Highly recommended! Very friendly staff who makes the getaway experience even more amazing. If you’re thinking of taking your special person somewhere secluded, then Ka’ana Resort is the place to visit.
Our stay at Ka’ana was exactly what we wanted in a vacation. It’s a beautiful property with a huge garden/farm that grows almost everything for the restaurant & bar. And the staff is more than happy to give tours of the garden (and go pick fresh mint there for your mojito). We had a great room with a screened-in patio, which was perfect for doing (naturally) hot yoga. Expect a lot of iguanas hanging around…they’re not very shy, but seemed mostly friendly. The whole staff was wonderful, and always had time to chat with us & make sure that we were totally happy & satisfied. The star of the show though was the new chef Miguel. Wow is he amazing!! Everything we ate was so incredible. I’ve never been so full but I refused to let any bite go uneaten. He’s so passionate about what he does and would share with us everyday what he was preparing & what he got from the garden. His food tastes like a grandmother’s wisdom. I would suggest literally the entire menu. We also did some of the tours (Mayan ruins & the zoo), and I’m so glad we booked this with the hotel & had their guides with us. They were the absolute best! So knowledgeable and so fun, with lots of stories to share. They also took us to eat at their favorite local spots which was a really cool experience. We left feeling relaxed, inspired, and with full bellies :)…
We stayed at the Ka’ana for the last leg of our trip. We had room 4 and our friends were in room 3. The staff was amazing. We were able to text them on Whats App whenever we needed something and they delivered. One night my girl had an ear ache and they brought me Tylenol at 4 am. The outdoor had an amazing tub and shower: I showered outside, under the rain. It was amazing. The rooms were clean and had turn down service. They would leave us daily deserts. The restaurant had amazing food and service. We did have a car so we stopped by in town to eat as well. We enjoyed our stay. My only suggestion would be to add an outdoor couch so that one can sit outside and chat or have some coffee. I would recommend this hotel.
One of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. It's a boutique hotel but has so much to offer. In my opinion it easily beats many of the five star hotels in the US and Mexico. The whole staff is like a family and goes above and beyond. The breakfast and drinks are really really good. I have to try the coffee stuffed Jack. Our kids program to help out it was their home and the staff took care of them. Love the organic vegetable garden and animals on site. Kaana made our Belize trip special!
Amazing staff and grounds. An oasis. Everyone is friendly and you will feel immediately at home. We had a private plunge pool which was nice. But it rained most of the time, which coincidentally attracted the loudest frogs ever that swim and make noise at night. Not the resorts fault at all since you are in the jungle. But it would be better to not have a private pool if it’s raining and no why to tell what the weather will be before you arrive. Beyond the animal noises no complaint’s whatsoever. Food is great and made on premises, late night snacks provided. We did a Tikal tour with them and it’s worth the premium price, better guide, personal, and unforgettable experience. So glad this was our base camp for western Belize. It is about a 2 hour drive from the international airport. So expect some driving. And it is not close to San Ignacio town proper with not really any delivery places in town so you are kinda stuck eating the higher priced restaurant. But it is good, so we were pleased. Would highly recommend if going to Tikal and want to stay on the Belize side.…
I wish I was taking the time to write a five star review for this resort. My partner and I were incredibly excited about staying at the resort and using it as a base for all of the activities in the area. There were some great things about the resort but ultimately we left feeling a sting of disappointment for what was billed as a five star experience. The bartenders were great and the drinks were fresh and inventive. Many of the drinks incorporated items grown right on the property. The restaurant wait staff were also friendly and accommodating. We ate breakfast at the main restaurant most mornings and were happy with the fresh fruit, yogurt and Belizean breakfasts. There were some hits and misses on dishes in the main restaurant for dinner. We ended up opting for the bar menu most nights that we didn't eat in town. On the food and drink side I would recommend trying the sweetcorn coolatta from the bar and the tamale trio (some of the best tamales I've ever had). The rooms were clean and the grounds crew did a great job at keeping the resort looking neat and fresh. There are plenty of five star reviews for the resort so hopefully our experience is an exception. Where we felt things went downhill were mostly related to the front desk and overall communication from the resort. We had a smooth check in (or so we thought) but then were contacted by the front desk later that night to discuss our booking which resulted in multiple trips and frustration to talk it through. (not exactly what I wanted to be dealing with after a long day of travel) We had written confirmations for our bookings and eventually they were able to work out a solution that kept us in the same room for the duration of our stay. We had even done our due diligence before the trip and emailed to make sure our reservation and bookings were squared. We also had communication issues related to our trip to Tikal. We had booked the trip with the front desk and were told we could move it to a different day in the event of inclement weather. The night before it looked like rain so we asked to move it to the following day. We were contacted by the front desk the next morning and told we needed to go that day or else we would forfeit the cost of the trip and that it couldn't be moved to a different day. The resort also hosted a gala one night in the main bar restaurant area that no one told us about. Part of the restaurant was still open to guests but if we had known there was a large event happening that night we would have made arrangements for dinner elsewhere in town. We also had issues related to receiving the final bill at checkout. We were charged for multiple trips using the resort transfer that we didn't take (we took a private taxi and paid the driver directly) as well as spa services that we never received (we didn't even use the spa). All of the frustration with getting the bookings sorted out and the following sequence of missed connections and mishaps just sort of cast a cloud over our stay and we felt like there was little to no effort by the resort to try and make it right. The guest experience just left a lot to be desired. I can't speak more highly of Belize and the Belizean people. It's a beautiful country and the people were friendly and welcoming. There are plenty of ruins and activities in the area to justify a stay inland and you should definitely make the trip.…
