Beautifully designed property and beautifully designed rooms, so tastefully decorated with vintage textiles. Each cabin feels private because of the arrangement of the rooms. Extremely generous and friendly hosts. Food is quite good. Don’t miss an opportunity to stay here!

When exploring all the amazing wonders of the Mountain Pine Ridge area, Pine Ridge Lodge is the perfect jump off spot to explore! Neil and his staff provide the most fantastic hospitality and can assist with coordinating anything you might want to do and there is so much. In addition to that, the accommodations are so cozy and with lovely local details. I can’t stress enough how incredible each and every meal was…from the delicious breakfasts/brunches to the amazing locally inspired dinners and absolutely do not miss out on his world class brick oven pizza night!!! There’s so much more to share but I strongly encourage you to go and experience it for yourself. In the meantime, we anxiously await our next trip. Cheers to Neil and his wonderful crew!

Our host, Neil, was fantastic! He was friendly and attentive to all our needs. Rooms are private cabins overlooking the beautiful pine woods forest and private stream. Lodge is close enough to San Ignacio for convenience but far enough for seclusion. There are sightings of tapirs and pumas on the property, and a waterfall within walking distance. Neil cooked all our meals, including home made wood-fired pizzas. The food was delicious and definitely a highlight of the stay. His local knowledge of the area helped us book the ATM tour with an archeologist involved In the dig. His assistants Hector and Jorge were always available to help with recommendations and booking our tours. We will be staying at the pine ridge lodge next time we come to Belize!

We stayed at Pine Ridge Lodge for spring break and had an amazing time! Great hospitality, incredible food, beautiful grounds, and Neil and Hector had awesome recommendations for must see locations and were super helpful setting things up!! The main dining room has such a cozy vibe and it’s great fun to be able to chat with both Neil and the other guests! Everyone really made us feel welcomed and cared for. Will definitely be recommending to any friends who plan to visit Belize!

It was so much better than a hotel. Niel’s food was great and the room was comfortable. Lots of places to see in the area and was a great homebase. Close to rio frio caves, caracol and the pools. Overall, it was an amazing experience!

What a great time we had. A group of 6 for a week and Neil did a great job putting up with us and making us feel like family. The rooms are very clean and super comfortable. We had the caban on the creek and what a pleasure to listen to it when going to sleep and waking up to hear that first thing. The grounds are really all natural and beautiful. Hector and the entire staff were really nice and helpful. They set up a tour with Louis for the Maya Ruin and more. We had a great day. Morgan and Maggie were our companions upon arrival and I had a blast playing with them down at the creek. ( See picture of two dogs. but don't tell them that ) The meals were excellent. We went with the Home Style serving and Neil hit the nail on the head. Every meal was spot on. It's like he knew exactly what we wanted and liked. YOU HAVE TO HAVE HIS PIZZA if you want a really good pizza. Thank You Neil, Hector, the entire staff, Morgan and Maggie for a very relaxing fun time. I needed that.

I had a fantastic experience at Pine Ridge Lodge. Neil went above and beyond to accommodate our large group, and his family was so kind. The property is beautiful and is maintained very nicely. The cabanas are well decorated and clean. The food was delectable, and the dining area was lovely. The birds kept me entertained, and the dogs were so sweet. It was really neat to be able to walk to the creek and nearby waterfall. The whole place seemed very connected with nature, which I loved. I would definitely want to come back, and I recommend it to anyone who will be staying in the Mountain Pine Ridge in Belize. Thank you Neil and family!

What a pleasant surprise Pine Ridge Lodge was. It was recommended by friends who called it 'rustic' I call it 'perfect'. It was like stepping back in time with it's quaint cabins in the pine forest next to a river. Our cabin was down by the river and was the furthest from the main house. The cabins looked newly updated with tile flooring, the bathroom had a shower with loads of hot water and looked recently tiled as well. But the bed was to die for, it was so comfy. There is no tv, telephone or wifi in the rooms. There is wifi in the main dining room but, we were so busy talking to the other guests we didn't bother. The service here was great. They really make you feel welcomed. The owners live onsite and run everything. You'll meet them at check in and they are there all the time to help with questions on what to do or just swap interesting stories. They cook all the meals too. Did I mention the homemade salsa? There is no written menu but at each meal there are a couple of options to chose from. We had breakfast and dinners there and they were all amazing. On the weekends they do pizza. I'll definitely be going back.

