Almond Tree Resort was hands down a wonderful experience. The rooms are clean, quiet, and peaceful. Though they may not be considered super-luxurious by American standards, they are very nicely appointed and tastefully decorated.
The hotel grounds are absolutely gorgeous and pristinely maintained, filled with a beautiful arrangement of tropical plants. The pool was cleaned every morning during our stay and there is a small beach, along with multiple places to sit and enjoy the view, either bay side or on the pool deck. The grounds are quiet and feel very safe.
My sister and I stayed in room 6 (two twin beds on the pool side) and Betsi, Cecelia, and the other staff were so friendly and accommodating. They were understanding about our late check-in, helped us make appointments at the local clinic for our Covid test, allowed our local family to join us at the hotel for dinner and pool time, and also arranged a car service for our return to the airport.
The food was excellent, and we appreciated the morning coffee immensely!
I’ve been coming to Corozal to visit family for almost 10 years and Almond Tree is one of the only places that has stayed in business during that time. I will never stay anywhere else.

Little hotel, just outside of town but right on the beach, and with a beautiful garden and relaxing pool area. Very friendly owners. Spacious room. We did find the room cleanliness somewhat less than expected (a few spider webs, some dust, a sink well that had some hairs on it), plus shower pressure was somewhat mediocre (not so good for people with long hair). But judging from what we’ve seen, easily the best hotel in town and a comfortable place to stay for a night or two.

This is a quiet hotel which feels like a big bed & breakfast. We loved the pool especially because all the days we were there it was quite windy and not ideal to swim in the ocean. The hotel does not really have a full bar and if you want to eat you must schedule it in advance. Fortunately it is within walking distance of a couple of other restaurants and that is what we did on most nights. If you want some quiet downtime by the pool, this place is perfect.

Room Tip: We saw a crocodile in the ocean about 20 feet from shore so if you want to swim there, think twice.

This is a one a kind hotel with views to die for! This was our second visit and will be back! If you want peace and relaxation this small hotel will be your heaven! Our room was a little warm but we stayed the start of Aug. I loved the home made French toast , you get to watch it made if you sit at the cozy bar to a ocean breeze, drinking fresh juice . It’s to die for!

Disappointed with this property. To me a resort would have a bar, poolside service, a restaurant open for most of the day and a degree of opulence in the rooms.

This place is nothing more than a simple b&b with a swimming pool. You’re about a 10 minute walk to the nearest restaurants and given the security the houses have around them on that street I’m not entirely sure walking down there at night was the best idea.

There seems to be a problem with a number of Corozal hotels not listing on the online booking sites but do persist and contact directly if something appeals.

Due to the Covid-19 lock down, borders closed we had to find a place for one night as the roads from our location were flooded. We had the place to ourselves, except for Betsi and the owner. The room was nice, clean and spacious. Our rate included breakfast so we were able to get up early, eat, and catch our ride to the airport. Had it not been for all the rain, we would have loved to spend some time on the beach or in the pool. I would rate this a 3++ star at this time due to limited accommodation due to the virus lock down, otherwise 4+ stars.

Super deluxe! We stayed in room #1 and it was huge with a beautiful view of the bay. The bed (there were 2 queen-sized beds in the room) was the most comfortable we had slept in in a very long time. There was a table for 6 which was really handy when we were both busy with computer work. It had a nice kitchen with full-sized refrigerator, microwave/convection oven and electric cooktop. It had a sofa near the large TV (you could also watch the TV from the bed if you wanted), and fast wifi. The pool was beautiful and there were plenty of lounge chairs around the pool, on the private beach, and in the grass under the shade. Betsy took great care of us and made a couple of nice dinners for us, answered lots of questions, and loaned us bikes to get around on. It was a fantastic stay that I can heartily recommend.
The only improvement that I can think of would be an overhead light or lamp with a switch right by the door for coming back in the dark.

I've never been to a hotel or resort where the owner/manager kept their dogs/pets in what appears to be the lobby/lounge/bar/restaurant area. Every time we entered that area the dogs would bark and growl at us, very terrifying. The owner would then proceed to scream at the dogs in an attempt to quiet them down, it never worked.
We were scheduled to stay 3 nights, only stayed two as the bed in our room was absolutely terrible, not sure how old the mattress was but we had to try and sleep on the outer edge of the mattress, the middle would sink down so deep it felt like we were about to fall through, two nights of that and we had serious back pains and no sleep.
We checked out early on day three and shared the feedback with the manager, not surprise but she offered no words, just a blank stare, very weird and unusual.
Needless to say we will not be staying at this hotel on any return trips to Corozal. Try Tony's Inn and Beach resort, this is just down the road from Almond Tree, we did not stay at Tony's Inn but had dinner there two nights and it was amazing, we also got a tour of the facilities from the manager and will be staying there in the future.

I would recommend overall hospitality training for the manager and staff at Almond
Tree, especially in the customer service area.
Please do some research before staying at this hotel.

Thank you for taking time to review and we apologize for your dissatisfaction in our service. We will look into the issue of the mattress and try our best to upgrade ASAP. We had never had complaints of this before but your words have enlightened us. Our manager by nature is a quiet person but sweet person I am sorry that your experience with her was unusual. We will definitely look into getting more training for the staff and hope we can somehow satisfy all future customers.

So, my husband, 6 year old daughter, and myself showed up at the resort. I was told it was an adults only resort. Then after asking questions was told that only 12 and older were allowed. So I said ok I am able to leave my child with my mom who lives near by. She then proceeds to tell me that the hotel is for guest only. So I said well technically I am a guest since I was going to book the night before on priceline.com with no issues but decided to go and see the place for myself and book in person. “Betsy” she said her name was but probably gave me a fake name. As a Belizean American who was visiting northern Belize for the first time I was very disappointed. I was vacationing and wanted to know more about my own country. I don’t know if she was just following orders from American hotel owners but either was it was a terrible experience feeling like your kind in not welcomed at these resorts. Yes I am black creole so I guess if I was white Belizean it would make things better for them. Take your money somewhere else where your business will be appreciated.

Hello, at the time of your arrival you stated that you wanted to make a reservation for your husband, your daughter and yourself. At no point did you mention about leaving your child elsewhere, hence the reason you were told that you could not have made a reservation. We would have been happy to host you here at the hotel if you would have made a reservation for only you and your husband online. I did not provide you with a false name and was not following orders from anyone. My name is actually Mrs. Betsi Carpenter and I am the owner of this establishment. I am also a Belizean citizen and treat all my customers equally. I do not condone any type of discrimination or racism and do not define any of my customers based on their complexion. I am truly sorry if you misinterpreted my response to you as to why you were not able to make a reservation on the day you arrived. Kind regards, Betsi

I just returned from Belize. Stayed on Caye Caulker, San Pedro Ambergris Caye, and Corozal. All three of those places have good choices. Without knowing where in Belize you want to go your general . question is difficult to answer. San Pedro has the most choices and very nice places to stay with everything within walking distance. Very crowded and a bit crazy due to the amount of traffic. Do you dive? If yes San Pedro is the place to go. Caye Caulker is laid back and a taxi is BZ$5.00 to go anywhere on the island. Corozal is like stepping back in time to the '50's. And then there's the jungle.
