Isla Marisol Resort lies on a pristine, secluded palm-studded island on Glover's Reef Atoll (a UN World Heritage site) in Belize. Of the five inhabited island on Glover's Reef, Isla Marisol is the only one offering private ensuite bathrooms with flush toilets, fresh water showers, hot and cold water for bathing, air conditioning, and 24-hour electricity. Isla Marisol Resort also offers cool cocktails at our newly rebuilt "over the water" bar, and deliciously fresh Belizean style food in our casual dining room. Incredible water sports are just a stone's throw from the resort, most diving and snorkeling sites just 2-10 minutes from the island. All ages and experience levels are welcome! Anglers can hit the "grand-slam" from their front porch, with world class fly fishing for tarpon, permit, and bonefish, quite literally at your door step. Deep sea fishing trips for Wahoo, Kingfish, Marlin, and a host of other fun fish, depart from Isla Marisol daily.

I got my Scuba open water certification there and highly recommend it as the way to go. Heaven! This was a huge highlight and a positive life changing experience. Master diver Mora was the very best. The staff was always attentive, helpful and kind, working hard to ensure each person in our group was well cared for. The food was delicious. The water pristine. The diving beautiful. The snorkeling fun as I saw hundreds of upside down jelly fish. I experienced 10 wonderful dives and saw dolphin, majestic spotted eagle rays and so much more. The housing comfortable. The location restful. This is a great place for a travel adventurer. A tropical paradise on a small secluded island .

We had various feelings about our stay on Isla Marisol. On one hand it was nice to be so removed from the hustle and bustle. It is a beautiful place in that it is unspoiled and rustic. Their chef, Jen, does amazing things in her kitchen: the meals were delicious. We had a comfortable room but it was worn and the fact that everything is constantly exposed to salty air was apparent. During our stay the rainy, windy weather prevented some activities and if you can’t get out on the water there is really nothing else to do. Fortunately we like to read and had cards. One thing that would really help during these kind of days would be for them to have comfortable, lounge type seating in both the dining room and bar so guests can relax and socialize together more comfortably. One thing that definitely surprised us was that there is not a beach where you can swim. Because of currents, the beach area is constantly covered with seaweed and, unfortunately, trash. They employ two guys whose sole job seems to be daily raking of these two things but they can’t get ahead of it. When you read that snorkeling is 2 to 10 minutes away, they mean by boat. We are glad we went, but it will be a one time trip for us.

I specifically chose this resort for it's proximity to Glover's Reef and the amenities that were offered. There is a dedicated dive shop on the island. The free food that is included is excellent. They offers seconds as well so no risk of being hungry. The on tap coconut water and orange juice was fantastic and a great way to stay hydrated on the island. They also customize the menu depending on your preferences/allergies. Alcohol on the island wasn't terribly affordable (1 cocktail = $14, 1 beer = $5), so if you have the foresight and want to drink, you might be better off bringing your own handle of alcohol, which some guests did. One thing I learned from this trip was that you have to push for everything. There wasn't really an onboarding process to the island as they just tell you what your room is and what time is food. Everything on the island is priced in USD regardless of who tells you otherwise. If you want to dive, you'll have to ask them about dive times and training. Kayaks and paddleboards are first come first serve; if you grab it, it's yours. The snorkeling here is fantastic although you can't snorkel from the shore. You have to kayak out to a buoy in order to actually snorkel. They also offer snorkel trips everyday where they take a boat out to the reefs but it costs $50. The free snorkeling was more than enough for us. The diving here was spectacular. Coral is healthy and plenty of aqautic life nearby. Normally, if you do a multi-tank dive you have to stay on the boat but since the dives are so close to the island we get to rest on land in between dives. That being said, the dive times were all over the place. There isn't a strict schedule but it's roughly 8/830am, 11/12pm, 3/4pm, night dive. I personally would push for the earlier dives since those offered the best visibility and calm waves. Night dive was a cool experience although it cost slightly extra. The groups here can become quite large, which was surprising since we thought we were the only ones on the island. This isn't actually the case since there are Island Expeditions and also wealthy charter boats. During our stay during Christmas time, the dive shop was always busy with groups regularly being 10-12 with 2 dive masters. There are 2 dive masters, Eddie and Mora who we scuba dived with that were both extremely knowledgeable and experienced. However, it felt at times that there were too many different levels of divers on the same dive (discover scuba, open water certifications), which caused delays on starting since individuals had trouble descending or the guides' attention was focused on those with poor buoyancy control. This isn't necessarily a fault, but more of a reality of their accommodating nature. If anyone wants to dive or get certified, they will find a way to make it work. There are many SAND FLIES in the scuba area. Make sure to bring insect repellent since the bites don't itch at the time of the bite, but sure itch once you're back from vacation. Bring some hydrocortisone to treat it as well, I easily had over 50 bites over 3 days. If you're not near the scuba area, the amount of sand flies is substantially less. Overall, loved my experience, just wished I knew the things I knew now before going in.

Isla Marisol is a great tropical paradise. We spent a week at the reef house with our two kids, 12 and 15. We all got our certification and scuba dived two or three dives a day. We love Mora! What a great guide. Leticia not only managed the place but dove with us also. The whole staff was excellent and made us feel like royalty. The food was top quality, plenty quantity and available on our schedule. Alicia was a great cook. Seth and Thomas took us on our dives and kept the boat ready when we were. You'll notice so many of the reviews mention the staff by name. This is because the service is all so personal, you really feel well treated. Glover's reef itself is spectacular, with more dive and snorkel sites than you can visit. Appreciate the true isolation. Mr Eddie runs a great place.
