Detailed Reviews
Chris and his staff did everything they could to make our stay and fishing the best it could be. He provided excellent gear and guides, as well as making sure we had all the beverages and food that we needed for a sunny day on the water. He was always there to send us out and when we returned and was very receptive to any questions or desires we had and made sure we were happy with the guide service and experience every step of the way. Chris employs experienced guides who keep you safe and get you on the fish.
Steve and Nubia and their family cooked us excellent meals which included hot breakfast, lunch, happy hour appetizers and dinner/dessert. There was a lot of variety but they managed to keep everyone happy and full!
Golf carts were provided to make the 4 mile trek into town(road is a bit on the bumpy side). The wives who weren't fishing found plenty to do around the lodge, in the town and on excursions out of San Pedro. Chris lined up a wonderful masseuse, Mel, who came to the lodge for massages on the Palapa over the water! There was great bird watching 2 blocks away from the lodge (and even a sea crocodile sighting).
Housekeeping service was great and grounds were well maintained with plenty of seating, shade and views of the water. The newly built villa was perfect for our group with lots of great amenities and privacy! Property is on the water but no sand beach. Plenty of beaches nearby!

Chris and his team made our stay memorable and so darn fun! We had a great time fishing with our guides and enjoying all the lodge had to offer. The food could not be beat. It was fresh, authentic and delicious. I miss it. The ocean front location of the lodge is in a perfect setting-quiet but close enough for a quick jaunt on the golf cart into town. Great little restaurants and bars close by as well. The room was very comfortable and the deck was the perfect place to look at the ocean view while having a cup of coffee or an afternoon beer. I highly recommend Blue Bonefish Lodge.

The Blue Bone Lodge far exceeded our expectations. Chris and his team have created an incredibly personalized experience. Throughout our travels, starting stateside headed for Belize Customs, health testing, transfers in country until each of us were back home at the end of our trip, Chris's communication ensured that we were never traveling alone. He guided us confidently through the ever changing pandemic protocols with ease. Upon arrival, the lodging was better than expected (better than pictures captured) and the meals were worthy of sending to family members as Christmas presents . . . amazing what comes out of the lodge kitchen and the first class service that is comfortably delivered. In regards to fishing, we traveled with a diverse group of fisherman, some very accomplished and others with fly rods in hand for the first time. Chris's team of guides ensured that everyone met their own level of experience with an accomplishing reward of challenged catch. We are definitely rebooking with Chris and excited to watch his operation grow.

As soon as I got to Blue Bonefish Lodge, all of my troubles were a distant memory. They had ice cold beer and delicious ceviche waiting. The view from the deck was fantastic. The stress of the day of travel melted away as I sat on the dock, watching the glow of the setting sun in the clouds.
The guides were great, and got us into fish every day. They took us to different spots each day, which was a great way to see the area.
The owner Chris helped get everything organized, even though people in our group were doing different activities. He set up fishing on the reef, fly-fishing guides, massages, dinner reservations, etc. I was impressed with how clean they kept the lodge, and the food was fantastic. I can't wait to visit again.

I read the few negative reviews and it appears it was from a different management team/ownership. Everything from the day of booking to departure was well coordinated and planned. The facilities are first class, probably the best bed away from home I have slept in, the best food (I gained 3 pounds 😊) and great fly fishing guides. The best review I can give is to say I will definitely return.

Having stayed/fished with Blue Bonefish many times over the past 2 years, I can honestly say it’s an extraordinary place - and one that keeps me coming back. The owners, Chris & Mary, are extremely hospitable & pride themselves on providing the best experience, both on & off the water. They employ some of the best guides on the island, who have all grown up fishing around Ambergris & thus have extensive knowledge of this amazingly diverse fishery, exhibited by their ability to not only consistently put you on fish, but also do it in a kind, helpful & encouraging way. They are all great teachers as well! As a primarily solo female angler, they have taken me from a newbie in the salt to learning to double haul & finally to catching my 1st permit - Memories that I will cherish always :)
The lodge is clean & comfortable, always a cold beer or beverage waiting under the palapa after a long day of fishing. The lodge is located in a quiet part of the island, away from the hustle & bustle of the town. However, golf carts are provided for easy access to town if needed. The kitchen is ran by a wonderfully kind woman, Nubia, who is assisted by her daughters. She cooks traditional belizian fare, and everything is DELICIOUS. I’ve eaten @ many restaurants on the island & Nubia’s food beats them all. Pro tip: ask for the coconut cream pie ;) Steve & Uzzy round out the other staff & no request is too much for them. They are always happy & upbeat, willing to help with any request. For the non-fishing folks, the lodge also provides kayaks & can help with booking other activities such as snorkeling, beach BBQ trips, etc with their numerous contacts around the island.
Chris & Mary have truly created a special place in the Blue Bonefish & I wholeheartedly recommend it to others every chance I get. As soon as I get back from a trip I’m usually already thinking about when I can go back!

Amazing place and amazing experience and we aren’t fisherman. We came with 3 other couples and had an amazing time. The Leeman Family are absolutely amazing. So kid and cool, neat people to meet and they organized all that we wanted to do which included reef fishing and snorkeling Ho Chan and some amazing massages by Mel. We went into San Pedro a couple of times, it’s a 20 minute commute via golf carts they provide complimentary. The food was just amazing. I didn’t eat a bad thing all week and the family who does all the cooking and helping at the lodge are just incredible people. I don’t even care that it was a fishing lodge even though we had a great time fishing, the place was just beautiful, comfortable and all around perfect. We would definitely come back if we come back to Ambergris Caye. We had the pleasure of having Chris and Mary were there most of our trip and just a joy to be around and then Jay came and he was just as great. I can’t say enough about what a relaxing and fun time we had.

From the moment I arrived I knew I was in heaven. From the time you land in Belize you feel the blue bone fish taking care of you. The food, owners, and staff on site are the sweetest and best around! I'll never stay anywhere else in San Pedro.

Our group could not thanks Chris and staff enough for all the hard work they put into making our trip “one for the books”. They went out of their way to make everything perfect, from the food to the drinks to the accommodations, it was all exceptional! Our group had people who wanted to fish and others that wanted to relax and enjoy the weather and Chris as well as the staff made sure we were all happy with the experience. Whether your enjoying the atmosphere or doing some fishing you will not be disappointed! Thanks for all you did Chris and staff....it was top notch!

Just returned from a week long stay at Blue Bonefish Lodge. The visit exceeded my expectations. I did a lot of research into competing lodges and decided to give Blue Bonefish a try. The owners currated a stay package that included guided fishing, spearfishing, and even massages. We had three different guides that consistently put us on fish. We caught bonefish til we were tired and had shots at permit everyday. We also caught snook and were around tarpon routinely. My girlfriend and I were experienced fly fishers but needed coaching to learned how to fish for saltwater species. By the end of the trip, we really improved our game and caught a bunch of fish! The accommodations were fantastic. All the meals were delicious! Great hosts. Flexible. Accountable. No surprises and catered to our every need. If you go to Belize and want to catch fish at a beautiful lodge then Blue Bonefish is the obvious choice. I'll definitely be back!
