We were very leery about taking our first trip since COVID. Travel was much easier than expected and felt very safe. I like that Belize requires COVID testing for entry. There are very few cases in the country. Staff and patrons adhered well to masking and sanitation protocols... and we still had LOTS of fun! The resort was amazing and everyone in the family enjoyed a relaxing and reinvigorating get away. Food was amazing. Monkeys, spectacular animal and cultural experiences. Wish we could have stayed even longer. Everything was taken care of, easy and seamless from start to finish. Well worth it.

Our room overlooked the jungle and Macal River and we were serenaded by the sounds of birds and monkeys. The staff greeted us every day with smiles wanted to please. The jungle excursions they offered were so exciting, adventurous and extremely safe. I look forward to going back.

Everything from check-in to room service to dining to activities was stellar. We felt very safe and comfortable with their COVID protocols. This is a lush property with manicured lawns and tropical gardens flowing over 500 pristine acres carved out of the unruly jungle. We saw a family of Howler Monkeys pass by our deck one evening. Astonishing. The accommodations are luxurious thatched roof villas with wrap around decks and ours had a private pool. The staff was outstanding - everyone was friendly and accommodating. We went horse riding through the jungle one day and took an ATV tour through the jungle on another day. The hotel offers on-site activities and adventures. We will definitely return!

My wife and I were here from Jan 1-5, 2021. It is a 5 star resort with an authentic, intimate and tropical feel. It felt like we were in Jurassic Park. Lush, gorgeous natural landscaping, impeccably maintained facilities, infinity edge pool and amazing food. The service was amazing--everyone knew your name and were so friendly. Marco the bar tender was great and our tour guides (Alexi and Darren) were so knowledgeable. They followed very safe COVID-19 protocol from start to finish. The shuttle from the airport started with temperature checks (after we cleared customs with our negative tests), as well as lots of hand sanitizer as well as masks (always). The resort and rooms were impeccable and we wore masks pretty much everywhere (even at the parks and historical sites). This is a small resort so not many people and lots of room to spread out anyway. Belize is a tourist economy so the extra caution is well warranted. We felt comfortable our entire stay. The food was amazing!! The drinks were great and they even had craft beer from Hobbs Brewing. The Belikin beer is a solid local option too. BOTTOM LINE: BELIZE IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS AND CHAA CREEK IS THE BEST IF YOU WANT AN AMAZING TROPICAL JUNGLE VACATION!!

The Lodge at Chaa Creek is in the jungle along the Macaul River in western Belize about a two hour drive from Belize City. The setting is stunning and lush. Animal life is abundant. The service is personal and 5 star meals are equal to many places I have stayed at much higher prices. There were a variety of choices to accommodate any taste. Activities include visits to Mayan ruins, ziplining, cave tubing, traveling on an enormous pontoon through a beautiful lake with waterfalls, visiting an on-site butterfly farm, horseback riding—more activities than our group could do in 5 days. We were there in the cool season December through February. Most rooms are not air conditioned and I was surprised how comfortable I was. Our group included college students and older adults, however we saw many young children and they could safely have the freedom to roam everywhere. I want to return with my young grandchildren. I felt safer from COVID there than in the US—Very stringent cleaning and health requirements including negative COVID tests prior to arrival. It is described as an eco lodge but much more luxurious than the eco lodges I have seen. If you want air conditioning, choose the modern Ix Chel villas. I was very comfortable in a Macaul River Suite. A secluded, ‘get away from it all” vacation for any age group!
