....as their website says, it's not a property for all travellers. If you typically stay at Ritz, this may not be for you. If you want your vacation to be mellow and hang out by the infinity pool all day, this may not be for you. If you don't want to interact with others and rather by by yourself with a book, this may not be for you. With all that being said, Caves Branch Jungle Lodge was almost everything we were hoping it would be, as my family really enjoyed the experience. The Property - 5 stars Absolutely beautiful large property really well maintained admist the jungle while boasting a wonderful botanical garden, and really nice swimming pool where guest congregated after a day's event, a nice terraced eating area, and well spaced out lodges, tree houses, etc. Nice reception area, and we felt truly like we were in the middle of the jungle. The night time was super different for most of us. All the insects/animals/jungle creature can be heard. The first night, my kids were not used to it. By the 2nd night, they slept well and hearing the howler monkeys was a unique experience. The lodge/treehouse - 4.5 stars Spacious, nice spaces. We were only in a lodge for a family of 4 that fit us good enough. Large bathrooms, and had an outdoor shower too! Good sized covered patio with seating and a hammock. Do note that the rooms are only screened in with no windows letting in the air. There is a ceiling fan and a space A/C unit that help with the heat/humidity but since open air, you will need to adjust to the open air which may not be for everyone. For us, it was part of the experience. The food/beverages - 3 stars Overall, it was solid. We enjoyed the breakfast and dinner times hanging out. We got the all-inclusive package. It was definitely on the pricey side, but there really isn't a lot of choices to go out of the property for meals. We definitely ate and drank pretty well. The cocktails included with the package was overall good as well all took advantage of it and enjoyed it. My family overall is easy going with respect to eating, and they provided 2 choices of main entrees. Service - 5+ Stars Absolutely impeccable service from EVERYONE. One of the nicest experiences we've had across the board. People were so nice and attentative. Of course, no property is perfect, but the people really worked hard and tried the best. The one confusing part is the tipping system. Having read Tripadvisor reviews, I knew you could opt to tip when checking out which I did. They give you a sheet of paper that allows you to outline exactly how you want people to be tipped. I was assuming like most places, they have some system to pool the tips and divide it up. However, they said you can be as specific as the exact person you wish to tip and amount. There were just too many people to specify plus I didn't want to skip those who were "behind the scenes" so I just categorized the tips by department with special section for the guides. Tours - 5 Stars Absolutely the coolest and craziest tours I've done. The Waterfall Cave tour is unique, adventurous, and exciting. I was hesitant but my teenage kids wanted to do it. We were glad we did. Climbing 6-7 small waterfalls then jumping off from them into a pool 1+ mile deep in a cave seems quite unnatural for humans to do! :-) The cave tubing also was a fun day. My wife and kids did the black hole drop and said it was a super tough, hot hike up, but rapelling down was nerve-racking but glad they did it. Skip the ziplining as that was rushed and overrated. Note that due to rain, some of the river/caving activities might be canceled so have a plan around changes the morning of. Overall - 5 Stars Unique, special property and experience. If you want something different and have an adventourous group, Caves Branch is worth a few days in Belize! With the all-inclusive, it's on the slightly expensive side, but based on the property which is stunning, the terrific service, and the unique adventure tours, we are glad we stayed and experienced Caves Branch.

Honestly, I expected more. I was not super impressed. If you're not on an outing there isn't a ton to do. There's the pool and a little trail you can walk around. The pool gets packed with people since that's really the only thing to do. I was SUPER annoyed with their all inclusive food package. Spoiler alert-it isn't all inclusive. You get a small lunch on your outing, come back starving. Want some snacks to hold you over until dinner? You have to pay! The snacks were the best food too. Also, not all drinks are included either. The dinners were not family friendly. I asked for pasta one night since I don't like seafood and the guy thought I had lost my mind asking for something simple like pasta. They said no. My daughter was NOT going to eat what was on the menu one night and I asked for French friends instead. I was charged for French fries because it's off the snack menu (the one I mentioned earlier) even though she didn't get a meal at dinner. I felt that they were not accommodating. So that was frustrating. I told them twice we were celebrating my husbands birthday and to ask for something special with dinner. They told me they'd have a private table set up and decorated. We get to dinner that night, nothing. Just our normal table. The people who came around to book excursions were not friendly and rather pushy and rude. I had emailed multiple times and didn't get answers back. One was confirmation I was going to get picked up with our flight times. If I ever return to Belize I won't stay here. Between the food and the lack of things to do, I felt that it wasn't worth it. It's a neat place. But just didn't WOW me. I had also just came from a beach resort who went above and beyond and maybe they just set the bar too high.

