This fantastic accommodation is located close to San Ignacio, a quick cab ride or walk away. I was blown away by the fresh farm-to-table meals and drinks, the layout of the lodge within a broadleaf forest, the superb concierge and wait staff, the evening entertainment and,of course, the room itself. I HIGHLY recommend this place for solo travelers or groups, as they have huts and rooms that can accommodate both. I had a booking issue with a tour for the next morning and the staff worked overtime to find me a last minute alternative! I was extremely impressed! Note: There is no bar on site and they observe "Quiet hours" between 9pm and 7am.

We spent 3 nights here as a base camp as we explored the town and area around San Ignacio. It looked nice on the travel sites and was rated as a 3 star accommodation. It's a $5USD cab ride to/from town. The grounds were nice, but we were disappointed with our standard room. Pros: There was hot water, a fan, air conditioning (which we did not try), it was clean enough, and a nice shared deck space. The staff was also helpful with calling taxis or making dinner reservations. Cons: the room was more basic than expected, the walls were so thin we could hear our neighbors' normal conversations, and the room was slightly run down. Signs for quiet hours were posted, but no one was enforcing them as party-ers came back in the middle of the night and were very loud on several occasions. It was more of a "hostel" atmosphere, although the cabanas may have been nicer. We were on our honeymoon and wanted/expected something different based on reviews, descriptions, and pictures of the lodge. Our biggest complaint comes from the restaurant. The lodge advertises accommodating special dietary needs, which is very important to us. We ate there our first night. Prior to our arrival they asked us about our special needs, and we emailed them a list. We also discussed our needs upon our arrival and with the server (as we were instructed) when we ordered our meal. Despite our efforts, it seemed like little to no regard was paid to the needs that we had clearly communicated. Our plates contained items that we communicated we could not have. The snapper was just OK and my steak was under cooked. The meals were expensive for what you get. My wife was frustrated and left the restaurant as I waited at least 35 minutes to get the bill and run my card. The service was poor and we did not eat there again. If you have serious food sensitivities or allergies I would not trust this place to accommodate your needs. We booked our tours elsewhere. There are lots of choices for places to stay in the San Ignacio area. If we were to return we would look elsewhere.

Stayed at this lodge on our visit to San Ignacio. The lodge is located in the mountains surrounded by a lot of vegetation grown and maintained by the owners. The food is fresh and vegetables mainly grown in their garden. They have a lot of veggie and vegan options. If you are looking for 5 star comforts then this place is not for you really blends in with nature. There is lot of information regarding the vegetation grown there.

Thank you for the nice review. Yes, we have delicious food because much of it comes from our own gardens. Our guests love learning about Belize, its culture, and its flora and fauna. Our guests come to learn and experience. We enjoy what we do and the guests seem to enjoy this lovely location.

We stayed at Maya Mountain Lodge for three nights in mid February. We had a large party (5 adults, a 3-year-old, and a 1-year-old). We had contemplated the Vacation Rental for all of us, but ended up having one person stay in a separate room (Tapir) which was a good call so no one had to sleep on the futon in the common area. The vacation rental was sufficient for our needs, though I didn't love the location of it (lots of the other accommodations are nestled in the jungle, and this was right next to the parking lot and dining room--which I suppose was also somewhat convenient). The kitchen was larger than what we needed since we ate all of our meals in the restaurant, so design-wise, it would've been nicer for us to have a smaller kitchen in favor of more space to relax together in the "living room." There was a large table, which was great, but for comfortable seating there was just a small futon and a hammock going across the room, so kind of awkward for sitting and conversing. This is really not an issue, though, unless you're planning to hide out inside. Common areas, including the pool, were great for socializing. The food was really good and the kitchen was accommodating to our group's tricky dietary needs. The staff handled this graciously, even though I'm sure we weren't always easy. We organized some activities with the support of the front desk, including the ATM Cave Tour, which was fantastic. One day someone hand-drew us a map of San Ignacio so we could easily find our way to the market and on to Xunantunich. She also gave a great restaurant recommendation for Benny's. Another day, my mother-in-law took a walk/hike on the property with my young children, and a staff member who saw them head out on the trail went up to check on them after they had been gone for a while. It was nice to know there were people keeping an eye on our safety. Overall we had a great stay! Thanks Maya Mountain!

Thank you for this awesome review! We enjoy what we do and our guests love the farm-to-table program. They are welcome to pick their own lettuce and tomatoes for their salad. They find it both interesting and delicious!
