Detailed Reviews
Great location with clean rooms. Room includes A/C, a large tv with smartcast (no local channels) and a mini fridge. Ask for a river side room. I was on the street side and at 2-3am there were large groups of people leaving the bars and being very loud! They do NOT provide an airport shuttle, but will call a taxi for you. The taxi costs $30US not $20US as advertised. They charge $5US for a 1 hour late check out.

The hotel is within walking distance of both ferry terminals, a plus. Rooms are adequate, you get what you pay for, mine has air con, TV and shower. Nice veranda over the river and some of the rooms also overlook the river. No frills but you can get a beer and water at reception. Staff appear to be upright but asleep, keep going you get there eventually. Next door is Marlon's bar/ restaurant, a locals place. Try the fried chicken at a table overlooking the river, they close at six. The picture of the hotel is taken from the river not the front so don't go looking for that to appear.

Belcove was great! Nice canal location convenient to bus stop and water taxies and centrally located to restaurants, groceries, and events/parks. Very clean and friendly, I felt very safe leaving my things while I was out for the day or night. Great place to meet fellow travelers. Free coffee every morning +++

Belcove was the first place I stayed in Belize as a solo traveler and the staff made me feel SO comfortable right away. They really went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. I really, really appreciate this expecially as a solo female traveler in a new country.
They also keep the hotel EXTREMELY clean, I was so impressed 😂
Great value for the price! Highly recommend!

I was charged $52 more than the website quoted me. In addition, when I got to the hotel I was told the hotel was oversold and we were moved to another, cheaper hotel. The new hotel was US$20 cheaper than the Belcove for the same night, but still I was charged as if I stayed at the Belcove and not, at the other hotel.
(And on top of that difference there was the extra $52 charge.)
After a long conversation with the manager she agree to refund the difference. # weeks later, it still hasn't happened. I had to contact my Credit Card company to look into it.
SHADY!!

Best no frills hotel in Belize city. Located downtown. Close to everything. Coffee and beer available at the front desk. Right on the river with chairs/patio. Tv, wifi and a/c ncluded. We only spent one night but could have comfortably spent many more days there. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Balconies at the "back" of the hotel overlook the canal and the bridge; quite lovely. Rooms are brightly decorated, and the privates have plenty of space around a double bed. Roomy bathroom. No fridge. Good air conditioning / fan and wifi. People at the front desk are great, helpful with finding taxi, meals, etc. Beer and water available for purchase. OK restaurant next door. Coffee in the morning. Clean. Belize is a tough city, and these people do a good job of making it as pleasant as possible.

I was looking for a hotel to spend a couple of nights safely (given I travelled alone) while exploring the beauties of Belize mainland. I turned to an advice to my fellow TripAdvisor travellers on this website and this hotel was a clear winner. After I arrived I understood why.
Probably family owned, well taken care of. Perfect location, right in the center of the city, walking distance to everything. Room was small (but I didn't need more) but very cute, clean and nicely decorated. The lady running that place was super-helpful. I had really hard time getting the tours lined up as I went a bit off-season and my pre-reserved tours didn't have enough people. She spent maybe 20minutes on the phone, talking and convincing the tour guides in my behalf, and made it all work. I was so thankful.
Moreover the neighbouring restaurant was just perfect (and no need to walk around the streets at night, if you don't feel like it) . Also on the water with a terrace overlooking the downtown. Dishes were simple but so tasty! I ate there every day, cheap and wonderful - I recommend the fish.

We reserved two nights in a "deluxe" double hotel room and for US$50 a night wasn't expecting much but was not prepared for what we got. Opening our door we were overwhelmed by the smell of mothballs. Disturbingly, after being in the room for an hour we no longer noticed it. The room was clean and bug free (because of the mothballs ?). The air conditioning worked great which was good because we had two tiny windows near the ceiling that were so small and covered that we did not notice it until our last night. This room is closest to the front desk so avoid it if you can. What made up for the room was the excellent staff. As a previous reviewer stated, this hotel is "in a dicey area of a dicey city" (the staff also warned us of this) but they were responsive and helpful with all our requests. Looking for dinner delivered to the hotel? No problem. Looking for a bank or a nice restaurant to go to? No problem. Want them to book a tour? No problem! It was great. When my husband finally complained that he could not get the hot water to work in our dark little bathroom, the staff immediately fixed the problem then offered us a different room if we wanted. I was going to give this place 3 stars as an average budget hotel but the staff pushed them to 4 stars.

We stayed here for just one night before heading over to Caye Caulker. The cab ride in from the airport is about 20 minutes at a fast pace, the cost $25 USD.The staff here are helpful and friendly. The quality of the rooms is somewhat variable based on the 2 that we looked at. Pay just a small amount more and the room is much larger and has AC. The smaller room that we did not take needed some paint repair, but the whole place is squeaky clean. We stayed in room 38 (I think - at the front above the office) - very comfortable double bed, TV, AC, small fridge, good size bathroom and closet, nice towels and decent bedding. The room was decorated and the wood trim and doors lovely. This room fronted the street, so I was a bit worried about noise, but it was very quiet during the night, however noisy dogs and street talk started at about 7:00 am. The view of Haulover creek and the swingbridge from the common balcony at the back of the building was great. The area is a bit scary but pay attention to staff advice as to where it is safe to go - we had no problems whatsoever. The half block walk up Regent Street from the hotel to the swingbridge looks scary but felt safe while walking, even in the early evening darkness. For dinner, we stayed close by and ate at the Deep Sea Marlin's Restaurant next door where the offerings were basic but good, inexpensive local food. From here it is easy walking to check out Albert and Regent streets, easily walk to the Fort George area on the north side of Haulover creek. My partner went out walking alone to take photos at 6:00 a.m., had no problems and in fact a local security guard that he ran across in one spot took him around to some places to take pic's. On Sunday, pretty well everything is closed but we found a decent breakfast and good coffee, reasonable prices, at the Radisson. Someone else mentioned the local guy that comes around selling pastry. We tried the banana bread, was good, and he was so grateful for the sale. Overall we found people that we encountered in this run down and not so nice city to be friendly and helpful, but be careful where you go. Belize City is not a place I am keen to return to, but if ever there again I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel. It is not a luxury hotel, but it is clean, safe, hospitable and I think reasonably priced @ $51 USD with tax. It is a great stepping off point for the water taxi terminal located directly on the other side of the swing bridge, easy walk over with our luggage - backpack works better than the wheeled bag we had between hotel and swingbridge due to holes in the road, bag continually falling over! It's all part of the adventure.

Hi
The lighthouse is across the bridge and a little further down the road past the water taxi. After crossing the bridge you would turn right. The first water taxi is right on that corner. Keep going past the second water taxi which is within easy walking distance (even while pulling luggage along with you) The tourist village and the second water taxi are in the same place. (Personally the tourist village is just a tourist trap) The Lighthouse is a little further up the street.
The owner had a dog walking around if I remember correctly. Larger dog, but very friendly and quiet. I'm sure if you email Jermaine (?) he will get back to you quickly. This place is great for the price and location.
