Had a fantastic time doing horseback riding with Joe, Myriam and their son, Lucas. They are passionate about their animals, their land, and providing a fullfilling experience for their guests. Joe taught us a lot and gave us more than a few laughs on the way to the mountain top to enjoy a beautiful sunset. They also have beautiful accommodations surrounded by Belizian forest and pasture land. We will never this unique experience!
We did two activities on Martz Farm and both were exceptional. Day one we did the pontoon boat on the lake. Laz was our captain and he was wonderful - helpful, competant and fun. We ate wonderful food cooked on the grill, jumped off waterfalls, swam under waterfalls and just relaxed in innertubes being pulled along in the warm water behind the boat. Day two we took a horseback ride to a cave with Joe and his son Lucas. The horses were great and gentle and Joe was a wonderful guide. Miriam packed us delicios sandwiches for lunch. We truly loved this adventure. I highly reccommend Martz Farm and hope to visit them again next time I am in Belize.
I went on a full day horse ride on Hazel from the Martz Farm stable. It was an awesome ride. Hazel was gentle yet lively horse and not at all mischievous. Joe, my guide, is the owner and super knowledgeable about everything. We explored a fascination cave filled with natural wonders and Mayan artifacts (and Spirits)! Miriam prepared a delicious sandwich with fresh backed bread at the farm’s kitchen. Before and after the ride I explored the grounds. The facilities are clean, well designed and just the right amount of modern to make the guest comfortable yet still be surrounded by natural Belize rainforest. I can highly recommend the accommodations, food and horses.
I don’t know a thing about the place because I never went. I tried to get my money back over a month before I was due to go but they told me because I booked with someone else their refund policy is void. I understand everyone wants to make a living but this is just no right. It is to bad because I have been coming to Belize for 18 years now and I will never stay at their place nor will I tell others about it. There are plenty of others places to go...oh I almost forgot to tell you my room didn’t have electricity. I guess you live and learn.
I’m at a loss of words when it comes to explaining how amazing this trip was. My girlfriend and I spent 4 days at the farm and it was one of the best experiences we have ever had. It’s hard to explain. Joe and Miriam are some of the best people that we have had the pleasure of knowing. Their family is amazing, beautiful, and so welcoming. We were lucky to be there with just them, and get to know all of them (also the food is so amazing) Joe is my sprit animal! He is going to be in my wedding but I haven’t told him yet. Joe opened our eyes to the history, culture, and his history of the local Mayan culture. Be ware, he will open your mind to the local culture and the ways of the past that you will not get from books as they are overrated. I can’t give more than 5 stars but I would if I could. If you want a eco friendly, family owned and rare slice of heaven, then this is it. The treehouse is the most relaxing and amazing place to decompress. Don’t expect WiFi or cell service, it’s not going to happen but that’s the best part (beside the family time). Enjoy the nature, peace, good company and a book. …