We recently spend 3 great nights at Caves Branch. I highly recommend the lodge if you are looking for a nice place to stay that features a wide range of adventure. It was my wife and three kids (13, 11, 10) and we were looking for a options to spend time on the mainland and stumbled on this place and could not be happier. It was exactly what we were looking for and Caves Branch made things very easy. We also worked with them to set up our accommodations on Ambergris to make a great vacation package and turnkey solution. They took a lot of the stress out of planning. We had a two bedroom treehouse and it was perfect for our family. The kids stayed downstairs and loved all the noises of the jungle as they went to bed and my wife and I enjoyed the second floor and an amazing view out over the river and mountains each morning with coffee. The rooms were open air but the fans and AC units provided enough cooling to keep us very comfortable. I do wish there were more plugs in the rooms and would suggest bringing a power strip if you have lots of things to charge up overnight. The food options were great and they offered a lot of variety while we were there. You get two options each night for the main course and we did not go hungry. The all-inclusive package include drinks which was nice especially when the kids found out that it included Fanta. The grounds were great and we enjoyed the pool, wading in the river, or strolling the gardens after our excursion each day before dinner. The excursions are the features and they do them well! We started with the Waterfall Cave which was unbelievable. It was unlike anything that could be done in the States. If you can only do one trip this is the one to do and one we will be talking about for years to come. It will make you sweat but the formations in the cave, the solitude, and the adventure are unmatched. I felt like we were in Goonies or something climbing through passages, swimming through pools, climbing waterfalls, and jumping of ledges into the river. All three of my kids did great and pushed through any fears they had. It is going to be hard for them to ever find a cave so wild and unspoiled again. Ivan and Jesus were our guides and they were great and we felt very safe the whole time. They even made us a candlelit dinner deep in the cave. We did a night hike with Ishmail that was a lot of fun. He was great at spotting wildlife include sleeping birds and lizards, a kinkajou, and lots of frogs, spiders, and other critters. It was a great experience walking the jungle at night under the stars. Then the next day we did the Mayan ruins which was also great. The guide, Arnold, was very knowledgeable and gave us a great history lesson as we toured the grounds and felt like we got a great understanding of the culture and how the cities once operated. My kids were impressed and the one that thought she was going to be bored actually admitted to how great it was. We stopped at a good lunch spot for some local fare before heading back to the lodge. On our way out the next day we had a later flight to Ambergris (arranged by Caves Branch) so we set up a zip line and zoo stop. Christian, who also picked us up from the airport when we arrived took us to both and made sure the guides knew our timeline to get us an enjoyable but on time experience. It was a great add on and really made us feel like we had a whole extra day on the mainland. Caves Branch really made it simple from the airport transfers, excursion package, setting up flights to and from the island and finding great accommodations on the island for us. I am sure there are more luxurious places to stay that pamper you but this was exactly what we were looking for. The other people we met were great and the dining and pool areas are very conducive to either keeping to yourself or interacting with others which made it a lot of fun. We met some great families and couples traveling together. Great spot for family fun!

Our stay at Caves Branch was somewhat disappointing. Our treehouse was spectacular and we all LOVED the outdoor shower (especially on the day the howler monkeys took up residence in the tree immediately across from the shower!) but I had really been expecting better service and attention. Upon arriving at the resort, we were told that we would be telephoned later in the afternoon to inform us of the dinner menu (so we could make our choices in advance) and be told at what time we would be served. By 6:30 no one had called us and we were hungry so we went to the dining room. The first two people we spoke with had no idea what we were talking about and the third said we should have been called but there’d been a “mix up”. No big deal. Just seemed strange. As we were eating one of the “adventure” staff, Carlos, came to our table. He was rather short with us and definitely hurried us through our options without explaining much of anything. We decided to go horseback riding the next day. The horses were great and the scenery was stunning and we learned a lot about the local Green Acres Farm but an adventure?? Nope. This was not it. I had told Carlos we were avid riders and looking for some speed but our “wrangler” (actually a farm hand) had only been riding for two years and knew far less about riding and horses than we did!? So the entire two hours was spent WALKING. That was indeed disappointing. When I later mentioned that to Carlos, he said that the experienced wrangler didn’t speak English. Ok… so why not tell us this beforehand?? We could have chosen a different outing or agreed on cantering with our limited knowledge of Spanish and the experienced wrangler. The waitress, Tanya, was lovely and our day 2 adventure (the waterfall jumping) was amazing!! So that helped to make up for the day prior. Just wish we could have gotten our money’s worth on the adventure side of things! Also, it’s an ALL inclusive. This includes alcohol so, in my humble opinion, this attracts a certain type of tourist. As a result, we didn’t feel especially connected to or comfortable with any of the other guests. We kept to ourselves.

