I am very disappointed in the response to my unfortunate cancellation I had to request due to the corona virus and the recommendation by the US government to not be traveling to other foreign countries during this time of the epidemic worldwide. I understand that my reservation was past the time of cancellation but up to three days ago I did not know we would be quarantined to our house and would be lose my jobs. I reached out to Barefoot Resort and they did offer a credit for a year but refused to refund my full payment due to the circumstances. Although I appreciated that offer, the likely hood with the loss of my job till who knows when reduces my chances of being able to travel in the next year. In emails they just kept reiterating their cancellation policy as if I didn't know it. I would have never cancelled this trip but it is out of my hands at this time. They insisted they couldn't give me a full refund since they already incurred booking fees and banking fees. I would never re-book a stay at this place ever again due to their poor customer service.

We sure enjoyed the two nights we stayed at this property. There are various choices of accommodation available to fit most budgets. The place was super clean. The staff is efficient, extremely friendly and goes out of their way to make your stay great. We spent our first night in one of the Cabanas, which was fantastic, then spent the 2nd night in the two bedroom house which has a fantastic veranda that overlooks the beautiful beach with view of the reef! The house was super nice and spacious and has two bedrooms and even more space to sleep in the main room. This would make a fantastic choice for a family who wanted a great comfortable, secure accommodation on the island. There is a clean groomed sandy area on the water and a lovely dock to hang out on, with water access for anyone who wants to swim. Oh yes, and if that was not enough two bicycles were included in our rental. Highly recommended.

We stayed four nights in #5, a partial ocean view one-bedroom apartment on the ground floor with a unit above, Nice kitchen set-up: fridge, gas stove, toaster and coffee maker, kitchen utensils, etc (but no microwave). Bed was a firm king, a/c worked great, living area was a futon and chair, also had a dining room table and four chairs. Staff all lovely and friendly, room was very clean. Then we stayed 3 nights in the two-bedroom upper house, which has an enormous balcony with an incredible, unobstructed view of the beach and sea. It had a futon and two chairs in the living room, massive bedroom with closet, dresser, four screened windows and a/c. Full-sized fridge, gas stove, microwave, kitchen utensils, etc. Also spotlessly clean. Very quiet area of the island made for very good sleeps. The property has a nice beach area with a pier and palapa with four hammocks and offers guests free bikes and the first bottle of water free. Would not hesitate to recommend Barefoot Beach.

This was a tough review to decide on because there are some great qualities but I wouldn't stay again. The location is perfect, close to the ferry but away from the noise of the town, the dock is amazing and the owner polices it so there is space for guests, and the bikes are a nice extra. They also let us leave our bags in the office for a bit after check out but the manager does have some responsibilities outside the office and doesn't lock it during business hours which meant they were not always supervised so keep your valuables with you. Unfortunately the water has such a strong sulphur smell that none of us were willing to shower plus the water went out one night so we were unable to flush the toilet. They do however provide a large jug of drinking water which we even used to brush our teeth. Overall, we found beds in Belize to be basic and on the stiff side and Barefoot Beach's are average for the country. I slept on the futon and would not recommend having someone sleep on it for long. While I will find somewhere else to stay next time I visit the island, if you don't mind the water and are looking for a room service free, private space with a functional kitchen, they do provide some nice amenities.

I am so sorry the water was not perfect. I suppose you missed the fact that the Village water was out for the FULL holidays on the WHOLE island , but we have a back up system....so you were fortunate to have ANY water at all. It is still filtered and aerated...but it is the back up system. Many Hotels had to flush water with the water from the pool or buckets provided by the owners....so I consider all of my guests and myself fortunate that we had at least smelly water. I hope now that you understand this truth you might reconsider and alter your opinion. At minimum....you should have told us, so that if there were a problem it could be addressed. Then we could have informed you.Thank you.

If you are looking for something super fancy, this isn't your place. If you want a great island stay, Barefoot is perfect. My room was super CLEAN, huge comfortable bed, full kitchen. I travel with my small dog often, and it was nice that they accept pets. My view was incredible, their is a private area with lounge chairs, a place to swim, a palapa to get shade. What more can you ask for. You are provided bikes... I travel to Caye Caulker often and this will become my go to spot for years to come. I stayed in the Ocean Front Suite and also a side view suite. Water is provided, towels, beach towels and a fridge to keep your Belekin's nice and cold. Most of the island was without water, but Barefoot Beach had it!
