I took my sixteen your old daughter to Isla Marisol looking for a unique dive-centric adventure and couldn't be happier with how it turned out!

The island is on an atoll, an oasis in the middle of the ocean. It is quintessential Caribbean; white sand, conch shells and palm trees waving in the breeze. The rooms were exactly as described. We stayed in #5. It was clean, comfortable, and was 15 feet from the water. We spent a lot of time in our hammocks. If you want a remote, quiet place with an amazing view to relax, this is it.

We had the island completely to ourselves as we were the only guests. The owner, Eddie and some of his extended family/friends came for a day or two in the middle of our stay. We went fishing with them, dove with them ate with them. Very welcoming.

The diving was great and only a 5 minute ride from the dock. We did an advanced open water certification and did a deep dive and night dive in addition to a bunch of wall diving etc. The reef is in amazing shape, the water clarity was great, the abundance of fish and other wildlife was astounding. What a singularly amazing place to dive! Coral , fish, rays, turtles, sharks; every dive was great. The night dive in particular was beautiful. Surfacing after the dive with our eyes adjusted to the darkness, there were stars all the way to the horizon. Theres no light pollution out there!

The staff at Isla Marisol really made the trip for us. Right from booking, everything was great. Eddie was very accommodating and fun. Eddie invited us on an evening fishing trip with his family and friends. Divemasters Mora, Leti and Eddie were great and went out of there way to make everything perfect. Everybody was extremely helpful, careful, knowledgeable and fun. Jen, Michelle, and Julia (I hope I got everybody's names right) took care of everything we needed and served us delicious food and drinks. The fruit, vegetables and seafood were fresh and local. Douglas was a friendly and competent boat Captain and Angel cut us down some coconuts and cut them open for drinbks. The last night the women hung out in the bar and danced with my daughter. We really had a great time and I cant say enough about how nice everybody was!

If you want to go somewhere a little remote, enjoy some amazing weather, diving, nice people and local food; this is your place. We'll be back for sure.

We were a group of 20 friends celebrating a friend’s 50th birthday so we rented the entire resort. Isla Marisol is a truly magical place. The palm trees, the many colors of blue water, the breezes, the hammocks, the laughs with great friends…and the service. The attention to detail was amazing. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you have everything you want or need. The chefs take great pride in their food and it was top notch. Any dietary restrictions were easily accommodated. Just tell them! We wanted to have dinner on the beach and every night a beautiful table was laid out. The snorkeling is great, very healthy reef. I heard the scuba diving was excellent. I appreciate that they use solar power to generate electricity and collect rainwater, making this an eco friendly destination to protect this amazing natural resource.
Tips: the boat ride to and from can be very rough but remember you are 30 miles off shore so it’s part of the adventure.
If you are prone to bug bites wear clothing that has SPF and insect repellent or apply strong DEET spray. The owner is doing everything he can to manage the sand fleas and has spent tons of money and resources to tackle this.
Internet is spotty but now you can read that book you’ve been meaning to.
Upon departure book a flight out of Belize City in the later afternoon in case of unforeseen technical difficulties. Things happen.
Remember and embrace “Island Time”

I got my Scuba open water certification there and highly recommend it as the way to go. Heaven! This was a huge highlight and a positive life changing experience. Master diver Mora was the very best. The staff was always attentive, helpful and kind, working hard to ensure each person in our group was well cared for. The food was delicious. The water pristine. The diving beautiful. The snorkeling fun as I saw hundreds of upside down jelly fish. I experienced 10 wonderful dives and saw dolphin, majestic spotted eagle rays and so much more. The housing comfortable. The location restful. This is a great place for a travel adventurer. A tropical paradise on a small secluded island .

We had various feelings about our stay on Isla Marisol. On one hand it was nice to be so removed from the hustle and bustle. It is a beautiful place in that it is unspoiled and rustic. Their chef, Jen, does amazing things in her kitchen: the meals were delicious. We had a comfortable room but it was worn and the fact that everything is constantly exposed to salty air was apparent. During our stay the rainy, windy weather prevented some activities and if you can’t get out on the water there is really nothing else to do. Fortunately we like to read and had cards. One thing that would really help during these kind of days would be for them to have comfortable, lounge type seating in both the dining room and bar so guests can relax and socialize together more comfortably. One thing that definitely surprised us was that there is not a beach where you can swim. Because of currents, the beach area is constantly covered with seaweed and, unfortunately, trash. They employ two guys whose sole job seems to be daily raking of these two things but they can’t get ahead of it. When you read that snorkeling is 2 to 10 minutes away, they mean by boat. We are glad we went, but it will be a one time trip for us.

We visited Isla Marisol for the first time a couple weeks ago and we loved it. The ride out in the small boat was a little rough, but worth it. The accomodations are basic, but clean and the AC at night is cold. We went snorkeling every day with our guide George who was friendly, kind and knowledgeable. We loved him and he was instrumental in making our trip so fun. I saw lots of fish that I had not seen previously. The water was warm (usually 82-84F) and clear. The food was delicious and it seemed like the portion size increased with each meal! You do not have to worry about going hungry here. There is truly nothing to do here other than snorkel, dive, fish, kayak and paddle board. Internet connectivity is very limited. This was perfect for us. We took the big boat back to Dangriga and the ride was easy. We had a fantastic vacation and hope to return in the future.