Caves Branch made this a memorable and super easy stress free trip. The staff here is wonderful and hardworking, and the tours are so much fun! We booked the airport transportation with them from Belize City and they were waiting right out front of the airport to drive us the hour and half down to Caves Branch. We had a jungle suite (Room 10) which was secluded and about a 3-4 min walk from the main lodge all on flat ground. The room was spacious. Just to note, there are no windows, but only screens so you get to hear everything the jungle has to offer in the middle of the night. The only a/c unit is located right above the bed, so you will need to close the curtains around the bed to keep it cool. If you do not have a box fan in your room be sure to request one (we learned this the 2nd day from another guest) to supplement the a/c and ceiling fan. It was the middle of July and we slept comfortably. I loved the outdoor shower that came with the room. We bought the all inclusive package which included meals, local alcohol and the tours. Each room has their own table assigned in the dining hall. Breakfast was a buffet every morning which was good and plenty of options. Lunch for us was consumed on the tour and included some sandwich meat, veggies, giant tortilla and some fruit. Dinner was a full service multi-course meal with a local flavor to it. All in all the food was fine. The highlight of our trip were the signature tours. Every evening the onsite guide asks what you would like to do the next day. Each onsite signature tour seemed to have plenty of availability, and I appreciated their flexibility when you wanted to make a last minute change. There were also options off site that other guest were booking like an all day trip to Guatemala to see the Tikal National Park, snorkeling trips and even an overnight camping / hiking trip. The 1st day we opted to do the Waterfall Cave Expedition which included about a mile hike into the caves and climbed over several waterfalls and then turned around and jumped off those when we got to the top to turn around. Shout out to Arnold who helped my wife down when she opted not to jump off one of them! This trip is an amazing adventure into these Mayan Caves. Be sure to bring shoes that are comfortable to hike in that are also waterproof. Your clothes and shoes will get wet and they do not dry very well overnight in the jungle. Day 2 I selected the Black Hole Drop (the wife went on the Cave Tubing). I have to say the Black Hole Drop was one of the coolest things I have ever done. We had about a 45 min hike to the top which was tough, but there were several stops along with way to rest. We then had plenty of time to catch our breath while the staff set up the rappelling equipment. As we sat there at the top I got more and more nervous…maybe even a little scared…but the guides quickly put us at ease. Mentally getting to the edge to do the drop was tough, but once you take that first step down you are transformed into an amazing experience. The thrill of the drop, the amazing views as you hang there and then just the beauty of being in the sinkhole is like nothing I can describe. I felt like I was transferred to another world or was on a movie set of Jurassic World down in the sinkhole. The hike out which includes an uphill climb, then climbing up a ladder and then the hike down was probably the toughest part of the tour. I still pumped up about this tour. It was so exhilarating, and the guides were awesome. Don’t miss the opportunity to do this once in a lifetime experience. Probably the 2nd best part of this trip after the tours was going to the pool every afternoon, having drinks and swapping stories with the other guests about their adventures for the day. I loved the community atmosphere the hotel provided as we all had awesome stories to share. The hotel also provided us transportation to Placencia which was our next stop. On the way they arranged for us to do a zipline tour at Angels Falls Xtreme Adventures that was blast. Once we got to Placencia we had some issue coordinating with the boat that was supposed to pick us up due to a big event going on in town and once again Arnold stepped up and got everything situated for us. One last thing was I realized 2 days later I left my wallet at the hotel. I contacted Lisa who we had booked the reservations through. She got back to me immediately and confirmed they did find it where I thought I had left it. She put me in touch with Geovanni in Guest Services who had the wallet delivered to Placencia a few days later. They went way out of their way to help me with this! Do not hesitate to book this hotel if you are looking for an adventurous holiday in a unique setting surrounded by a beautiful jungle and supported by a caring staff.

My family (ages 47,46,18,15) just stayed here. Mr. Anderson, if you read this, any worker who was there 7/10-7/15 should be commended. These workers were the most hardworking and friendly staff that my family and I have ever had contact with in travels. We had a blast!! The treehouse was amazing, the food and drinks were amazing, the excursions were amazing, the staff was amazing. Thank you for a wonderful family experience we will not forget.

Many other reviews have covered everything I would want to say. Key points: this is an incredible jungle glamping experience with open air screened treehouses that have ceiling fans and one air conditioner unit positioned over the main bed, weak Wi-Fi in the restaurant / pool area, all inclusive meals / drinks (local alcohol), and hard working kind staff (Carlos, Pedro, Jesus, Kenry, Christian, Edgar). We had an absolutely wonderful stay, with one of a kind tours and chance to connect with our family. Really appreciated the delicious food with enough choices for all, huge portions, and the constant availability of coffee / drinks. We arranged our jungle stay / beach stay through Caves Branch, and were grateful for the door to door service we received from all we met. We had no issues with the provided transportation, loved the towel animals and attention to detail the staff provided, and also appreciated being able to tip at the end of our stay. Agree with others: Use lots of bug repellent, Bring extra sneakers to wear on your adventures involving water as you want the grip and they won’t dry quickly, extra bathing suit, on site laundry was very helpful, loved Tikal!