Minus 1 star for mediocre onsite restaurant. Waitstaffs and open air restaurant vibe were excellent but food was bland and uninteresting. I had a dinner & 3 breakfasts there. I repeated the breakfast meals only because it was included, & I was able to pre-order the day before. Pre-ordering really help since it takes 30-45 minutes to get your food otherwise. We had ordered 3 steak and egg for the 1st breakfast and only the eggs were edible. All 3 steaks were chewy-rubbery and had almost a rancid taste. Needless to say, none of us ate the steaks after the first 2 bites. We stayed with the safer choice of oatmeal and the stuff fry jacks after that. Portions were generous but we wasted food because nothing was especially tasty. Minus the 2nd star because the property did not live up to its expensive rate with direct booking. I was charged $2731 USD for 3 nights & 2 casitas. The rooms were basic and did not look like the website pictures. One safe did not work & the 2nd safe ran out of battery the 2nd day, requiring me to wait in the room while handyman replace the batteries. There were tiny little white bugs around the counter above the mini-refrigerator. I did not put my items on counter space or touching walls to avoid transporting any unwanted passengers. I did not report the buggy issue since bugs are to be expected in a tropical clime and there were only about 5 dozen bugs scurrying about. The water pressure was low and tepid for the outdoor tub and shower. It was not relaxing to soak in a tub of lukewarm water while trying to commune with nature. Thank goodness the indoor shower only has the low pressure issue. Some of the pool loungers are stained & has rips with the stuffing visible. The pool was tiny and the water was cloudy, hopefully from over-chlorination and nothing else. Cleaning staff was awesome & the room was cleaned twice a day. I drove 5 min to the Rumor Resort next door and gave them a bag of 25 articles for washing at 2PM & requested a 6PM pickup. They were glad to do it for $10USD. I did not even enquired at Ka'ana since I had read in a review that the resort charges $3-5 USD per piece. This brings me to my next point. You need a car when staying at Ka'ana otherwise you are at their mercy regarding food and laundry. It is outside of San Ignacio. Luckily, it is very simple to drive in Belize. You only have a handful of highways that are 1 way in each direction, making navigation around the country simple. There are very few cars on the road since gas is about $6.5/G and minimum wage is $1.65/h. There are frequent speed humps so you can't race anywhere.Going above 10mph over the higher speed bumps will launch you with a rather jarring landing. Even driving on unpaved roads to the San Ignacio garden, to meet up with our guide at the ATM, or to the Coxcomb Jaguar Preserve were not problematic in the 4 wheel drive. I think a teen with a learner permit can handle these roads. I am not an adventurous driver & would not attempt to drive in Bangkok or would only reluctantly drive in NYC. Don't expect luxury at Ka'anna. It was a poor choice but Cha Creek was sold out when I booked 1 month in advance. Luckily, my 2 other bookings for San Pedro & Hopkins were less expensive but were 5/5.…
The resort is both stunning and cozy. We are a family of 4 (Mom, Dad, Big sis 16, Little bro 13) and stayed in the adjoining Casita rooms with 2 queen beds in each. The rooms are elegant, bathrooms (in - and outside) were great, they are well air conditioned and the beds and sheets were wonderful. The staff in the resort were courteous and attentive and Andy - our tour guide for the zipline and cave tubing tour was fabulous! I highly recommend him. My only gripe is about the slow service at the restaurant. We had breakfast and dinner for 3 days (the food is excellent!). The waiter staff were all polite and friendly enough, but service was slow and sporadic. Breakfast took an hour on our day of check out. The wine we chose for our dinner one evening arrived well after our appetizers. The amuse bouche were entirely missed one evening and were served after the appetizers another evening. If only that would be improved, they'd have 5 stars in a heartbeat.…
At Ka’ana, i had an extraordinary time. The nature, pool, and food made were very significant aspects during my time there. The service offered by the employees was very nice, as it felt they enjoyed there job. The food was unique and tasty. My time there was outstanding; I will surely recommend the hotel
When we stay in the rainforest we generally stay at Sleeping Giant Lodge but we decided to spend the last 2 nights of this trip at Ka’ana just to experience something new. The property is “nice” and everything works, but after our times at Sleeping Giant this property is just not that impressive. The rooms are sort of basic and there is nothing to do on site. It is a hotel rather than a resort. We had booked one of their master suites with an outdoor plunge pool and shower which were both nice. But while showering you can see the barbed wire security fence sticking above the wood fence. Making the wood fence a foot taller would have hidden the eye sore of the barbed wire. Also it was unseasonably hot and the restaurant was not running their AC despite the service staff continually apologizing to us for the uncomfortable heat. The team is definitely a stand out here though! The service is great and they truly care about taking care of your needs. The restaurant has excellent food as well! We would stop here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner but unfortunately the plain rooms and simple property mean we would not choose to stay overnight here again.…
