All of the staff was very friendly, courteous and professional - Front Desk, Housekeeping, Groundskeepers, Restaurant Staff and Support Staff. Nice pool area(s) and beach area; however, the entire coast line (all hotels & resorts) have problems with seaweed/stinkweed drifting to the shore (beach). Whether it's a "1 Star" hotel or "5 Star" hotel, they all have to deal with the same problem. Rooms are nice, clean, well furnished, good A/C, good cable TV and good bed(s). Price also includes a full breakfast daily and one free drink ticket per stay.

Hello Gene, Greetings from Belize and thank you for your review! We are so happy to learn that you enjoyed your time with us and that our team made such a good impression. We always aim to provide exceptional service to our valued guests and are always happy to hear that we are able to enhance your experience in our beautiful country. As you rightly pointed out, the sargassum seaweed is a naturally occurring bloom that is affecting, not only Belize but the entire Caribbean region and even up un the Gulf of Mexico. We hope this did not negatively affect your time in Belize too much. Thank you once again for staying with us! We hope to see you back soon!

We stayed on our first night in San Pedro. The people were very pleasant. We got 2 free breakfast tickets along with 2 drink tickets, which i must say were well used. The hotel has a beach view but it isn't necessarily a beach that is desirable to swim in (smelly seaweed). The hotel was about a 20 minute drive in our golf cart from the main downtown village.

Hi Matthew, Thank you so much for staying with us! We are happy that you enjoyed your time and that you also took advantage of our complimentary "Breakfast for 2" promotion which is currently being provided to our much-valued guests like yourself. We provide a wide array of breakfast options to choose from so this is certainly an amenity that our guests are enjoying. With regards to your comments on the Sargassum Seaweed, please note that this is an environmental issue that is being experienced across the Caribbean and, sadly, across Ambergris Caye on a whole. We do our best to ensure that this is taken care of but, as you probably witnessed during your time here, the issue spans much further than just on our beaches. We do have our 2 very lovely pools that our guests can enjoy in lieu of the Caribbean Sea and you also have the option of renting a golf cart to do some exploring across the island and experience all that Ambergris Caye and Belize has to offer. We also encourage our guests to take advantage of their time with us and enjoy an excursion or two to the world famous dive and snorkelling sites located nearby. Once again Matthew, we thank you so much for having stayed with us and hope to see you back soon!

This resort has the worst service in SAN Pedro. Instead of taking your order the staff would rather sit around and talk. You can be having your breakfast and the staff are also eating. Room service is horribly slow to clean your room if your room gets cleaned. Best to stay elsewhere. Also the food is not good and you are better off heading into town. The general attitude is that they do not want you here. Too bad as my partner has been coming here for 10 years for the diving. New owners of resort, try somewhere else. The place is getting run down and they are making no effort to keep it maintained. We won’t be staying here again.

Hello, Thank you very much for your review and for taking the time to communicate your dissatisfaction with our service. it is through open and honest communication from our guests that we become better, provide superior service and continue to improve our offering. What seems to have been the root cause of your dissatisfaction though, is not the issues you highlighted but, instead, your dissatisfaction with our cancellation and refund policies for a guest who did not arrive with you at the last minute. As can be seen in our confirmation documents and other reservation documents, there is a window after which we, like all resorts int he world, are unable to provide a refund for cancellations or modification and most certainly not on the day of arrival as was the case here. We regret that your companion was unable to join you for your trip to Belize however, the rate which you booked your stay was based on a triple occupancy stay and, unfortunately, we were not provided with a valid reason (family or medical emergency) to be able to approve a refund for you. That being said, we still are committed to ensuring that our guests have the best experience while staying with us. Had we been made aware of any of the issues you are claiming took place during your stay, we would have immediately rectified the situation and ensured that your experience was as seamless as possible. However, since you did not let our staff or management know that you were experiencing anything less than the exceptional service that Banana Beach resort strives to provide, we, unfortunately, are unable to remedy the situation now after your departure. Our management takes these claims very seriously. Please, rest assured that investigations have been carried out to ensure if these issues did occur, that they never happen again. Lastly, I'd like to address your commentary regarding our facilities being "run down" which is just not true. Our resort is constantly being improved and preventative maintenance is carried out year-round to ensure our facilities are well maintained. We encourage all of our guests to respectfully and openly communicate with our staff and always let us know if there is anything at all we can do to enhance your stay. We are here to serve and provide exceptional service, tropical memories and an overall unBelizeable experience.

If you plan on staying here...here are a few tips you need to know. Stealing is their biggest problem and the manager has a hand in it as well as the employees. The manager just plain lies. You can tell he doesn't really like his job. If the front desk tells you that you are the only one with a safe key, that's a lie, too. They can & will use the safe key when they want to...whether it's the manager or the employees. Please keep an eye on your valuables, phones & $...as it won't be their fault if they all come up missing. The police are of no help either. Those security cameras around the pool...just for decoration...not even hooked up to anything! The saragasso algae must not be their problem, either, as they don't seem to want to clean it up as much as other resorts do. Just a

We have been to San Pedro many times and have stayed all over the island. We like to be near town so we can walk places, but not so "in" town that it is a Mardi Gras atmosphere. Banana Beach totally hits the mark location-wise and has by far the best prices for a family. It is safe and clean, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the restaurant is SUPERB. It is NOT a high-end resort, just an authentic family-friendly place with great amenities. You will not find granite countertops and stainless appliances at Banana Beach, but you will be clean, comfortable, safe, well-fed and close to whatever you want to do. Massage and tour company on-site. The price includes cab fare from the San Pedro airport and breakfast every day - and it's a very good breakfast. For reviewers that
