Remote, natural and tranquil. We spent a week there and loved it. It's a long way from anywhere so you won't drive down the road for a meal--but that's fine because the lodge provides delicious and filling "homecooked" meals by the local staff. We had tasty meals every night, hearty breakfasts every morning and were catered to at a luxury... More

We spent a week at Pooks HIll in December 2015. It was such an amazing place--truly a gem of a hotel nestled in relatively intact rainforest. The fauna was incredible. I am not a serious birder, but WOW! Such an incredible opportunity. The howler monkeys spent a night in the tree right outside our hut--for a while we thought they... More

I magical place! So much beauty and nature to explore. Wonderful bird life. Friendly and hospitable service and incredibly good food. The grounds are beautiful, with so much history and meaning to learn about. Ray was a wonderful host. I would love to visit again! We did the ATM cave trip and is was a really memorable experience - and... More

Unluckily it poured with rain almost constantly, which meant we saw no wildlife other than birds and monkeys and part of the river trail was totally flooded - perhaps not a place to risk with easily bored kids one the cusp of the rainy season (though no doubt fantastic in good weather). We'd have loved the rubber rings on the... More

Great escape to the Belizean jungle. Beautiful, private thatched cottages, communal dining, great staff. I am not a "birder" but got up in the mornings for the bird watching walks - saw a great variety including lots of Toucans. On the last night I asked on of the staff if I could see a tarantula and saw 3 in 10... More

We especially appreciated the evening dinners...Great opportunity to meet fellow travelers. We found the staff very attentive and accommodating. Food was tasty. Would recommend as great location to experience "jungle Belize."

My family absolutely loved our recent stay at Pook's Hill. It was our first trip to Belize and this was the perfect place to begin our week of new adventures. Ray, the owner, gave us a warm welcome and was always available to meet our every need. Our time with guide Mario made this place really special to all of... More

The location was excellent but you have to be fit to enjoy it. The layout would be OK in dry weather but in the rain resulted in continual wet feet. The dining facilities were poor, too many people squashed on long tables, some having to sit on stools and the queueing for dinner reminded me of Oliver Twist.

This place was extraordinary. We booked through a travel agency, so we really didn't do any research or know anything about the lodge, but it went above and beyond anything I could have imagined. We were picked up from the airport by the owner himself, who politely answered all our questions as he drove us to the airport. He didn't... More

We loved Pook's Hill. The staff made it feel like our home away from home and took care of everything we needed. Special thanks to Kate, Ray, and Mario! They make all the tour arrangements and there is lots of really fun stuff to do in the area. If you go, the ATM tour is not to be missed. Pook's... More
