Loved the Resort. Very laid back very clean .Nice big beach and several pools. The place to go and chill out not for city dwellers looking for NY type night life lol.. Food very good at the restaurant and bar and an onsite dive shop that does excursiones. Close enough to secret beach 20mins in a golf cart.
I contemplated writing this review since I selfishly would prefer this place be kept a secret for longer but our experience was just so great I have to share. We stayed for just a weekend and moved over to the mainland after our three-day stay. My friends and I stayed in a 3 bedroom condo right on the beach and you could quite literally hear the sounds of the waves crashing on the reef just sitting on the front balcony. We could not have asked for a more relaxing three-day stay on Ambergris Caye and were left rejuvenated from our travels after our weekend at this resort. Authentic and kind service from the staff & restaurant was just the cherry on top after booking a great package online. We got a top floor too with an excellent view of the beach and almost panoramic views of the island. The gardens and pathways were kept clean and manicured every morning making our breakfast walks feel like we were still dreaming. I'd definitely recommend choosing this hotel for small groups of friends or couples but be warned, you are about 30 minutes away from the party hub of San Pedro Town and will 100% need a golf cart so make sure you reserve one in advance as they run out before lunchtime every day.…
First off, let me start by saying this resort is not for party-goers wanting to hit all the beach bars along the coast. There are several other resorts that cater to party people and this resort is not it, but that's a good thing! You are in your own private piece of paradise when here and are given 5-star service at a fraction of the cost. Truly an unforgettable experience and an unexpected but wonderful surprise. Some nights we hit the bar near the two main pools (there are three and one is adult-only but not close to the bar which was unfortunate). The food was great and the small kitchen in the villa enabled us to cook our own breakfast and have lunch al fresco with the sound of the reef as our backdrop. The beach was one of our favorite spots and we spent quite a bit of time enjoying, what looked to us to be one of the only long stretches of beach on the island that was not heavily trafficked and where we were not being haggled by street vendors. A romantic and serene environment, definitely our setting! Take us back!…
My sister and I stayed at Sapphire Beach resort for 10 days. We were super pleased with our two bedroom condominium and the on-site restaurant. Emma and Nicky made great drinks and the food was delicious. I loved the encrusted snapper. The lava cake was 5 stars! Gian the resort manager was very helpful and always trying to please. Do take a golf cart out to Secret Beach. Fun. Fun. The pools were clean. Two for families and one for adults. The ocean water was green and clean. The beach a clean soft sand, even in the water. Lots of pelicans and other birds. This is a fairly small resort with lots of space for privacy. By the pools there is a Tiki bar. I would highly recommend this beautiful resort to couples, families, or friends.
This place is about 10 miles north of San Pedro. We loved being away from the noise and chaos of town. Staff here are attentive and helpful. No significant grocery stores nearby, so get groceries before you arrive or rent a golf cart for trips in and out of town.
My friend and I just spent seven nights at Sapphire Bay. The staff and accommodations were first rate. They were very friendly and helpful with any need. The restaurant, Gem, had excellent food. The palapa at the end of the dock is the best for early morning quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return for sure if we are ever in Belize again. Thank you!
We had a great stay at Sapphire Beach Resort on Ambergris Caye. Everyone there was very friendly and accommodating! If you’re looking for a place to relax, with beautiful views, you can’t go wrong with this place. It’s secluded, several miles north of San Pedro, but quiet with close proximity to the reef. It’s like living on a tropical island!
I debated back and forth about doing this review because I try to live by: if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all. But people spend so much time and money on the perfect vacation and I think people should really understand the risk of choosing to stay here. Complete transparency sargassum was awful while we were here, really tried to separate that out because it can’t be controlled but it literally permeated and ruined our time here. The beach here is probably gorgeous without it and if you want a quiet get away and get lucky with timing it would probably be much better. However even without the sargassum this is not a 4 star resort like google would lead you to believe it is. The pictures were probably taken in it’s heyday and that is not the current condition. Roofs and pools are showing their age. One kayak that we were warned would sink, 2 paddle boards, not able to use because sargassum was so far out and choppy water. As I understand it each unit is individually owned so I’m guessing some units are nicer than others. Ours was very basic and had a super uncomfortable futon and bed. Again not even close to 4 star. We couldn’t go outside because of the overwhelming sewage smell due to sargassum. On top of the smell even a quick dash outside earned you multiple sandfly bites, bug spray did not at all deter. We spent a lot of time watching Netflix on the uncomfortable futon or planning how to escape. Because you are so far from town escaping is not an easy task. Here’s where we escaped to: Day 1 took the loooong bumpy drive out to secret beach. Secret beach is amazing but really long drive and expensive. Day 2 snorkeling-1 positive is you are about a 5 min boat ride to Mexican rocks-saw AMAZING creatures and coral! Day 3- Costa Blu- ate at their restaurant and used their pool. They have a sea wall instead of beach so no sargassum smell AND no sandflies, did not use bug spray there. Personally I would not choose to stay here again. I would’ve been devastated if this had been the only beach stay of our vacation.…
If you want to be near people, restaurants and shops this is not the place for you. We had a great stay at Sapphire. Took a snorkel tour and day trip to Secret Beach. Very nice resort and staff. Thank you.
Sally's Villa # 11 is located in the #1 spot of all Sapphire Beach Resort. It is steps away from the beach with picture-perfect views. My husband and I rented the villa for a month as we wanted to take advantage of "work from anywhere" so we did and worked from Belize for a month in Sally's Villa. There was stable enough internet to accommodate our Zoom calls and Netflix addictions.. My husband worked from the table in the back porch looking out at the beach as I worked from the Kitchen table looking out at the beach. Our work back-drop never looked so good. The Villa Itself - Adorable, very clean, and spacious. It has a great loft for the kids to sleep in and 2 master bedrooms. A full-service kitchen, washer machine and dryer. Sapphire Beach Resort - It is not your typical resort. It felt like a condo community with 3 pools and a pool bar. The main office is an intake room, don't expect your traditional lobby. The restaurant the Gem, has a limited menu but the food was very good. The security guard and ground keepers were super nice and kept the place safe and immaculate. Location - Sapphire Beach is located on the North side of the island. Be prepared that this will take you 45-60 minutes to get to town with your Golf Cart. The roads are pretty bad. Sometimes it was fun, others it made an already timely commute worse. Most tours are from the main land and that is an hour and 45 min water taxi and when you add a 45 min Golf Cart ride you are 2.5Hrs in and your tour hasn't started. When you land from the airport in Belize City, you must take a 25 taxi to the water taxi, then the water taxi is 45min and then the golf cart ride is 45min. Keep this in mind when you are booking your flights home. Make sure you coordinate it with either the Water Taxi schedule of the inter-Island flight schedule. I have to say, with all that, I would still stay here again. I just wish I really understood the location better as I would have been better prepared. The Beach - The beaches were not what I expected of Belize. They were full of Sargasmn (seaweed). Apparently, May is the season. I am a beach person and I did not go in the water the entire month I was staying 20ft away. The smell was pretty awful at times. We sort of got used to it. The groundsman were out there from 6am - 3pm every day removing what they could. They never really won the race. However, If you took a boat just past the seaweed, the water is stunning. All in all, I have to say - I LOVED my time at Sally's place. If you have any doubts if Belize is safe. It is. I never for a second felt that it wasn't. The people are friendly and pleasant!…
