We loved Chaa Creek. Highlights include the staff, the food, the drinks (try the lemonade and rum infusions!) and the pool. Location is convenient to San Ignacio and some Mayan sites, but you never have to leave. 1 hour to ATM cave. Beautiful (though a bit rustic) grounds. Thoroughly enjoyed our time and would visit again. Not cheap, but felt like a good value all things considered.

My family and I spent four wonderful days at The Lodge at Chaa Creek in December 2021. Our experience at Chaa Creek was literally perfect from the moment we were warmly greeted at the Belize City Airport by Alexi and Mick (the owner of the lodge who was at the airport to pick up his family), until the moment we were dropped off in Placencia by Ricky (who was our guide for various excursions and had a fascinating personal story, as well as infinite knowledge of the surrounding jungle and Mayan culture). We booked a package through The Lodge at Chaa Creek that included all meals at the lodge; multiple, fascinating local excursions (Xunantunich and canoeing through the caves at Barton Creek were particularly memorable); transportation to and from the airport; and accommodations at a sister property (Chabil Mar) in Placencia (where we spent our last several days in Belize). The package was definitely the way to go – both in terms of ease and cost effectiveness -- and we wouldn’t have changed a thing about our itinerary. It is impossible to capture how special The Lodge at Chaa Creek is without experiencing it oneself. The grounds were astounding; the craftsmanship of the buildings was remarkable; the food was fresh and delicious (all of the restaurant staff, including our primary waiter, Nelson, were wonderful); and the owners and all of the employees we interacted with exuded warmth, respect for one another, and a shared love of the natural surroundings – contributing to an impressive organizational culture and exceptional overall experience. The Lodge at Chaa Creek is truly exceptional. I can’t recommend it highly enough, and I can’t wait to go back.

We wanted a lush rainforest with hiking, nature and animal encounters. Chaa fulfilled everything we were looking for. We were able to walk, canoe and even take a UTV on property. The food, attention to detail and the kindness of every staff is amazing. We are thankful and appreciative for a great stay!

Within hours before we were supposed to arrive at Chaa Creek, my minor son received a positive result on a Covid test. Chaa Creek will not work with us to reschedule our trip and is keeping several thousands of dollars we paid for lodging and all meals for 5 people. We asked for a partial credit toward future travel (I didn’t expect a refund), but they indicated it isn’t their issue. I agree it isn’t, but every other place we were staying and using (lodging in San Pedro, air travel, expeditions, etc.) is working with us. Completely disappointed in Chaa Creek’s response. Please make sure your travel insurance covers this issue (our insurance didn’t). :(

A wonderful lodge in the jungle with plenty of activities including trails, kyaking, bird watching, a wonderful spa, large swimming pool and good food and service. The staff went out of the way to look after the whole family, we would definitely recommend this.
