We left the Lodge March 8th after an amazing 3 nights and we have talked about going back every.day.since. The staff was SO friendly, the food was delicious, it was the calmest I have felt in a decade. My sister and I lounged for hours at the pool while my husband hiked all the trails. There was something to do for everyone and we all met up at the bar in the evening! My family (mom, dad, two daughters, and a son and law) rented rooms 16 and 17. They were next to each other and each had 2 queen beds. There were three showers in each room! Why doesn't everywhere have that kind of shower ratio?? We can't wait to come back!

My family and I have just returned from 12 magical days at Chaa Creek! The hospitality, grounds and staff are incredible, words cannot describe how much Belize and Chaa Creek exceeded our expectations. We were completeley spoilt for choice in regards to activities offered! From zip lining, to lazy river tubing and canoeing, to guided walks and horseriding around Chaa Creeks beautiful grounds. A must see is Xunantanich - the Mayan ruins. It's not too far from Chaa Creek at all and it's truly breathtaking. Make sure to visit the Spa too! Honestly I had the best massage I've ever had. Not only are the surroundings just out of this world but the massage itself was incredibly relaxing and really helpful to my problem areas. I desperatley wished the therapist would move to the UK! The menu changes daily and we were never short of new tasty delights which has a good variety for all dietary requirements. In regards to the bar, they infuse local spirits daily with gorgeous fruit to create wonderful cocktails. Our favourite - Jalapeno & Pinneapple Tequila, it makes the best Maragarita ever! We've even tried to re-create this back in UK upon our return All in all, this was truly a magical experience for us, we were extremely sadden to leave but really hope to return in the near future! A huge thanks to Mick & Lucy and all of the wonderful staff at Chaa Creek who certainly now feel like a part of the family.

For several years we had planned a 2 week tour to Belize, including the up-scale resort called The Lodge at Chaa Creek. Needless to say, we excited about our trip and looked so much forward to it. However, things turned out differently, and that was well before the COVID-19 crisis actually made it impossible to travel. I have never been so infuriated with a travel establishment in my 40+ years of travelling the globe. This is what happened. We booked the exclusive Spa Villa for our group of 6 via the online system on June 20th, 2019. I immediately noticed that I didn't get the usual e-mail confirmation, so I mailed the Lodge. They then confirmed receipt of my deposit and I confirmed the names of the guests. The agent confirmed that I should have received an automatic confirmation, but they were unable to send me one now (manually). But I had the booking number, dates and names confirmed, so we should be OK, or so I thought. I mailed again in February 2020 to ask if we should pay the balance upfront or on-premise. The immediate response back was that “Our records show that you called to cancel the reservation and your credit card was refunded for US .. on September 9th, 2019.” My reaction was disbelief, as I had never called and never wanted to cancel. I then checked my credit card transaction, and indeed, there was a credit that I hadn’t noticed, nor expected. I then asked for proof of my call. The story then changed to “I am so sorry, but our records show that you cancelled your reservation online on July 8th, 2019. We were not aware of this until you call in September asking about your refund.” So this is even more mysterious. They claim that I, a days after reservation, had cancelled online (as far as I know this requires a link that I should have received in the confirmation e-mail I never got – and they know), but then their booking system didn’t reimburse me automatically (what kind of system is that ?), so I should then have waited a couple of months and then called. Wow. I just never canceled, online or otherwise, and I never called for the refund I did not expect. I still asked for details of alleged calls, time of day, as well as their procedure to cancel online; no details, no answers. If I’d been someone suffering from dementia, perhaps there was a chance the (changing) story produced by the Lodge was true. But I’m actually a regular traveler for work and leisure in a senior management position. Anyone can make a mistake, even a popular destination like the Lodge. But the quality of the response, when mistakes do happen, is what distinguishes an establishment of class from a fly-by-night operation. As management did not take our troubles seriously - they offered inadequate alternatives with modest price reduction and no recognition of own mistakes – I can only start wonder if we were actually kicked out to allow more influential guests to have our rooms. We will never stay at the Lodge and we will recommend our friends to keep safe distance. All the best.

We absolutely loved our stay at Chaa Creek. Staff were warm, welcoming and attentive. The cave tour was phenomenal. Our room had a lovely view of the rainforest. We saw howler monkeys several times in the trees at the lodge (and heard them as well :)). There are tons of trails in the rainforest for walking and exploring. I saw orchids! The food was so good. We had to leave unexpectedly due to the COVID19 virus situation and the staff were great in getting us organized and on our way to the airport.

We found this a great location for several day trips. One was to Tikal and another to a caving experience. The rooms were clean and beautiful and I loved the out door shower. The howling monkeys didn't wake me up but once awake I had to record their symphony of howls in the early morning.
