Explore the amazing underwater world of Glovers Reef from our comfortable safari-style camp on the furthest reaches of the Belize reef system. This low impact facility is designed to be a comfortable base to explore the amazing setting, but to have a minimal impact to this tropical island-treasure. Our amazing guides will teach you the wonders of sea kayaking and snorkeling, while our resident marine biologist will teach you about the surrounding marine ecology.

Island Expeditions' website is easy to navigate, anticipates almost all that a potential guest needs to know, and gives links to relevant, necessary, exceedingly helpful information. After studying each trip offered, the explicit description of each, and the accommodation involved, we chose Glover's Getaway--it ticked all of our "Want!" boxes. IE provided the most hand-holding travel experience we've ever had! The very detailed pre-trip information package was invaluable; we printed everything to study over the weeks ahead, resulting in our feeling very confident of being completely prepared for our particular adventure. The condition of the Glovers Reef basecamp was exceptional: housekeeping staff worked pre-dawn to dusk to maintain the grounds and ensure cleanliness of the washrooms. Kayaking guides ensured that boats and gear were clean and ready-to-go. Mindful of potential restrictions imposed by weather, each day they came up with interesting activities aimed at fulfilling guests' expectations. The snorkelling leaders knew just where to find critters and coral for us to marvel at, always explaining what we were seeing. The kitchen team consistently prepared appetizingly generous, appetizingly presented, delicious meals--well-planned for nutrition, flavours, and textures. Our Glovers Reef Getaway exceeded anticipations! The teams vary during a season and from one year to the next; we admire the evident skill with which Island Expeditions acquires such effective employees.

Our trip to Glover's Reef Atoll was a last minute decision, but one that we will never regret. Maybe the word paradise is over-used, but Glover's is as close as I've ever come. The camp is exactly as pictured with picturesque cabanas evenly spaced on the white sand. A number of hammocks are stretched between the trees. That's a good place to study the intricate patterns of palm fronds on the pallid ground in late afternoon while waiting for "Happy Hour." But this is a camp for the adventurous and there are several activities to choose from each day. Most involve a combination of kayaking and snorkeling, led by outgoing, personable guides. You might even choose to help supply fish for the table by doing some hand lining. As expected, the marine life is exceptional and you can experience it only seconds from your cabana. We saw schools of fish right from the two-story dining building while harmless (so they say) nurse sharks and rays were also very common. Of course, own.

Our stay on Glovers Reef Basecamp with Island Expeditions was fantastic. The setting was idyllic. The setting was spectacular. The tents were fun and comfortable. The Island Expeditions folks were outstanding -- the guides were terrific, the chef served wonderful meals every day (with special meals for people with different requirements like vegan, seafood averse, etc.) and the fish we saw snorkeling were amazing - I felt like i was in a David Attenborough documentary. I can't recommend this trip enough.

It's been a bit of a tradition with our family to go on a trip as one of our kids graduated high school. So this time, our 18 year old daughter picked Belize because of the eco-tourism, adventure and activities and we were blown away! After arriving in Belize City, we took a small plane to Dangriga staying overnight at the Bonefish. The next day, we took an nutso open boat out to the cays - high seas adventure for sure weaving through the ocean swells like a mogul skier! We arrived at Glovers and were welcomed by Steve, Keon, Budge and the rest of the excellent staff. From that point on, it was like the best summer camp ever! Everything was excellent - the food, accommodations, and programming modified daily according to the weather. Without a doubt, the best snorkelling we could have imagined in the warm, warm Caribbean Sea. Yoga on the beach (my wife and daughter mostly), hot coffee in the mornings and cold beer in the afternoons (me mostly) and kayaking to our hearts' content. It was such a pleasure to just put ourselves in neutral and have fun. Do it, do it, do it.

We decided to spend the Xmas holiday in Belize to do an adventure trip with our 2 adult daughters ages 20 and 24. We initially thought we would book with REI, but when I started looking at the reviews on Tripadvisor I kept seeing wonderful reviews about Island Expeditions and decided to explore IE's trips and we are sure glad we did! We booked the Glovers Reef & Mayan Caves with the Rainforest Extension and this one was of the best family vacations we've ever had - and we've traveled a lot! Glover's Reef was especially was incredible. The clearness of the water made for some incredible snorkeling and the itinerary each day was flexible. If you wanted to go paddle boarding or kayaking you could. If you wanted to snorkel you could. If you wanted to lay in one of the many hammocks you could. I loved being able to disconnect for a few days. The fresh food was abundant and you are fed 3 hearty meals each day. The guides are so knowledgeable and it was so nice to get to know them and to find out more about their Belizian culture. The tent cabanas were extremely comfortable. There are two composting toilets and two showers which were sufficient if you wanted to rinse the sun screen off your body, but don't expect hot water! You have to remember you are glamping. The rain-forest extension was also incredible. We went zip lining and repelled off a waterfall and again, the guides were incredible! We will surely do another IE adventure!
