El Pescador provides an absolutely first rate introduction to tarpon and permit fishing. The guides will accommodate you no matter what your fishing skills, and Issa will get you casting better in a single afternoon. Food is delicious, the staff is beyond friendly. We felt like family and did not want to leave!

Our rooms were fantastic, food was excellent. Staff is very friendly everyone knows your name. Fishing is so good and they will work hard to help you catch fish. The adventures you can schedule through them are very good and reliable companies. Will definitely go back.

For those eager to venture to Belize and enjoy fly fishing for saltwater species like Tarpon, Bonefish, and Permit...you cannot beat this destination. The staff are all really amazing people and work very hard to ensure you have the time of your life. My wife and I were there in September of 2015 and we are going back again this... More

This was my second visit to the El Pescador and the staff made this experience just as special as the first. Many places boast of the notion that "you are part of our family" but across the board from the resort staff to the guide staff there actually is a family connection. This makes the experience connected to these fine... More

The staff at the resort are wonderful and make you feel like family. They were very attentive to my in-laws who are 78 and 80 years old. Most people go there for the fishing and we did as well but there is so much more to do. Lots of excursions that the staff will book for you. And plenty of... More

My friend and I arrived early Saturday morning. Of course we had watched online what Earl had caused, and feared our vacation would not be optimal. WRONG! This resort, its owners and staff (truly a family) were soooo accommodating and caring, we couldn't believe it! Coming from California (where people are really into themselves), I can't tell you how refreshing... More

We got there 5 days after the hurricane but the resort was nearly perfect although there was still damage to the dock being repaired. We went through Orvis. We did a 4 nights and 3 days fishing package. Gordy was our guide and he worked very hard. I've never seen more little permit and bones. Must have been 100+ in... More

An amazing resort with amazing staff. Being a non-fisher, I was a little worried on our first day when I thought I'd stepped in to all-fishing -all the time. While most people there are avid fishers, my girls and I loved the resort. The customer service is first class with the staff setting up snorkeling, tours, lobster fishing, massages and... More

I really don't know where to start. Hurricane Earl on Thursday, my son and I arrived on Saturday. We really had no idea what to expect. Fly Fished for four days with Cineoh and he was wonderful. Put us on many bonefish and some good permit. The staff and the cleanup of the pier and the beach they did in... More

My girlfriend and I traveled in September 2015 and found El Pescador to be absolutely first class in every respect. The fishing was phenomenal, among the many memorable fish landed was the my first grand slam while my girlfriend caught a 90lb tarpon. The tarpon fishing was absolutely excellent with a fish in the 100lb region jumped every day while... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
El Pescador’s beachfront lodge and villas are situated on over 45 private acres with ambiance, specializing in fishing, diving and eco-adventures. We are family-owned and operated with emphasis on creating camaraderie and an authentic Belizean experience. El Pescador is proud of our philosophy to protect and nurture friendship, adventure and the environment. El Pescador has long been known as a world-class fishing destination offering outstanding flats fishing for bonefish, tarpon and permit. El Pescador has been the only resort on Ambergris Caye specializing in saltwater flats fishing since 1974. Since coming under new ownership in 1997, the resort has established itself as an eco-friendly tropical getaway, including a commitment to offset all carbon emissions generated by its guests flying to Belize. Donations are made on behalf of guests to a local Belizean non-profit organization, Green Reef Environmental Educational and Coastal Research Institute, to offset the carbon emissions used to travel to Belize. El Pescador was also among the key organizations to implement the new Law protecting bonefish, tarpon and permit as catch and release species. This is the most all encompassing legislation of its kind worldwide. It is great news for Belizeans, anglers, tourists and conservationists alike. El Pescador is a serene and gracious establishment on the doorstep of the world’s largest living Barrier Reef. El Pescador offers accommodations in guest rooms within its colonial style, mahogany main lodge, as well as in 1, 2, and 3 bedroom luxury beachfront villas. The villas are perfect accommodations for couples seeking romance and privacy, and for families and small groups traveling together. All rooms and villas are beachfront and have unobstructed views of the Caribbean blue waters. In addition to unequaled fishing, this first-rate resort offers all the eco-adventures which take full advantage of Belize’s exotic flora and fauna. Scuba diving, snorkeling, manatee watching, cave-tubing and zip-lining, and Maya archaeological explorations are just a small assortment of the activities available while staying at El Pescador. ... more   less
