If you are looking for a typical hotel with cookie cutter rooms and lack of personality then don't stay here. Cataleya's is a guest house. A place where management invites you into a home. You receive a personal welcome treatment. Each room is different and it is small so it may be booked. Overlooks a water way where one can sit in a hammock and read a book or relax under a cabana. Places to see are relative close by. Things to know. You do have to pay for your breakfast, but they offer coffee and water. There is no elevator but access to the rooms can be from the inside or out They offer free shuttle from airport. And they helped me identify local things to do close by. Have cash as water taxis and sites cost a bit of US.
The hotel is beautiful inside. The WiFi worked well. The king bed we had felt like a sleeping on an idyllic cloud over a field of your enemies corpses. And we were the only patrons there, it being the off season. Unfortunately, the hot water to the bathtub was nonfunctional, but worked in the shower. I used the ice bucket to draw a bath which was well worth it. However, the staff appears to be unknowledgeable and came off as rude. They have a deal with a nearby restaurant called the rust bucket or something, where they offer a ride to, but they don’t have a menu to produce. It appears that the family that owns the establishment lives in the hotel, with an infant. This prompts me to consider this as an airBnB. They advertise a free airport shuttle. But most confounding, was that despite no other patrons were there, the rude employee on shift was determined to adhere to a strict, two-hour departure schedule, that wasn’t written anywhere. This just seems like grievously poor hospitality to me. And the worst, they pretended they didn’t speak English when I asked the questions. When the staff has apparent disdain for their customers, it can really ruin a vacation. So despite the many positives, I have to give cataleya’s a 1 out of 5.…
We were traveling with our two children and stayed just one night to catch a morning flight. After 2 weeks in Belize, this was a great place to spend our last night. The room was beautiful, clean and very comfortable and the airport was only 5 minutes away. The host was very helpful and the back deck overlooking the water was very nice.
Cataleya's is conveniently located near the airport, although we had a little trouble finding it (they plan to get better signage). We stayed in the Miltonia room with our kids, which is the largest room on the ground floor. It was very comfortable and the breakfast was great. The staff was amazing and shared a lot of information about the area and Belize. It was a great introduction for our visit and I would definitely stay there again.
Cataleya's Guesthouse is absolutely divine! A beautiful property close to the international airport in a private gated community this place was a wonderful ending to an already beautiful trip. Had I known this place was so awesome I would have definitely stayed here the entire trip. The staff is outstanding and the scenery is so serene .
