La Primavera Wildlife Observation Station is less than 15 min. From San Ignacio, Belize. We offer 5 bunk rooms for lodging and camping to student groups, families, and backpackers.
Close to town...but feels far away. There are 5 bunk rooms of 4 each. Price is based on each bed used.
We have many sitings of wildlife and a large tree house deck for viewing.
Dining area seats 20+..
The pool and air conditioned rooms are great for the Belize heat, and the outdoor patio/restaurant area overlooking the pool were wonderful for anytime from breakfast to happy hour cocktails.
... the pool, the Iguana Conservation Project tour, the Medicinal Plants tour, the restaurant's delicious food and cocktails, and the proximity to town (walking distance to downtown restaurants and Cahal Pech).
Our visit at La Primavera Wildlife gave us the most unforeseen and unbelievable experience! Not only were we met by friendly people with knowledge and a desire to share. We met Tim who called in monkeys by voice imitation and through imitation of various howler monkeys caused "diskussions" in the group. Tim claims an ability to talk to cats as well, and though we did not see it, we believe it upon experiencing the howler monkey meeting. Go for an unbelievable experience, and don't judge on appearance. This is an experience with substance.
This place is really off the map but you can't beat the price. We paid $10/bed and had full use of the kitchen and dining room. They offered bonfires at night and great info about local markets and terrific taco stands. Accommodations were as we expected, a step above camping with bunk rooms, but everything was clean. I thought it was a great experience for our two families to be staying off the grid, they run on solar power and you shower with rain water. Tim and Debbie were very nice, and even though Tim was injured he spent a whole day with us showing the wonders of Pine Mountain National Park, which we had never heard of. The kids LOVED jumping in the waterfalls. My only comment is that it is not really a wildlife observation center. Aside from some birds and howler monkeys to be heard we saw way more wildlife in Tikal. I think if they set up some nature walks around the property, maybe with identifying maps they could get some school groups in there to experience things. This place isn't for everyone, but luckily our group of ten are campers and in for a different experience so it worked out great.…
I would recommend a visit to experience the beauty of Cayo and wild life including howler monkeys and bird watching . Prices are great if you are on a budget or camping, Rooms are simple and clean, Friendly helpful staff. It is located 15 minutes from San Ignacio town which is also worth visiting.
For the more adventurous traveller who doesn't mind possible group accomodation, this is a unique place to experience an authentic jungle stay on a limited budget. We had the pleasure of hearing the howler monkeys in the night and early morning. Thanks to our attentive host Tim (Skinny) for the heads-up on what the howler monkeys sound like! He was very attentive helping us get our bearings, travel priorities and get around when needed. Wi-fi is not always on but available "as needed". The "jungle walk" was very informative / interesting. An environmentally friendly lodge in harmony with its natural surroundings. Lots of great birding opportunities!
I stayed here again last week. It is such a great place for my son to run around and explore. Tim was a great host, and arranged for all our trips, tours, outings and adventures. He was a wealth of information and very entertaining. Such a relaxing vacation, I definitely recommend it!