We stayed at Pine Ridge Lodge for 7 nights in Dec 21- Jan 22. Long enough to get a very good feel for the place. As I write this review, I noticed that the previous reviews are from before March 2020 (pre-covid). So lot of stuff may have changed since then. Our experience was mixed. Neil is a good cook and makes excellent Mayan food (which is what I had) as well as good Pizza. I especially liked his Pesto pizza, which came out crisp. We are vegetarian and Neil took good care of that aspect. Also, want to give a word of appreciation for the staff - Hector, George and Isabel, who were nice and polite. One comment about the natural surroundings is that the lodge is in an area that has been affected by forest fires and therefore vegetation is quite sparse. Surprisingly, in just a few miles on either side of the lodge, the vegetation is more green and tropical-forest like. The food was good all through except on the day before we left. That day I felt we were shortchanged and taken for granted - Neil was busy with making food for another party and it seemed like we were just served a heap of roughly cut cabbage on top of the empanada. Quite a departure from the finely cut veggies I usually saw on the plate. While the main dish was usually good, the service was sorely lacking. I can't remember a single meal in the 7 days when I did not have to ask for water. It was never served with the food nor were we asked if we wanted it. I always had to get up in the middle of the meal and find someone and make the request, since there was often nobody waiting at the tables. Also sometimes, the table was not cleaned after meals and it felt like we were not properly attended to. Not to mention the fact that there was a 10% service charge added to our overall food bill at the end of the stay. Another thing was that there were no published prices for the food in the restaurant. Nor did Neil tell us the cost of the meals or drinks. And we were a bit too polite to ask. We basically trusted that it would be OK. Each of the meals cost USD $15/person, which was only the main dish. Dessert or Entree was extra. Any case, we didn’t have an option to eat anywhere else given that there are no food options at all nearby (except for Blancaneaux lodge) which is a high-end place. So if you don't have your own transportation, your only choice is to have meals at Pine Ridge. The accommodation was alright. It was a fairly tight space with two beds in a small room (no kitchen). My wife felt the beds were sagging in the middle. It was decorated well with Mayan masks and clothing on the walls. It is OK for couple of nights but not something to stay in for longer. The grounds are kept well but there is a ton of mosquitoes in the grounds as well as in the rooms. My wife and kids got a ton of bites. We used a repellant but also asked for Coils in our room. They did it the first two nights, but we had to ask for it each time. We just dropped it after that. Mosquitoes and/or sandflies are not unusual in Belize, but usually the hosts take steps to keep them off the rooms and dining/sitting areas. I would definitely not recommend coming to this lodge if you don't have your own car. We decided to not rent a car and were therefore dependent on Neil for any trips we wanted to make. We discovered that there is nothing to do within walking distance. In retrospect, in our communications with Neil prior to landing in Belize, Neil was not forthcoming in setting expectations about the lack of options in the absence of your own car. We did two trips that Neil organized - One to Caracol and another to Barton Creek. I thought the pricing was steep for what was offered. We paid USD $125 per adult for the trip to Caracol. The guide was OK and the car was somewhat unreliable. Basically the pricing is similar to what a mid-level resort in the area might charge (Cahal Pech or Hidden Valley) but without the value that those resorts offer in their trips. So I felt cheated, if I am being completely honest. Overall, in this context, I feel that the place was expensive. At USD $125 a night plus USD $90 for meals per day (husband, wife plus two young kids), it didn't feel like we got value at all. We stayed at a very nice ocean-front resort at Key Caulker in a nicely furnished room (with a well furnished kitchen) with top notch service for $200 a night. Compared to that, staying at Pine Ridge Lodge felt like it was poor value for money. One of the reviews mention a swimming hole on the property. That thing is now a breeding ground for mosquitoes and not something to swim in. I suggested to Neil that he should stop the damming the water so that the hole does not pose a health risk and water can flow freely again. Any case, if you stay at Pine Ridge lodge, ask for an all-inclusive deal to remove the ambiguity around costs. And come in your own car. Unless you want to pay the steep prices for the tours. I would say more than 2 nights at this lodge is an overkill.

Thanks for the review,we always appreciate constructive reviews..Were very concerned about your stay with us,shame things didnt work out for you..I feel its incredible unfair as we really tried our best for you.Shame the lodge and surrounding area wasnt to your liking....I suoose a forest isnt as green as a jungle but its clearly stated where we are....Im dissapointed you didnt have the character to let us know things wernt going well for you,we had no idea...As youd had such a bad time on the islands before coming here we really tried for you, thats why we gave you a free upgrade for 1 night in the vip cabana, maybe that was my mistake. As you booked i told you the room wasnt spacious for a family of 4 ,thats why a cabana was recommended to you ,,trying to fit 4 people into a room for 2 but as you insisted it would be ok and you wanted the cheapist option possible...On the tours been expensive..wow Barton Creek was given to you at cost and you say was expensive,we did this to help you enjoy your stay you, thats why we took you to big rock falls for free as well so youd have a opportunity to explore the beautiful surroundingsl..i am surprised to learn the bed wasnt to you liking because its brand NEW ..I dont know what your problem was with the vehicle either, completely unfair comment,it works 100% and has NEVER let anyone down..On the food,we dont use menus because of covid virus for obvious reasons, this is why i sit with people and askwhat you would like to eat for lunch/dinner and ALWAYS EXPLAIN about the cost as i did with you everyday.I double checked your bill and the $90 a day is completely unfair, the actual price was $58 a day for lunch/dinner for 4 people ,which i feel is very fair ....We dip almost daily in the creek and certainly isnt a health hazard..There are bugs all over Belize, its something you have to get used to in remote areas, thats why we have screened in areas.on the property...We take a lot of pride in the services we provide for guests,im just so sorry it wasnt to your liking.I hope ive adressed your issues with this response.....

Pine Ridge Lodge is an absolute gem. From the food to the decor to the amazing family that run this place, you can’t go wrong. The property is great to hang out on itself. Slip into a hammock and let the river lull you to sleep. Walk the trails to the waterfall while searching for wild animals and their tracks. Eat an amazing meal, I recommend the ceviche or one of the many pizzas. Sit in the lobby and have a conversation with Neil if he’s not too busy, he is an amazing person. There are attractions within walking and driving distance. Overall an excellent experience and we would love to come back as soon as possible.
