The Ellysian was wonderful and the staff helped to make our family vacation in Placencia truly amazing! This was the best trip that we’ve been on and we will definitely be back. Placencia is beautiful and such a fun and friendly village with beautiful beaches and lots of fun things to do.
The entire Ellysian team are the best in the business - Shinellie, Jean, Cherilyn, Chantel, Javier, Nelson, the bar staff and the drivers - exceptionally talented and warm people who took unbelievably good care of us. I cannot recommend the Ellysian enough, both as an idyllic holiday destination and an elopement venue. Having faced the challenges of planning a wedding through the pandemic, myself and my (then) fiance Ben decided last-minute to elope. We chose the Ellysian elopement package and it was the best decision we ever made. From the minute we reached out to the hotel, everything was beautifully taken care of. Shinellie, our wedding planner, was extremely responsive and professional throughout the entire lead-up to the wedding and handled everything beautifully despite the short notice. The room was stunning, very well air-conditioned with beautiful views over the Caribbean. The location was fabulous, right on the Placencia sidewalk. It was close to all the action but was always quiet and serene. Muna, is one of the most beautifully-appointed restaurants I have ever seen and the food was fantastic. The chef (who I believe was named Nelson) is exceptionally talented and was completely flexible in creating an unbelievable wedding menu for us - uniting local and international cuisines. The only sad thing was that we were too full to finish it all! Shinellie and her team helped us through all the paperwork, and we had a driver take us to get our licence and to handle all of the administrative requirements. On our wedding day, all we had to do was show up! The team even took photos for us, and they're so good that they look genuinely professional. Thanks to the Ellysian for making our wedding day the happiest one of our lives and for making Belize our dream destination.…
The property is gorgeous for sure. It's in a great location in Placencia where you're a short walking distance to everything you'd want to do in the town (with the exception of excursions that are further out). I'd say the highlight of The Ellysian was the staff, particularly Vanessa and Chantel. Both of them went above and beyond to make sure I had an amazing birthday trip. Majority of the staff was friendly, kind, and attended to their guests. They're the reason I'm giving the hotel a 4/5 instead of 3-3.5/5, which would be a little bit more accurate. While the property is gorgeous, clean, and safe, a few improvements are needed. A better system is needed so that guests get what they need but don't feel like they're bothering the staff when asking. None of my WhatsApp msgs were responded to, but email was. Couch cushions in the room and on the balcony were stained, the "nightstands"/wood attached to the bed were a bit dusty, I couldn't enter through the front door after hours because my key didn't work, and there was a mishap with one of my excursions. When brought to the staff's attention, they did attempt to rectify. These are minor details that can happen with a boutique hotel. Definitely give grace and understand boutique hotels don't have the same bandwith as chain hotels. My major complaint is the price for what you get. I don't mind paying great money for hotel accommodations. However, I didn't like the surprise hotel service fee for food, drinks, massage, and excursions. Belize is a very inexpensive place, and I ended up paying a lot of money to only be there for four nights. There are much, much cheaper options in Placencia. But will you get the beauty of The Ellysian and everything being onsite? Maybe not. Would I recommend The Ellysian? Absolutely! Do I think I overpaid for the value? If I'm being honest— yes, I do.…
First of all, this hotel is in an excellent location. We were able to walk to many restaurants and little shops. And it's right on the beach. Also has a pool and outdoor bar. The staff was wonderful- very friendly & helpful. We had early morning excursions so the receptionist arranged for us to have breakfast ready at opening time at the Muna (rooftop restaurant) one day and another day, ordered us a take out breakfast for the morning (which we actually got the night before). They also arranged for someone to come to the hotel to administer our covid test which we needed to get back into the US. There were a few minor things that I would've liked: I like a clock in the bedroom (I wake up in the night and like to know the time) and a telephone. I know everyone has cell phones now but one morning, the water wasn't working. We didn't have the hotel number so I had to run down to the reception desk to let them know. When I had read the description for the Ellysian, it said hair dryers were provided so I did not bring one. We didn't have one in the room but after asking, one of the staff found one for us. All in all, it was a great experience.…
My husband, our kids, and I had a wonderful stay at the Ellysian Hotel. The staff was really kind, helpful, and friendly. We had the world’s best waiter. The cook was amazing. He even cooked a fish one of our kids caught. He also cooked a fresh lobster that we bought. The food was fantastic! The restaurant has a beautiful view. The room was very clean and comfortable. The beds were very comfortable which is rare when staying at a hotel. Our family was very impressed with everyone and everything at this hotel. We give it a five star rating!
My husband and I had the most amazing stay at the ellysian! The rooms were beautiful and every room had a balcony. The staff was beyond warm and welcoming and made our excursians effortless. Jean at the front desk took great care of us and even got us a semi private snorkeling tour that was so special. Vanessa was a fabulous mixologist and just made me drinks that she thought I would like and they were fabulous. The rooftop restaurant is fantastic and the staff made the food taste even better. We got in late our first day and Havier (sp?) melted our hearts with his warm greeting. Eddie and Justin were also really great. We took every restaurant recommendation the front desk staff gave us and we were never disappointed! Thank you again for a wonderful stay. We can't wait to come back. -Janine and Chad P…
Love this place!! We had such a wonderful time here. The atmosphere, our room, the views were all so beautiful but nothing compared to the staff and workers at the hotel. They brought us Complementary drinks on the beach when we first arrived. The service was excellent and everyone was so kind and helpful. They arranged all our attraction trips and transportation. There are many great restaurants and boardwalk in walking distance, not to mention the beautiful restaurant Muna and spa on the top floors of this hotel. And since we were from out of the country they had our Covid test scheduled there at the hotel before we left. This was a perfect place for a nice romantic getaway! This will be our favorite spot whenever we come to Belize!
We had such an amazing time at this lovely little hotel! The rooms are spacious and chic and comfortable. It sits on a beautiful beach within walking distance of everything fun to do in Placencia. And the restaurant Numa on the rooftop is beautiful, with excellent food and a stunning view. But what made the Ellysian so especially wonderful is the delightful staff, who were so warm, welcoming and helpful! Throughout our stay in Belize, we were impressed with the kindness and warmth of the people, but the Ellysian took it to a new level! Well done!
We traveled to Placencia to last week and stayed in one of the family suites with our 3 kids. The suite was much larger than expected with a separate bedroom from the living area and kitchen. We spent a lot of time at the pool on the beach. Staff were very accommodating and made a point of checking in on us to ensure we had everything we needed during out stay.
