choice. Bravo, Ray Caye!

My husband and I went here on our honeymoon. I cannot even think of where to begin to sing the praises of this beautiful little island and all of its staff… Noe, Pablo, Floret, Morris, Melvin, Elroy, Brent, and one guy whose name is slipping my mind but he loves to tell people about “sky juice.” Our accommodations were beautiful and we were right by the dock. We had the best massages ever. We enjoyed snorkeling. We did a day of fishing. When I got sea sick fishing, word spread quickly on the island and so many staff members checked on me and offered to help me so my husband could go back out on the boat. We’ve since found out that we had a little freeloader, due April 2024 :) The staff truly seemed friendly and like they really wanted you to know and enjoy this place and their individual cultures. We got to choose one of the fish we caught for the chef to prepare and it was PERFECTION. Every meal we had was fresh and flavorful and perfectly executed. We truly cannot say enough good things about this place and hope to return one day, +1 :)

I didn’t fish but the guys in our group went out with Elroy for a half day and had a great time. Elroy was great! (I don’t know how far out they had to go.)They were fishing with rod and reel and mostly caught snappers. Our experience with all the staff at Ray Caye is they want you to have a good time and will be honest about your chances for success and will be happy to point you in the right direction. I ‘d wait to talk to the staff on the island and not try to arrange it beforehand.

We’re going in a few weeks. Do the jet ski’s ruin the peaceful tropical island feeling?
Placencia, Belize30 contributions6 helpful votes
Hi there - The jetskis are all on dry dock at the moment waiting for various parts for repair and general maintenance. We will not have them up and running again until sometime in late February, however, when they are in use they are only used on one side of the island (the opposite side of the accommodations) and are very quiet so not heard from the island. Hope this helps!