We spent three nights at Isla Marisol Resort in December 2021. This place is beyond great. It has well maintained low key accommodations, a bar built out in the atoll lagoon and outstanding food. We went snorkeling which you can do independently straight from the resort or book trips further afield in the atoll. Mora runs the dives and the other guests talked about how lucky they were to have such a good dive master. Highly highly recommended.

Isla Marisol isn't a five star resort, but the experience definitely is. The accommodations aren't luxurious, but are clean and in keeping with the laid back tropical island feel. As others have mentioned the food is absolutely fantastic. I can't recall a time where I've had that many back to back meals that were so good. Miss Ezra, the chef, Michelle and the rest of the staff are top notch. The diving and snorkeling are superb. The coral is simply spectacular. Mora, the divemaster, loves his work and was accommodating of all the divers requests. During our stay there was only my wife and I along with another group of 3. I'm not sure if our experience would have been different if the resort were full. The over water bar is fabulous and fun with guests, staff and the occasional boat visitor mingling in the afternoon and evening. All of the staff do an excellent job.

My husband and I enjoyed every minute of our time at Isla Marisol. We are not divers, but thoroughly enjoyed snorkeling, kayaking, the tours and just being. The snorkeling was some of the best we have ever seen. The island is beautiful, and we enjoyed experiencing something so different from at home.

I can’t speak highly enough of the staff. They go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable, happy and safe. They engaged with us and it was great to learn about their culture and lives. They were down to earth, friendly and helpful. They sincerely want you to enjoy the stay.

The food was amazing. Every single meal was stellar and we left happy and content. We loved the freshness, the resourcefulness and appreciated the hard work they put into making each meal.

The cabana we stayed in was very comfortable. We found there to be enough hot water for a very fast shower, and the room definitely cool enough to sleep well at night. We honestly didn’t spend much time in it, as there was so much to enjoy outside. Sitting on the dock and watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee with dear friends was a highlight every morning.

We saw dolphins, so many fish, birds, sharks, rays, and took in every experience—including a storm!

Eddie and his team go to great lengths to make your time on the island truly magical. I hope to return some day.

This is the most relaxing place I have ever stayed. Being on an island at the edge of the atoll makes for very close diving. The staff are very experienced and helpful. You just show up in the dinng hall and the delicious and beautiful food is placed in front of you. The dive master is very knowledgeable and safety conscious - truly an island paradise.

We came to Isla Marisol as a group of more than 10 divers. The website clearly states "High Speed Internet". However, dial up would have been faster! Had this been communicated from the start....most of us would have been able to get past it. But when you cannot inform your family (back home), the worry set it for many of us. The website also states "3 meals and snacks". Well, this was certainly not the case. By the last night, most of the food was being rationed as they clearly ran out of it. One would think that better preparations would have been made when such a large group was staying there. The owner of the resort mentioned we were the largest group since they shut down last year for Covid. Shouldn't he had prepared for this?

Power is produced by generator. It went out twice on our stay - no rhyme or reason for it.

The sewage smell is quite powerful and overpowering when walking from your cabin to the dining hall or bar area.

The dive master, Mora told a few of our divers to go ahead and kill one fish while we were diving. THIS IS NOT OKAY!!!!!! As PADI/SDI-certified divers, we are all taught to respect the reefs and the beautiful creatures down there. I reported this immediately to our group coordinator and he put a stop to this right away. I was so disgusted after this.

We went to this area in hopes of seeing whale sharks. This particular dive was scheduled for Wednesday of the week we were staying there. We were told to be on the boat ready to go at 11AM. At 11:30AM, we were told that the owner of the island (also the boat captain) was running late from a trip to the mainland, so we would be going in about 20 minutes. After 75 minutes of waiting around, the coordinator of our trip spoke with Mora and told him we were going with or without the owner. We arrived at the dive site at about 3PM. The area is closed by the rangers by 5pm. Well, we finally left the area about 630PM. The seas were so rough (12-16' swells) that 3 of our divers ended up getting sea sick. I can't help but think the drive would have been less severe had we gotten there sooner as planned.

Lastly, I will say that they did do a wonderful job with keeping the insects issues at bay. This was a major concern of ours.

They are building a beautiful resort across the channel from the dive shop. Perhaps look at that place first before Isla Marisol?

Hi Kathy. Great question! While we reserve the right to charge for kayak use (as listed on our website), we occasionally offer kayaks to our guests at no charge. An example would be a scenario where perhaps a guest paid ahead for a dive package but was in fact too congested to dive. I hope this answers your question; please don't hesitate to reach out again!

Flying into Belize Intl. Airport, the best and least hassle is by flying on either Tropic Air or Maya Island Air to Dangriga Town municipal airport. Round trip tickets are 146.00 and flight time is 17 mins, A member of our staff will greet and take you to the boat dock for the journey to Isla Marisol Resort eta. 90 mins or less depending on weather.

This is a small resort and the staff is very attentive to your needs. I am not a diver so I recommend you ask the Isla Marisol staff about certification, etc. From the shore you can see small sharks, manta rays schools of various sized fish but I think you need to go out on a dive boat if you want the whole show. By the way, most of the shark species in Belize have a live and let live attitude toward people.

There are sharks, rays and schools of fish in the shallows but if you want a good show you need to go out with a guide who knows where things are. We didn't need any snorkeling equipment to see these things as the water is so clear you can stand in it and still see your toenails.
