El Pescador’s beachfront lodge and villas are situated on over 45 private acres with ambiance, specializing in fishing, diving and eco-adventures. We are family-owned and operated with emphasis on creating camaraderie and an authentic Belizean experience. El Pescador is proud of our philosophy to protect and nurture friendship, adventure and the environment. El Pescador has long been known as a world-class fishing destination offering outstanding flats fishing for bonefish, tarpon and permit. El Pescador has been the only resort on Ambergris Caye specializing in saltwater flats fishing since 1974. Since coming under new ownership in 1997, the resort has established itself as an eco-friendly tropical getaway, including a commitment to offset all carbon emissions generated by its guests flying to Belize. Donations are made on behalf of guests to a local Belizean non-profit organization, Green Reef Environmental Educational and Coastal Research Institute, to offset the carbon emissions used to travel to Belize. El Pescador was also among the key organizations to implement the new Law protecting bonefish, tarpon and permit as catch and release species. This is the most all encompassing legislation of its kind worldwide. It is great news for Belizeans, anglers, tourists and conservationists alike. El Pescador is a serene and gracious establishment on the doorstep of the world’s largest living Barrier Reef. El Pescador offers accommodations in guest rooms within its colonial style, mahogany main lodge, as well as in 1, 2, and 3 bedroom luxury beachfront villas. The villas are perfect accommodations for couples seeking romance and privacy, and for families and small groups traveling together. All rooms and villas are beachfront and have unobstructed views of the Caribbean blue waters. In addition to unequaled fishing, this first-rate resort offers all the eco-adventures which take full advantage of Belize’s exotic flora and fauna. Scuba diving, snorkeling, manatee watching, cave-tubing and zip-lining, and Maya archaeological explorations are just a small assortment of the activities available while staying at El Pescador.

Outstanding fishing & service. Good food , great staff. Decent rooms ensuite. Fishing guides are very knowledgeable. Beware they will re-educate you into how to cast significant yards on a heavy duty single hand rod!

El Pescador is a MUST VISIT! The staff are so friendly and accommodating! The fishing was amazing! El Pescador itself was incredibly beautiful and well maintained! We will absolutely come back again! We visited the first week of April with our three sons (10, 13, 17).

Awesome guides, great venue. The value is incredible. Incredible bonefish numbers, multiple shots at permit, and plenty of opportunities at 100# tarpon. All of the necessary flies and equipment are there if you do not tie yourself.

This was our fourth trip to El Pescador and each trip seems to only get better! We were wonderfully taken care of from the time we booked our group until we left for home. The scuba, the mainland tour, the snorkeling and the day on the reef were spectacular adventures for our travelers. The fishing!! The fishing was remarkable! We had a first time flats fisher who accomplished 2 grand slams on this trip! Several of our group had never flyfished before and with the help and guidance of their fishing guides caught bonefish, permit, tarpon, snook, jack caravelle and more!! The staff and management are always attentive and ready to help in any way possible. We were, and always have been, treated as family. Everyone working at El Pescador is attuned to the "feeling of family" and you genuinely feel that it is not just a "Put on"attitude but a genuine concern for your pleasure. The food is marvelous! Everything that was served was great. From the fresh fruit to the lobster to the mini birthday cake with sparklers was fabulous. We are planning our return trips now, the day after we got home!!!

Part Orvis, part El Pescador = Wonderful and enjoyable time This was primarily an adventure around learning to salt water fish organised through Orvis (John and Dusty were brilliant, patient and great company) and our local guide, Michael, was fabulous - I learnt so much, had such a great time it was sad to leave. The place is laid back but friendly, efficient and very caring about its staff and guests. Our bartender even took me fly fishing on a Kayak after the official business was over - Mariano we were SO close!!!! I would (and will) use this as a base to fly fish in Belize again. Also my wife, Donna, LOVED the diving, do it while you still can. Well done Bruce and the team!

We are expats who loved going here but since the management changed they are rude and only want guests who are staying on the property. We will not be going fly fishing, buying items from the shop or eating at this place any longer. We will offer other fly fishing options to our Orvis friends and others.

Hello. We do not have new management - same for 3 years. You also did not speak with the management. You did interact with our bartender who has run the bar 18 years. While I am sorry you feel offended, I do not understand why. You stormed into our bar cursing and throwing the F-bomb around. We are not that kind of establishment. Our staff are friendly and courteous. They should never be treated that way. Our guests were also offended and shocked by your violent outburst.

Firstly, as a non fisher-person, I was worried about how I would fill my time while my husband was out on the boat with his guide everyday. Well, let me tell you, I was concerned for no reason. I have been to Ambergris Caye several times, so I knew I could re-visit some of my favorite spots, but I hardly ventured out. The whole resort, everything from the shuttle driver that picked us up, the wonderful (I mean WONDERFUL!) staff, the exquisite local fare, delicious cocktails, immaculate rooms, refreshing pools, perfect location, and spa services… was perfect! I am quite picky, but know that traveling out of the US can sometimes be different from what we’re used to. Not at El Pescadore. Nothing was overlooked. They have a very dedicated group of people that grease the wheels to keep the resort running impeccably smooth. Will, the fishing director, was top notch and invested in everyone’s experience. Henry at the front desk is expert at knowing what to do and gets it done. Michelle and Aaron kept us hydrated and I’m dreaming of my next Green Caribbean cocktail. Heidi fed me the most delicious food and always had a smile on her beautiful face. We spent 7 days with these folks and truly felt welcomed. The best part for my husband was his guide, Emir, and the Grand Slam the he accomplished. I went out on the boat for some snorkeling, fishing and shore lunch one day and it was epic. Emir made us a lunch of fresh caught snapper, lobster and roasted potatoes. Can’t wait to go again!

We went here over Christmas and it was great! Yes, there was some issues with COVID and it wasn't perfect. But that aside, this place is amazing. It's a smaller resort, which means the food is excellent since they aren't cooking for a ton of people. They do sit you with different people every night, which I didn't love. But it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'm sure if I asked for my own table I could have had it. Perfect for kids. My six year old loved it here! The beach was so calm and she could hunt for shells and hermit crabs. When she got tired of the beach she could run over to the pool and play with that for a bit. I can't wait to come back!

This was our first trip to Belize. We booked this trip through Yellow Dog Fly Fishing in Montana. Everything from the flight, the lodging, the food and drinks, the fishing, the fabulous and capable staff, the excursions, the fellow travelers, etc, was wonderful! We fished 2 full 8 hour days with our own guide, snorkeled one day, and did a full day private reef fishing/bbq lunch/snorkel trip, rented a golf cart one day and toured the island and the town of San Pedro. We didn’t do any of the spa treatments as we ran out of time, but the other guests raved about them. It was a memorable vacation, full of fun yet very relaxing at the lodge.

I am sorry that you tested positive for COVID less than 24 hours after arriving and had to quarantine for your vacation. We know that was not how you envisioned your well deserved vacation. We understand your frustration. Please note we did not charge you anything at all for staying an additional 4 nights, and even though the outside tour company said you needed to pay for the excursion - you refused to do so and were not charged (plus you had the Belize insurance which would have covered all of it but we not charged regardless). We have no dogs - nor are there "packs of dogs roaming" nearby. We hope you will be able to experience our amazing Belizean hospitality another time.