What a fabulous way to kick off our first trip to Belize. From the shuttle ride from the airport (Victor was such a friendly and informative driver) to the front desk team (Gio upgraded us to a treehouse suite) and the incredible guides (Carlos, Ivan, and several others)...we felt spoiled and so well taken care of the entire time. The excursions are amazing - the cave waterfalls is a must-do. The accommodations are both rustic and elegant, and the pool and grounds are gorgeous. Definitely recommend a stay here!

Incredible experience with our 3 teenagers. The entire experience was amazing! It was so convenient to catch all the excursions on site at Cave’s Branch. Carlos runs a personable staff of trained guides that feel like a big family. Many have been working for the owner, Ian (who lives on site) for 10-20 years. They were attentive, engaging, and we felt safe from the repelling to the cave exploring and waterfalls! The tree house lodging was unforgettable and the entire staff was so friendly and attentive. All our meals happened on site which was really helpful after a day of exploring, dining is more casual and family friendly. The food was fresh and delicious and we appreciated the daily variety, each night the menu was completely different from the night before. If you want a true jungle experience, this is the place!

We were referred to stay at this resort by a dear friend who visited in 2019 and felt the place was amazing! Perhaps since the pandemic this place has suffered as many others... while planning our trip here we were reassured that the activities would be easily scheduled upon our arrival. Each time I asked via email ( even a few days earlier) I was told that arriving late would not be a factor in arranging our activities. we arrived at 630 pm and were essentially told what would be best for us the next day without an overview of the place or other activity options... and indeed our first day we had an amazing time with guides Justo and Kenri while tubing into the caves on the Caves branch owned property... after this day we were trying to figure out what was best for our family of 4 with 2 guys who wanted to do adventure activities and 2 gals who wanted to discover the local culture. We tried to view the options on line at the main area (their restaurant, no area just to lounge around except the pool where wifi is spotty) but could not open the website due to a weak wifi even in the restaurant. So I asked for a brochure and none was to be found, the main front desk manager, Gio, kept promising he would print some info for us but after the next day he finally admitted they did not have any written info... our main resource for learning about activities became other guests and our guides... the guys had another amazing day with the 3 "Armenia cousins " as guides while repelling into the black hole while the gals went to Xunantunich/Cahal Pech with guide, Arnold, who was really awful as he shared minimal knowledge about the sites and even suggested we skip Cahal Pech since it was a bit hot - he said since it was just the 2 of us we could just skip the 2nd site which was smaller: Cahal Pech is amazing and the site archeologists were full of knowledge we didn't get from Arnold- I highly recommend caves Branch spend a bit more and hire professional guides at these sites to do the tour - we received lot's of incorrect info from Arnold as we read about these sites after the tour - in addition, he was very annoying with intrusive questions ( eg. he kept asking about my ethnicity and when I said I was Indian, he assumed I was Hindu and was shocked when I said I was Muslim and bickered that being Indian and speaking Hindi means one must be of Hindu religion) during our lunch - there was no choice given as to if my daughter and I wanted to eat on our own...and he drove at nearly 90 miles per hour which was very concerning to experience as 2 solo gals in a foreign country... later he turned out to be the evening activity organizer with little to no description for the following day's activity - in fact he kept pushing the zoo-zip line tour on us when we wanted the Angels fall zip lining - kept telling us Angels fall was too expensive for us, quite judgmental - perhaps we did not fit his idea of guests who can afford this zip lining???. he also had no idea that the resort contracts with the local chocolate factory and covers the tour. Gio had to take over and arrange both the zip lining and the chocolate factory tour...only to find out when we arrived at the factory, they had no idea a reservation for tour was made. The only reason this resort gets a 4 in our book is because the guides for cave/repelling/and zip lining ( the resort contracts with Angels Falls so it's not on their website to my knowledge) were amazing along with our tree house (#20) was amazing; plus the restaurant staff were wonderful!! There was still that smell another reviewer mentioned in April 2022 along the area en route to the restaurant - I think they have leaking sewage that needs to fixed/upgraded - we had to hold our breath each time we walked to the restaurant and back! For those who want Jungle/mayan sites/river and Sea adventures at an amazing resort - try Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Resort inHopkins - a bit more $ but way worth it. we are suggesting to switch to all our friends who are planning to visit Belize.
