2021 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best
At Victoria House Resort & Spa, the order of the day is quite simply relaxation… Located on Ambergris Caye, the largest of the many offshore Belizean Islands, Victoria House is just 2 miles south of picturesque San Pedro Town. The resort offers a taste of barefoot elegance that keeps guests coming back for more. With just 42 guest rooms ranging in style from thatch roof casitas to beachfront villas with private pools, plantation style rooms and stunning ocean view villas, the only challenge is making the choice of where to hang your swimsuit at night. The Palmilla Restaurant and Admiral Nelsons Bar are renowned for fine food and drink complimented by extraordinary, personalized service. Attention to detail by staff and management alike has garnered accolades from international media and awards from prestigious organizations such as Conde Nast Traveler, Conde Nast Johansens, etc. Even more telling is the number of guests who chose to make Victoria House their destination of choice, year after year.

Our stay was fantastic. Two adults stayed four nights and loved every minute. We indulged in a deep tissue massage, an adventurous ruin excursion, exotic snorkeling on site, and amazing staff made for a unforgettable trip!

This resort was lovely. The rooms were comfortable, they give you plenty of pillows. The staff is friendly. The food is so delicious. The pools are clean and of a good depth and size. The downsides- the beach is not a functional beach, the water is bulkheaded off so you can't really swim in the sea. This is further hampered by the seaweed that collects at the edge of the water that you'd have to wade through before getting into the crystal clear waters. We pretty much spent our time at the pool as there was little point in being at the beach.. Also, the windows don't open. For AC lovers this is not a big deal. For someone who wants to hear the waves at night, you can't and there aren't waves anyway because it is so shallow. I do prefer to feel the constant breeze rather than have AC but i had little choice than to enclose myself in the room. It felt very separating from the beautiful paradise. And finally, the smell. This is an issue all over San Pedro but there is a funky rotting smell. It isn't constant but it is enough that my nose was in a constant state of wrinkle. Good things- the restaurant isn't terribly expensive. I tried to get groceries to eat a few meals more cheaply but the island packaged goods are so expensive, it was cheaper to just eat out every meal. And finally the very best, the snorkeling was amazing. This is true for all of San Pedro, not just Victoria House. The waters are calm, clear, and shallow. The reef has so much life and it is so accessible. You have to go snorkeling if you go anywhere near there.

This was my first visit to Belize, and Victoria House! WOW - it was amazing! We stayed in a casita, and loved it. Everything about VH was great! The resort is beautiful, and well taken care of, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. From awesome meal options, to nice cocktails, we have no complaints! The fly-fishing was some of the best we've ever experienced, and our guide Roberto Bradley was excellent, a very knowledgeable angler, with over 50yrs. of experience! This was definitely an awesome trip, and we are already planning our return! Belize is a beautiful country, and its people are wonderful...we cannot wait to be back! Thanks to VH team for making our stay enjoyable!

Dear 944melil, Thanks for the wonderful review! It's always so good to hear that a first time visitor like yourself already wants to return! We have some great fly fishing flats in close proximity to the resort, and you certainly chose a good guide in Roberto. We'll see you soon! Brent

Immaculately maintained resort with picturesque views from virtually every location. Two lovely pools, wonderful food, charming bar and a terrific dock with covered seating area at the end. They helped us arrange snorkeling and scuba, golf cart trips to town and easy transport to the airport. Don't miss their deconstructed key lime pie! You'll never eat key lime pie "the regular way" again!
